The owner and the waitress were really nice! My friend would have liked his drink to be refilled a little bit more quickly though but other than this everything was great. The waitress has a spunky fun personality, you just can't help but smile around her. My friend had the Egg Melt and he said it was good. I tried the Toasted Cucumber & Swiss sandwich. It's made with harvest grain bread, topped with lettuce, tomato, cheese and mayo. Simple, fresh ingredients that were simply delicious! What I really loved though was the shredded hash browns. It was the best hash browns I've ever had in Winnipeg. The best! The Ice teas were sweet and refreshing too. This place is quaint but charming. It's pretty cute and cool! read more

The only thing missing was Norm (of Cheers!). This place is so friendly and cozy you won't want to leave. We came for breakfast and found the food superlative and the hospitality warm and inviting. Kelly is a gem and makes everyone feel right at home. They even have a bell at the counter so you can ring it if you want slower service! The Classic Breakfast is really tasty and perfectly-prepared. We had basted eggs with their hashbrowns, toast and bacon. When I asked Kelly for crisp bacon she replied "Brittle-crisp?" THAT'S SOMEONE WHO KNOWS THEIR BACON. My wife had ham with her delicious eggs and hash browns. A grilled cinnamon bun from Gunn's was our appetizer and was the perfect appetizer while we waited for our really flavourful breakfast. Of course, coffee came on arrival and kept getting refilled without any prompting. We have found our newest downtown breakfast place and will be back FOR SURE!! read more

This café is a tad hidden as it's located behind the Hotel Fort Garry, and housed in Fort Garry Place. Easiest way to get here is on Garry Street, walk/drive south and it's a left turn right after the Hotel Fort Garry's parkade area, into what looks like a back alley of sorts. Go through door number 81, the restaurant is on your right hand side after the CIBC ATM machine. The café has a big "Restaurant" sign in red pointing towards it as the actual signage isn't as eye catching, or look for Sam's Food Fare, as the café is the right of it. On a side note, what a weird building, lots of City of Winnipeg offices like the ones where you get renovation permits. I digress..it's definitely a small and cozy café full of regulars who work in this area. This place seats about 30 people with tables for mostly 2 tops and 4 tops. I'd suggest coming here a bit before noon or a little after the lunch rush as this place gets busy. Plus everything is made fresh to order so it takes a little bit of time. This place serves up all day breakfast, soups, sandwiches (melts as well), salads, wraps, burgers, chicken fingers, perogies, pizzas, chicken or veal parmesan, and fish and chips. There's definitely comfort foods on the menu and your typical lunch offerings. On a side note, they use Gunn's breads. The prices are all very reasonable as the most expensive items are $10.95 which are platters (which include soup, salad or fries). Ordering just a sandwich or a wrap is about $7. They also breakfast specials M-F for $7 after tax which includes a coffee too. My coworker really enjoyed their chicken fingers. The only things I didn't like about my clubhouse sandwich was that there was ham (which was listed in the menu but I didn't see so not their fault) and the use of miracle whip. Bacon was in there but the clubhouse definitely didn't need the ham. I love bacon but shaved ham is not a fave. And the sweetness of the miracle whip is not something I personally like in my sandwiches, as I prefer the classic use of mayo. That being said, it was a good sandwich and the super thick white texas toast was delish. I'd definitely go back for lunch again - good prices, friendly service and comfort foods. The one server/cashier, who seems to be the owner as well, is very friendly and super fast on her feet as she's taking orders, serving, taking payment etc. They are open Mon-Thursdays 8:15 am to 5:30 pm. Fridays 8:15 am to 4 pm and Saturday 9 am to 1 pm. Closed Sundays. They are licensed - beer and house wines. read more

The food I've had has been delicious and very quick. Also the friendliest service I've gotten the pleasure to experience. I was staying in the Fort Garry Apartments for a week before I discovered this little gem in the mall right next to our lobby. Wish I'd known about it sooner. Unbeatably convenient! I can come downstairs literally in my PJs and have a big hangover breakfast, with coffee, for under $10. The owner, Kelly, waits on the tables - she's a riot! A perfect place for breakfast during our stay at the Fort Garry. This is a great alternative to ordering room service or having to walk down to The Forks. The environment is jovial, with extra friendly service. Chatty wait staff and delicious comfort food. Breakfast was hearty and portion sizes healthy. My eggs were cooked perfectly and I finished everything on my plate. Also, as with any good breakfast place, coffee was replenished quickly. Never saw the bottom of my mug before a top up, ditto for the hot water in my tea. I can't say enough good things about this little hole in the wall. When I travel I look for local places to eat. I try not to eat at chains or real upscale restaurants. The 2 Kelly's fits the bill. I had the full breakfast ( potato pancakes, 2eggs, bacon and toast. The pancakes are different from other potato pancakes I have had in the past. Very good. Bacon cooked to a crispy texture but not burnt. Again very good. The multi grain toast was good but I was full. A hard place to find. It is not visible from the street. It is in the Fort Garry (sp) mall. read more

Breakfast is what seems to be what people love here. My favourite part of Kelly's breakfast is the homemade shredded hash browns. So yummy. I'm more of a lunch person though, and can she serve up a lunch! My favourite is any one of her homemade burgers, but her sandwiches are equally delicious and made to order with all fresh ingredients. The service is always courteous, prompt, very friendly, and attentive. The restaurant is clean and has a "grandma's hug" type of feel. Highly recommend 2 Kelly's... go early for lunch because the place fills up fast! read more

Location: 2 Kelly's is behind Hotel Fort Garry, down a narrow alley that initially appears to be a service entrance. 2 Kelly's is directly down the alley, via a walk-in entry into Fort Garry Place mall. Kelly - the main server and cashier - is probably one of the hardest working people in Winnipeg, and I have never seen her get frazzled, even when the place is slammed, which it invariably is. Cozy little place hidden away in a back alley mall. The food was ok. I had breakfast bacon eggs toast hash browns and sausage with orange juice. But the food is not the best thing about this little gem it's Kelly. She is an amazing effervescent and bubbly person who made a simple breakfast into a memorable experience. I recommend checking this place out and know why she has a regular clientele. read more

I've lived in Fort Garry Place for about 6 years now and LOVE 2 Kellys Cafe! PERFECT place for half asleep breakfast or lunch with the kids or brunch with family. Definately one of Winnipegs hidden gems. I HIGHLY suggest this place to anyone. comfort food and customizable breakfast platters. owner is main server, fast and very friendly. all food is cooked to order. great coffee. great staff. wifi available and now has cell phone coverage. it is kid friendly has booths aswell as individual tables. you can call and make a reservation of either. does not take debit but does take cash or credit. convinient ATM right outside the door. uses Gunns bakery bread which is delicious. read more

Perhaps the best cooked breakfast place I have ever seen anywhere. I am attending a conference in April, venue Fort Garry Hotel. I'm not sure whether I am going to Winnipeg for the conference or for breakfasting at 2 Kelly's with the conference as a side benefit. Anyway, I expect to be leading a parade from the Fort Garry to 2 Kelly's on the first morning of the conference. read more
