Recorded two songs with Asaf and just recently reached out for him to help me out with my home studio so I could record raw files and have him master them and he prompted me to "take his school class" for him to help me and I think that's just poor. Money hungry move, I was interested in his class before even asking for his help with my set up but I'm running Logic Pro x and he teaches w/ pro tools. Just not a very good taste in my mouth after his short replies and being pushed to do his class. read more

I've been recording with Asaf Fulks & The OC Recording Company since October 2007. To say that this is one of the highest quality studios in Southern California is an understatement. I'm a session musician hired by various artists and producers in Cali, Miami, Texas and Tennessee. Being a working musician (or in any trade at that) is always a situation where you need to develop a good rapport with others as well as maintain your integrity. With that said, i've had some "not so great" experiences working with some studios ( i wont mention) (engineers & staff) that carried this sense of "i'm more important that you" attitude. That kind of environment is unfortunately stuff we have to deal with when we are hired to work. Needless to say, i do my part and keep my cool :) And of course I've worked at other known Industry studios that blew me away haha... When i was sent over to OC Recording, I noticed a completely different kind of environment. The studio is located upstairs in a business type suite. Though smaller than some of the studios i'm used to working in, it makes up for in terms of character and attitude. I met the owner who happens to be the main engineer too (came to open the studio for the 2 day session). My first impression was the pride they have, not in what they are, but in what they do for a living just as i do. There was no big headedness but rather friendliness and professionalism. The engineer's skill set was top notch and he worked efficiently as well. The artist came in to observe and was also happy with the workflow. All in all, i'm pretty much summing it up with this: How we carry ourselves determines what we're attracted to. This place was a top notch studio to me because of the positive relationship i established and the quality of work put in by the staff. I took classes at the OC Recording Company for the past six months to study music production. I could tell that Asaf put in a lot of work during his experience in the field for many years. His book that we cover is very in-depth and he was very VERY patient with me at all classes. I am sure there are many talented engineers and producers but Asaf is all that PLUS a good teacher. I'm not sure if the one star rating has a grudge with the company but I have spent many sessions here...at least 20... and I have also spent time at 17th street studios and a few other in LA. I've had the most success here. First of all, Asaf knows what he is doing. From recording to mastering, he's got it figured out. He works fast and he works efficiently. He works with the BEST equipment ANY studio has to offer. In regards to professionalism, he gave his undivided attention to me, all the rooms are acoustically treated, his Sony mic is the best in the game, and the atmosphere is awesome (cool lights, paintings, and design). I stopped by the other day and he was working on a beat. Oh ya... he makes sick ass beats too. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone. read more

I've been traveling to the Oc Recording Company from Palmdale for about 11 Years now. Asaf Folks Has been my go to engineer for all my major projects. He never lets me down. He is totally in tune with the music and works super fast. Not only does he get the job done but he knows his craft very well and will mix up your digital files to make a guitar sound live for instance many tricks up this mans sleeve. I have access to many amazing studios in the Los Angeles and Burbank area but asaf is worth the drive. 5 stars is not enough. And I read one negative comment on here that made me laugh in no way is this man money hungry. He offers a service and never plays away from what he offers which makes him very dedicated to what he truly does. I was researching recording studios and stumbled upon Asaf's website. It was close by so I decided to give it a chance. I was really impressed at how incredibly nice Asaf and his team was. When I arrived there was another group in the studio recording and I couldn't believe how incredible they sounded. Go to You Tube and search for "My Hero & Asaf Productions - Breakout". Wow. Keep in mind this video was done with a $0 budget at his offices! There is a huge amount of talent at this studio. I think its only a matter of time until one of his artists hits the big time. I know its inevitable I will see him on the MTV music awards one day. He took my idea for my recording and turned it into something really great - All from scratch. I am very proud of what he produced for me. I'm not sure what the other reviewer Spoken T. was referring to.. but all the pricing from start to finish was more than reasonable. I actually asked Asaf why he doesn't raise his prices. I felt it was a great deal compared to other studios. I will always recommend this studio to anyone I meet. Thanks Asaf !!! read more

I can not express how satisfied I am with Asaf's amazing work!!! I went to his studio to record two songs to play on my wedding which i have never done before!!! one song was for my finace a song he proposed to and the song we will be dancing as our first dance as a married couple (which he has no idea of) and the other song was for my amazimg mother... Both songs came out amazing!!!!! Asaf's is very sweet and makes you feel comfortable and not to mention he is very professional and knows he stuff... if you're looking for a qualified sound engineer - this is a good place. if you're looking for a helpful person to be in the moment and stay involved during your recording session - run fast! not only is the place way overpriced, there's little engagement offered for the person working hard in the vocal booth. between texting and other time wasters, this engineer has the attention span of a horsefly and will offer very little help or just overall support while you sweat away inside the booth. he demands you book 2 hours at a time at minimum AND requires a booking deposit just to hold the spot. now, if you have a crazy schedule, don't expect him to be reasonable and flexible BUT should some time conflicts arise on HIS end, you are absolutely required to adhere to any changes or he will just blow you off. i would not recommend this studio to ANYONE and urge you to go elsewhere. this is a very hardcore industry and unless you have tons of money and time to throw away, continue your search for another place to record. hope this review sheds some light on this place.
