So my wife and I thought, she could draw up a design and we could bring it to a local print shop to have the shirts made. I'm so glad we chose 87 Central, we brought our own design in and the staff there were super sweet and ready to help! Even for an order of only 12 shirts, they treated us like we were a huge order. They whipped up a mock on the computer and asked us when we could pick them up later that day! I thought it might take a few weeks to get such a special order made, but they had it ready for us in the matter of hours! I thought it was cool how many American Apparel color options they had in store, so we didn't need to make a special order, even though we had kids sizes, women's fit, and a couple of 2x orders. The staff went over all the cost with us, and even gave us a little deal since we designed the designed ourselves! When we arrived to pick up the order later in the day, it was hanging with other orders completed on a little hanger in a special canvas bag with our name on it that we got to keep. The service was above and beyond and I highly recommend using 87 Central if you plan on getting t-shirts made for an event or for your next family reunion.

I found the manufacturer that day and asked if they could order from them and they said sure, no problem. Then the design.. I gave him a pic of my business card for a style to go from and Shawn went the whole other way.. Frustrated by this I made my own design and sent it to him.. He said he was working on it. I see the design, FOUR days after he said he would have it done, and it looked nothing like what I had made.. He said he couldn't open the picture so he just made something else up. WHAT!?!?!!!! In the real world we have deadlines. And when you tell someone it will be done, it should be done! There were so many emails that I had sent to him that were unreplied, I felt like I had to keep prodding them along to get something done that ended up being nothing! I did not order shirts with them, they couldn't get a design right and were wasting my time! I really wanted to keep my money in the community, if you do too try broken arrow printing, ABC sign, or custom ink. Try anywhere but here!

They were super nice and Ashleigh showed us how to screen-print our own shirts. I really enjoyed learning how to do it. It was fun and easy to do and the shirt designs were so professional-looking. We got to choose from four different designs and choose the color and size of t-shirt we wanted. I always love events where there's a make-and-take. The shop is really cool and has a lot of fun designs for t-shirts. They also sell coffee mugs and drinking glasses with a Des Moines logo that Ashleigh designed. Another great thing about their merchandise is that it's all so reasonably priced unlike a lot of other t-shirt places out there. They also do mobile screen-printing. They can come to festivals, small parties and corporate events and people can print their own t-shirts. That's such a cool idea! I can't believe nobody thought of it before. That's just one reason I love it! They let you be hands on and see the cool process of what they do! Each time I have seen their pop up customized print shop at work it has been unique to the festival or farmers market they have been working in! I have never seen anything like this and I think it's totally crazy and awesome! They also do design services. We have a design composed of a circle of smaller designs and when it wouldn't all fit on toddler shirts, I saw okay, just pick one. This was my first experience with tailoring. My son needed suit pants taken in at waist, let out in…read morethe seat and hemmed up. We ended up also having the jacket and shirt tailored as well. I appreciate the tailor talking with my son about what he wanted but I also felt like we were being upsold on the work. In the end, the suit was ready when we needed it and my son was happy with the fit.

The staff was all incredibly informative and helpful. Best of all they made our five year old feel like a star! They involved the parents and the kid in every part of the selection process. Extremely disappointed with the finished product. It was my American Legion Cap. Nearly 3 years ago I took my Legion cap in to have the word "Commander" embroidered on the side. Gold letters. Came out perfect. Last week returned to have "Past" embroidered above, in smaller letters. When my cap was sent back to me. The word 'Past' was way larger than requested. Shocked. Not at all what I wanted or how it should look on the cap. So upset & displeased. I cut out the stitching myself. UPDATE: This business did get back to me to redo/refund. However, I will not take my cap back. As I do not wish to take the chance of having it damaged.
