First things first: service was excellent. No complaints on that front. But! (But!) I ordered an extra side of asparagus, and for $4 extra, I received a whopping total of 6 pieces of asparagus. Talk about a ripoff. I understand that margins in the restaurant industry are tight, but if they're that tight on a dish, don't offer it. I am so disappointed (and a little irked), that I paid so much to receive so little. My partner got the chicken tenders, which they described as extremely tough and chewy. Another fantastic experience. Today we sat outside on the patio. Maddie was our server and she was excellent-friendly, attentive and a lot of fun. Hubby and I I bought two of the seasonal drinks: apple cider mule which was yummy, no taste of any alcohol lol Hubby had the pumpkin something old fashioned which was so good he had two :) We shared the tavern pretzel: it was really good- tasty ( and I didn't use the cheese or mustard dipping sauce, it was that good!). We've been here several times over the years all of which have been really good. I tried their hushpuppies as an appetizer. There are a bunch of deep fried hushpuppies that come with orange marmalade sauce for dipping. Really good for sure. For my main course I got the Smokin Hot Burger which came with hot garlic Buffalo sauce, bleu cheese crumbles, tomato, and coleslaw the latter 2 I had left off my sandwich. This was excellent with the sauce and the crumbles really shining along with the juicy, perfectly cooked burger. They come with a side of undecided fries which is a mishmash of regular fries, waffle fries, and curly fries and are really fun and tasty. The restaurant continues to look awesome and the service has been stellar each and every time I've been here. Proof 124 is definitely a winner for us. read more

We were here on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy. The weight wasn't too bad at 30 minutes. Quaint little town it's in Lawrenceburg. They have a decent beer selection, which I like. They have stout on the menu. I'm not as much of an IPA guy. I got the Baja tacos and they were delicious. They had an excellent mango in the salsa. My older two girls shared a Meatball flatbread. It's crust is made with cauliflower so it's healthy. I didn't even taste it when I snagged a slice. They liked it. My sweetie, got the bacon, avocado chicken club. When I ask her what she thinks about it, she looks at me while chewing and gives me a thumbs up, but does not stop chewing. She has an extra light in her eye and a smile on her face. My German grandmother would call that the pinnacle of love. The Littles got mini cheeseburgers with mashed potatoes and they seem to have enjoyed it. They're hitting it pretty hard. The server was pretty cool. He's a bit of an old dude but down to earth, straightforward, and nose, his stuff. If you ask my youngest, she says he looks like he's been to outerspace, but I would say he looks like a solid fireman to me. This is an old fire station converted into a historic bar with a great tap menu and bar, but the food was fantastic. I had a sirloin steak for lunch and asked them to slice it for me. Well done the steak was nice and tender and tasted wonderful and the mashed potatoes were just unbelievable. My wife had to finish them because she loved them so much that she managed to capture them from my plate. She had the walleye which was a basket and she requested that the fries be replaced with a salad and they actually gave her the fries coleslaw and a wonderful dip sauce with the walleye and she loved the walleye. I started my meal with their loaded potatoe skins. These are a bit above and beyond normal loaded skins. These have smoked chicken in them...so they're healthier ?. Jokes aside, they are very good. Next I had their Ultimate Burger. Big and juicy with plenty of flavor. For me, the onion jam added a bit of sweetness that I am not a big fan of, but all in all it was a really good choice. This is an old firehouse converted into a bar/eatery so it is a bit noisy, but it isn't intended to be quiet and romantic. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We both had the pot roast grilled cheese sandwich and felt the food was good. We met again today and none of the food was good. Both of our fries came out really cold and were left. My buddy ordered the Cubana sandwich. He said it was cold and bland. I ordered the Hoosier tenderloin. The menu says it is breaded and deep fried. My sandwich was not breaded and looked to have been cooked on a flat top. It was dried out and leathery. We both agreed when we meet this summer that we will go to a new restaurant. read more

The manager is always actively involved, not just standing around -- they're constantly checking on guests and even personally asked me multiple times how my food was. It really shows they care about the service and the customers. On my most recent visit, my waiter was incredibly friendly and attentive. Even after I accidentally left my card behind, he made sure it was kept safe and returned it to me when I came back. Experiences like that are why this has become one of my favorite places. The place was very busy when we arrived at about 6:00 p.m. on Saturday night and we figured there'd be a very long wait but the hostess said 35 minutes and we waited exactly 32 minutes! We did say we would take first available so we ended up eating out on the patio and it was a little breezy and they could have used one more outside heater. Our waiter was quick to come to the table and take our order for cocktails and appetizers. My hubby and I had the big pretzel with the cheese dip and mustard dip, it was hot and fresh and delicious. Our friends ordered the buffalo chicken rangoons and thought they were excellent. I had the Proofs Poison cocktail and didn't care too much for it but last time I was there I had a Bahama Mama and really liked it. For dinner I ordered the Mahi club sandwich and had the undecided fries with it. My hubby had the tenderloin. Our friends had a couple dinner selections, the bourbon glazed salmon dinner and the Wagyu meatballs and spaghetti. Our meals were very good. We also ordered dessert. My hubby and I had the beignets with sauces on the side of caramel, chocolate, and raspberry. The Beignets came out to the table hot and fresh. Our friends ordered the tripple chocolate cake and really liked it as well. I ordered coffee but the waiter forgot to bring it. Our waitress hustled to keep our table served. She had our drinks within a few minutes of us being there and got appetizer orders in as well. The staff was great. They had "runners" bringing drinks and appetizers out quite promptly. I made it pretty clear the service was exceptional, we will move on to the important part....the food. The buffalo crab Rangoon. Who thought of this? If it wasn't Jesus himself, it was his best friend John. They were straight from heaven. Shredded buffalo chicken, cream cheese, more buffalo sauce and fried to lightly crisp perfection. The women at our table fought over these things. Two orders was not enough for us. Appetizers warm you up, we were in a frenzy. We had the hush puppy appetizer also. It was delicious, and I loved the orange marmalade. They were very good, but no one was wrestling the plate away like the buffalo chicken Rangoon previously mentioned. This place served peanut slaw. If you have never heard of it, it has a cult following at the restaurant called "Whiskey's" in Lawrenceburg. The men folk were quite please this was offered as a side at Proof 124. Every single person at our table got it for a side. Imagine creamy slaw, with an inch of find ground peanuts on top. The crunchy, salty combination with creamy slaw leaves you yearning for pilgrimages to Lawrenceburg to taste it on your lips. We were in food comas at this point. Yet the food kept coming. I was so IMPRESSED with our waitress. Fourteen peoples mixed drinks, appetizers and meals and only one single thing was incorrect/ and it was fixed very quickly. We go out frequently as a large group and this kind of service is rare. My fish tacos were good, but I had eaten so much I could only eat one. We all went home with so many leftovers. This would be a restaurant that I would split items. (But to clarify I would not split the buffalo crab Rangoon appetizer. You stab any hand that gets near them with a fork and hog them to yourself.) After we finished dinner, we walked outside to the large courtyard. There were Christmas gifts everywhere, and we enjoyed the walk up and down exploring the part of town where this restaurant was located. My husband and I found Proof 124 Table and Tavern on Yelp while we were in town to attend the Dearborn County Home and Garden Show. They were quite busy due to the Home and Garden Show; however, we only had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. We started off with an order of Hush Puppies, which were quite good and the perfect size for sharing. At the recommendation of the hostess, I ordered the Crab Cake sliders for my entree. They were quite delicious, though the Undecided Fries were rather ordinary. I will definitely substitute the fries for green beans the next time we visit. My husband ordered a burger, which was quite substantial. He really enjoyed it. The star of the meal, however, were the Beignets we ordered for dessert. OMG! Trust me, you haven't experience dessert until you've had these beignets. They are sooooo good, and a nice size for sharing. These are a must-have for sure! In addition to the great food, the building has a lot of charm and character, and the staff is helpful and welcoming. The service is also lightning-fast, even when faced with a crowd.
