We'll start with the parking.. it literally took me over 20 minutes to find a parking spot there were signs up that pointed you to another lot and they were towing people from them lots so I didn't park there I had to drive around until somebody was walking out and then hurry up and get their spot. I had to walk good half a mile. And then when we got in there it was a super nice building not very very huge but you know big enough but like I said there was a lot of people.

It is a nice convention center and seems great for small events, but definitely makes a large event like this one overwhelming. I do like that they have free parking, but unless you're coming here an hour or so before the building opens, well, good luck. Once their lot is full, it will be a headache and a half trying to find another area where you won't get towed - or you can pay up to the people charging for spots. The large area of the convention center is nice and makes for a great vendor hall. There's even a basement to store an overflow of booths. Although it gets booked fast, there is a hotel connected. Once you try to maneuver into the other rooms, that's where it can get tough. long lines take up space in the narrow hallways, and lines for celebrity guest get capped quick because most of them are crammed into a small room. Also, don't plan on using any of the ATMs, because they're all going to run out of money fast. I probably will not be visiting any more conventions here. Maybe if there was a smaller event I was interested in.

Facilities are definitely adequate, but obviously not as nice as a newly built or renovated place. My one suggestion would be that the parking area be policed a bit more for scammers. Some kids were charging folks for parking in a free lot. A pretty decent scam for them, really. But there were police officers working traffic in the area who took no action to address.

My original thought was just to stop and grab a few pictures of the outside. I didn't REALLY need to go inside. (YES, YES I DID). I got there about an hour before the first tour started, so the Husbeast and I enjoyed a little country Karaoke as I walked around and took photos. It's exactly what a Honky Tonk looks like (And smells like: Liquor, Beer, Sweat and Cigarette smoke). There were a couple of regulars playing pool and a few others singing, The guys and gals line dancing to 'Footloose' made me grin. Mark was our tour guide and he is a Gem. He has the history of the place down to a good patter. It's sad about the recent-ish mudslide on the other side of the hill. The basement is a "special" place. Even if you don't believe in ghosts or demonic things, please surround yourself with white light and protection. I'm not saying it's related but I did end up with a huge bruise on my stomach and 2 days after I got home to FLA I ended up in the ER with Blood pressure Issues. Just sayin. It's not a place to fool around with. There've been too many folks who have done TOO MANY stupid things there without knowing what they're engaging with. My own personal experiences were: I saw a female shape to the right, when you're facing looking into the well room, it had a very victorian style silouhette. I felt a cold spot as we entered into the room of faces. There was something touching me in the jail cell, I felt, rather than heard voices in there. In the spot between the stairway to heaven, and the pit to hell, I felt a pain in my stomach. I ended up with a large bruise on my belly. May not be connected, but who knows. The husbeast, who's an absolute null, and skeptic, felt slightly dizzy in the jail cell, and saw "something" off the the left, near the mechanical bull in the basement. Would I come back? Yes. Probably even to drink and dance. It was a cool place.

I'll start with the pros: great overall space and the decor fit the color scheme of burgundy and gold. Now with the cons: The theme was eclectic and the designer did not deliver. Nothing about the decor was eclectic, I'm not sure she knew what that was. Check the pictures. The designer/manger SCAMMED us. We paid for an unlimited mimosa bar and sweet table and received none of it. For the mimosa bar there was only 2 bottles of champagne. What is unlimited about 2 bottles. If you brunch you know 2 bottles are gone in 6 minutes tops! Also no sweets whatsoever. My bride tribe had to find a grocery store and buy champagne and sweets. She did not give us our money back or explain her scamming ways. Finally as the event ended she was not there to lock up! Who leaves there business for their guest to lock it up. The caterer for the shower explained that this was unfortunately common behavior for the owner. So much potential with so little passion & leadership.

To make right, the owner reached out to my friend and offered her the space, free of charge, for an event of her choosing. Today, my friend used the deal to host a pop up & sip for her luxury beverage business. The venue was dirty. The tables were not cleaned after the last event, and had to be wiped down prior to the event today. The floor was sticky. The refrigerator and freezer were both dirty. The venue is in a great location and has so much potential. I wish it was better managed and taken care of. It was very kind of the owner to reach out and offer the space for free to make up for the first event, but it just seems like the venue can't get it right.

Several rows of folding chairs, which weren't too uncomfortable, with a balcony/mezzanine section with a couple rows of regular theater seats and then bench seats. The stage is quite high, so sitting close like we did (second row center) wouldn't work for all things, but for comedy, it was perfect. The way Bob set himself up on stage, we didn't have to crane our necks. We took a Lyft, but parking is plentiful, affordable, and right by the elevators into the venue. The staff were all super nice, from the parking attendants (who told us how to get into the venue), the ticket folk, the security folks. This pavilion has a specific bag rule--a 14x14 clear bag can be used or a 5x8 smaller solid bag. No one was really measuring, but they did a basic check and there was a metal detector. We had VIP tickets, so we had a different entry than others, so I can't speak to how organized regular entry is. Some others have said it was disorganized and messy. We purchased VIP lounge passes for 35 each. It was nice to have a place to sit and grab some drinks and they had snacks and pizza as part of the package (drinks had to be paid for separately). The woman behind the bar was even nice enough to hold our posters for us during the show, as we had no place to put them, so they wouldn't get ruined. Very close to downtown, very accessible, great staff. Besides the dystopian name (as mentioned by Kyle S. last month), it's a solid venue.
