My husband and I sincerely believe Larry Lutrell has earned a special place in heaven and probably…read morehis staff has too. He has integrity, compassion and truly cares for the welfare of others. Larry is human and is not perfect. He can get angry and probably does not always choose his words as carefully as he should at times but, this only because he cares so much for those who suffer from addiction. He has devoted his life to helping addicts get into recovery and supports them through the process to recovery. He continues to care about those who he has helped long after they have left is care. If you or a family member chooses to live at Liberty Ranch do not expect it to always be smooth sailing. There will be bumps in the road. You will probably not agree with all of their rules but, you need to understand Liberty Ranch/House has the addicts best interests at heart. (FYI-No cell phones in 2001. They had an old fashioned pay phone booth in the house!) Food, food is always important. The food was always at least good and often great. The tried and true LR recipes are cooked and prepared by the residents so the quality can vary some. LR only provides dinner for its residents. Larry and his staff several times a year have special meals, often bar-b-ques that are down right awesome. My son graduated from Liberty House around 2002. We live in MI so, we were not able to participate in their family group often or other family activities the way that others did or do today. Our experience with Larry and his staff was and continues to be nothing but the best. He expects the same level of care from his staff that he gives to those he personally helps in the recovery process. He kept all of the young men at Liberty House as safe as possible. When issues came up, they were addressed promptly and appropriate actions were taken. He keeps up with the latest and greatest in Substance Abuse treatment field. My son did relapse a few years ago and Larry was very instrumental in getting my son the appropriate treatment to get back on track. It was no small feat. My husband and I are forever grateful to Larry and his staff. Julie Young Mom & Retired Lincoln Park High School counselor

This is the place that saved my life. I have been sober more than 20 years now and still proudly…read moreparticipate in the house. It's not your typical program in that they actually care here and will hold the residents accountable for their actions. The families also have the opportunity to participate in family groups and support groups like Al-anon. This is where I learned how to live life on life's terms. Larry has continued to be a big part of my sobriety and is always there when I reach out. I'm so grateful to have gone through the program there and the continued support of Larry and the house. Thank you for my life!!!
