This salesman, Geovanni, was the only one in the store, greeting me with a welcoming vibe. He was so well versed with every product that he took his time to educate me regarding each mattress no matter how long I took. The young gentleman was very polite with me I explained what was going on he let me try different beds and I told him that I needed a full size bed he then explained that he didn't have any full size bed there but they had a place that he can order from and they had one left and he was giving me a really great deal so I was excited he made sure that I like the bed and then after I told him that I wanted to purchase I would begin to sign all this information on a tablet and of course I was given a quite a big credit line through synchrony Bank so we signed and he explained to me he was giving me a free warranty, he was giving me a free mattress cover, and very nice and promising he said that it was a very good choice and I'd be happy they was giving me a big discount when it was all said and done they did deliver my bed a few days later set it up real nice people and I slept on that bed for about a week and I began noticing that where I laid like sinked downso I started sleeping on different parts of the bed to see if it still did the same thing and it did it left a big indentation that didn't come up so I called the customer service line and it instructed me to go on a website which kept crashing and it said if you want faster service we suggest you go on the website so I kept going on the website and it kept crashing so I finally stayed on hold for a very long time only to get someone to tell me that did you go to the mattress place you bought it from I said no I was instructed to call y'all to put in a claim and so after telling them that several times and going over it they were not listening to me so they finally took the info on the phone and told me someone would get with touch with me within 24 to 48 hours it is now the fourth day and I have not heard anything from anyone so I went up to Mattress firm like they asked me and spoke with a gentleman named Alex and he was not at all listening to what I had to say. He said I was not there and I cannot speak for anyone I said I understand but the guy told me that he was going to go to another location to work and he wasn't there and he kept telling me that he was not in the middle of the conversation and he couldn't verify what it was I understand I said but this is what he told me they told me to take pictures when I began taking pictures to send in I noticed that there was a big yellow tag and it said used I spent $3,300 on this bed. And when I told him it said used he said did he not tell you that it was a used bed it was aan outlet that he ordered the bed from. He began telling me that anyone knows that an outlet is called clearance items used floor models so you have no warranty and I said really I said he told me I had a warranty there's a warranty on my paperwork I said I want to talk to him he told me he still works there into locations and he said I will talk to my manager leave your phone number and your number on the bed which is your reference number to your claim and I will talk to the manager and then we'll talk with the guy that you talk to it but I want to let you know now just because I told you that it's not mean that you are going to be it's going to be in your best favor. The doctor told me to invest in a quality mattress, which is where my quest to find the perfect summer palace began. Google is the obviously starting point for a a mattress hunt, and usually I find ample amounts of qualified information and help. For some reason the mattress world seems to be ruled by shady salesman, biased websites, and a lack of clear And helpful information. I quickly found myself overwhelmed and decided to stop on over to my local mates store just to test some or and get a feel on my own. I've had plenty of bad shopping experiences, especially when it comes to salespersons. They almost always are so set on making a sale they don't actually offer any support and help you actually need. Entering the store I was greeted by Tucker, who immediately was so friendly and welcoming. He put me at ease immediately and I felt comfortable right away. He was actually there to help me and take the time to stress my needs. He was very patient and have me an incredible amount of attention and time. What was one a terrible and overwhelming experiment turned into a fun and released one. Tucker really knew his stuff and guided me until we narrowed down to my perfect mattress. At no point did I ever feel pressured or like Bree was just trying to make a sale. That is truly appreciated and wonderful. It was clear he just genuinely wanted to help me and I walked away feeling like I got a good deal and not taken advantage of like I usually do. Tucker. I can't thank you enough for all the help and great experience! You set the bar, and are a model of what sales people should be! It's a carefully designed one-way journey. The layout is extremely thoughtful--so thoughtful that it's almost impossible to visit just one section. Whether you're there to buy a single mug or simply "have a look," you will be guided through the entire store. I managed to do even better than that. I got lost. Not only did I get lost, I walked part of it twice. The most important detail: I was wearing four-inch stilettos. In IKEA, those are not shoes. They're a personal challenge. After what felt like a full hike, I finally reached the exit and thought I was done. That's when the real test began - checkout. Most stores at least give you options: self-checkout or cashier-assisted checkout. IKEA is very decisive. Self-checkout only. So there I was, scanning items, bagging them myself, slowly realizing I had taken on a new role. The screen even politely asked: "Are you a member?" I couldn't help laughing. I had just become a temporary cashier, without an employee discount, and without a paycheck. And then came the final surprise. At the exit - nothing. At Costco, for example, there's always someone checking receipts. At IKEA, the exit is completely empty. For a moment, you might think this reflects IKEA's deep trust in its customers. Then another thought occurs to you: maybe they also saved the salary of that employee. By the end of this IKEA trip, I had completed: a full-store walk, a detour with repetition, a high-heel endurance test, a self-checkout internship, and a quiet reflection on trust and cost control. Next time, I'll wear flat shoes. As for the salary and staff discount - I won't get my hopes up. I spent $53.69 in total that day. $29.95 went to pear-flavored sparkling water. Which means over half of my IKEA budget was... hydration. IKEA: where your legs get a workout, your patience is tested, and your self-checkout skills improve... all in one visit. I guess I overestimated my ability to wear high heels. I may have slightly overestimated my high-heel endurance. In hindsight, I clearly overestimated my ability to survive IKEA in high heels. I confidently assumed I could handle high heels at IKEA. I was wrong.
