Gonna take my horse to the Old Mill Store... This "general store" has all kinds of fun touristy stuff that you might need to show the folks back at home how they do it a bit wierder in Wimberley. They show off all kinds of talented artists' works, in a big variety of media. They have jewelry, paintings, sculptures, candles, soaps- all made locally or semi-locally. My favorite- they have an ice cream cooler for hot Wimberley days with a variety of Blue Bell Ice Cream, and some other treats made around the area with pecans or local honey. All of it is delicious. The staff was friendly, and willing to show off any of the wares that they were selling. They'll help you with shipping too! It's not really a place I'd go for provisions, it's not that kinda general store. Instead, it's a place I'd go for fudge and a Texas shaped mood ring. Parking is easy -it's located along the town square of Wimberley. There's free parking all along here, and a public restroom across the street! read more

Just like a general store of yesteryear, The Old Mill Store has it all. However, don't let the name fool you. This is a high end general store. I was immediately drawn to the Lloyd Burns custom metal animals that greet you when you step up on the front porch. Inside there are beautiful leather purses, custom furniture, lighting, wine stoppers, jewelry, candles and accessories. In one area, the owners have set up tables and chairs for you to enjoy a glass of iced tea, a soft drink, hand dipped Bluebell ice cream or your choice of candy. There are shelves of D.L. Jardine salsas, Fredricksburg fudge, Fischer Wieser products, dips and gourmet foods for sale. read more

You can't visit Wimberley without stopping by the mill store! Ever since my children were little we would visit the candy shop and ice cream bar. The place has a unique "old school" feel to it and you will find things there that are original and a refreshing break from the norm. Next door in the shop there is local fair from hill country artisans including hand made soaps, art, trinkets, jewelry, and home furnishings you won't find anywhere else. If you are looking for some nothing original, from 5$ to 5,000$, this is the place to see! read more

Their website doesn't mention it, but they have a sandwich counter at the back of the store where they make homemade deli sandwiches and offer Blue Bell ice cream alongside Fredericksburg fudge. The sandwiches are quite large and filling, and you can have it made with any available fresh ingredients. Considering it's just sandwiches, service was a little on the slow side, but polite. read more

The selection of items is pretty good, though somewhat pricey and limited in style. The great thing about it is the little ice cream drink fountain are in the back with seating to enjoy your favorite Blue Bell flavor in a cone or dish or grab a cold beverage before hitting the shopping trail again.
