Great place to hang out and eat at that gives you that cozy feeling of comforting typical diner feel -- you know, like in the movies drinking a coffee and reading the paper. The service was excellent! The food was averagely good but I wish they had refills on the Ice tea. I tried the Reuben sandwich and I thought it needed a bit more cheese and sauce, but they did pack the meat in there well. Definitely good for carnivores who like the meat portion of the Reuben. The French fries are thick and somewhat crunchy which is how I like them. Sitting on the patio and people watching is a great bonus at this location. read more

Amazing burger, one of the best I've ever had in my life - they are a local business and their poached eggs are some of my breakfast favourites. They open at the perfect time 7am - for early birds (or late nighters) such as myself, and their whole menu is available. The prices are very reasonable for a local restaurant - id say with the portions & quality they offer they can easily compete with large franchises who surround them - I've always ordered off skip the dishes - and they have never gotten my order wrong (unlike most places). One thing they can improve on is their hash browns, in my opinion they are always dry and over cooked, but everything else is literally my taste. Nothing beats the classics diner feel with modern menu items. I ordered the mexi-Benedict. Poached eggs serve on a bed of guacamole and polenta drizzled with hollandaise sauce. The nook has copies of the Sun sitting around to read over breakfast. I read one while I waited for my friend to arrive and have a pre-work breakfast with me. In the meantime I had a cup of earl grey tea and some time to sit and survey the place. It is a well-preserved example of the diners which can be found throughout the city. The seats are bench-style and the entire range of people who live in West Broadway and Wolseley might stop in at any time. I once walked by the patio and observed a man sitting opposite to a giant teddy bear. They both had a beer sitting in front of them. Anyway, I ordered: Spanish Omelet, which comes with toast and hash browns. The omelet was well prepared, the toast was buttery, the hash browns were made with real potatoes. Overall it was a good place to eat, but not an exceptional one. What makes it a winner is the atmosphere, the feeling that there is a strong community built around it, and very friendly staff. I would like to come back for lunch and dinner sometime and see what the rest of their menu is like. But based on breakfast alone I felt that it was worth the money I paid for it. read more

Here's why: - Difficult to get the attention of the waitress - Food seemed overpriced for what quality we received - The only place I have ever seen scrambled eggs look like they were left in the pan too long - Coffee was mediocre but better than Denny's - Was the seating layout inspired by a sardine can? Went to The Nook for the first time today! Ordered 2 eggs with sausage (comes with hash browns and two pieces of toast) for around $10. The food was awesome and it was a big portion too so if you're hungry I'd recommend it and I think it'd also work if you wanted to share with someone. I was also impressed with the service. I have a severe nut allergy and our waitress was kind, understanding and took it very seriously. She was thorough in checking ingredients and letting the kitchen know of my allergy, and I felt very comfortable eating there and had no problems! It's awesome to find a new place that understands the seriousness of allergies and will make sure that they take every precaution to make sure their food doesn't come in contact with allergens. I had great food, great service and a nice experience at The Nook and I will be going there again! read more

I love this restaurant. My father and I have been coming here for years, we love the delicious food and friendly staff. A great little dive in the middle of Winnipeg. The food is always prepared fresh and comes off the grill, onto your plate and into your mouth. Apart from the fantastic food, is the great atmosphere created here, walk in and you will see people from everyday walks of life, rich old people, young families, and of course the wosley hippie crowd. The staff gets to know you, and gets to know what you order, which is always nice. ;). Summing it up, this place has great food and is a great little place to catch a bite with your friends, or grab a table by yourself. I hope to be going to this restaurant for many years. read more

Can't say I've eaten here, but I can assure you I never will. I stopped in the parking lot (literally a couple mins so my kids could stand and walk well we waited a couple mins for a family member) as my van was still running the owner came out and proceeded to rudely question me and tell me to leave the parking lot. I said I wasn't staying long and my van is still running. She told me to leave again (literally my van her car and 1 other were the only ones in the parking lot) I said ok. As I was settling my kids down and getting them back into their seats I noticed the lady was still angrily staring at me from the entrance of the back door. I then had to get out to buckle my son up, only to finish and see she called a man to "babysit" my leaving. Again I said I was going. He started telling me how I need to leave now, etc. I then said to him you know what, no I wasn't planning on coming in but I could've still been a future customer (as me and my spouse love going to new places all the time) but the way they treated me so harshly over and empty parking lot insured I will never be a customer. I then moved my van just in time for my family member to return and have her see the angry faced lady open the door and scan to make sure I moved. Unbelievable. read more
