Kaleen Dolan and Chris Heroldt Dueling Pianos and Darrell Cole on Drum Set

Freaking Loved My First Time at The Original Mothers ‍ Greeted very warmly at the door and just adored the Bartender Peaches who made delicious drinks and serves them with love. Kaleen Dolan and Chris Heroldt were playing Dueling Pianos that day and these two are phenomenal musicians who bring fire and joy to the stage. They are dedicated to making the show about what their audience would love and can quite literally play anything. Love the addition of having a Drum Set to Pianos and Darrell Cole was rocking it. I genuinely cannot wait until I can go back again.

Perfect for a pre-game night out. Great happy hour and the bartenders were speedy and friendly. Think local hole in the wall dive bar, but definitely a fun time. With the $5 drink specials and Saturday singles event you are sure to start the night off with a good time at TOMs.

    iPhone 6 Plus for reference.

Visiting a friend but not my first time in Chicago and have heard great things about Mother's. WRONG. So wrong. Nearly 10pm and there's maybe 20 people in the bar on a Friday night. Okay, no big deal. It's early. But then charging my friends and myself $11 for the smallest vodka tonic in the history of vodka tonics. Seriously? Just came from Three Dots and a Dash where a specialty cocktail with three top shelf liquors cost $14, and then come here where a bottom well vodka tonic cost me just $3 less in the smallest plastic cup? Get out of TOWN. The whole scene here in this bar is a joke along with this price gouging; due to what, the coronavirus? We will never know.

Best bar and manager in the city hands down. We love Jason, he is so friendly and welcoming every time we arrive. Mother's is the go to when you have a big group and everyone is ready for a dance party. Go for a good time, the best for late night as it's open until 4a on Friday and 5a on Saturday

This place is consistently fantastic. If I lived closer, I probably would gain 20 pounds eating The Ferdi

It has that classic Chicago piano bar feel -- lively but comfortable, energetic without being overwhelming. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the fun atmosphere. Everyone is friendly and attentive, and you never feel overlooked. A special shoutout to Michelle, who goes above and beyond to make sure guests are taken care of. She's warm, professional, and genuinely makes you feel welcome, which makes a big difference on a busy night. Of course, the highlight is the live music. The performers are incredibly talented and know how to read the room, keeping the energy up while still creating moments where you can sit back and enjoy the music. Kaleen Dolan is especially impressive -- an amazing musician with a great voice and presence. She connects with the crowd effortlessly and makes every set feel personal and engaging. Whether you're out with friends, on a date, or just stopping in for a drink and some live music, Redhead Piano Bar consistently delivers a fun, memorable experience. The music itself was also really good and felt like the main focus of the whole experience. If you are solo, there are not always the best views of the stage depending on where you sit, but it still felt worth it because the performance is strong enough that you stay engaged no matter where you are seated. They ask that conversation volume be kept to a minimum for the performers. The food was decent and a little pricey, but for the overall experience it felt worth spending a bit more. Between the atmosphere, service, and music, it added to the night rather than taking away from it. Overall the combination of great customer service, good energy, and the location near the riverfront made it a really enjoyable experience! The Cosmo martini to start was DEElicious! We were seated at a long table, but there were just 2 of us. Service was efficient and friendly, a little slow. We got food before drinks, but it was fine. Despite the name, there were a couple of instruments hanging up as decorations, like a trumpet and trombone. The bacon wrapped shrimp was good, but usually EACH shrimp has bacon on it, but this was a skewer with bacon wrapped around it. The potatoes on the side were good though. The music was nice and mellow, and the bathrooms were clean and clever, with pictures of French scenes. We saw the owner, but he did not play this time. The 'tip jar' for musicians in the middle of the room, suspended from the ceiling, was cleverly done. We shared a dessert of melt in the mouth chocolate mousse cake or something; it was awesome, very worth it, but the bar bill was quite high. With admission and drinks, I'd go AFTER dinner or a big lunch, and stick with wine if I'm on a budget.

I came here for the first time knowing my grandparents started coming here in the 50's for date night jazz. This place was founded in 1947 and you can see they've preserved this place to keep that same feel with all the greats from the past... Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, George Benson, Lonnie Liston Smith, Hugh Masekela, Dexter Gordon, etc. (those are my favorites!). I saw the Kyle Swan Quartet. They were absolutely amazing. You see young and seasoned musicians that are so talented. I usually go to Birdland in NYC but this place, Jazz Showcase, is better to me because it feels more welcoming and like home here versus a production at a theater. We interact with the artists here-- well, they interact with us and make us feel like we are at home and like we are supposed to be there with them, not a performance transaction. $25+ for a show and booking online was a breeze. It's comfortable here, chairs are good and there's sofas in reserved areas but the whole seating area has a great view of the stage no matter where you're sitting. The staff seems gracious and kind of everyone who visits and genuinely wants you to have a great time. They see very selective in their talent that performs here... but why wouldn't they when they've been here for so long and had the best artists perform here?! I came the night that The only downside that may be for some people is they don't have food... only drinks. Me personally, I ate before and don't come for food, I come for the jazz... but they've got beer, cocktails, and other spirits. Macallan and Laphroaig for those who need a good whiskey. Come here if you're ready to relax and listen to great jazz with artists who know their craft. I'm coming back with friends... or even alone. Yeah, it's cool like that. ***Side note: the GPS may take you to the Main Street and you may not see the sign right away and actually have to turn the corner on Plymouth and walk down that side street to get to the end of the block (where the dead end/no outlet is).

Table 12 for the win!…read more I was in Rosemont for a work trip, which usually means dull dinners, early nights and generally a bit Puritanical. Since we were in Chicago, I took my boss and coworker to the Tiki TIki next door for a shot of Malort. It's Chicago, after all. 1 shot became 2, 2 became 4, and before I knew it, the bartender was ushering us through the swinging door into Pete's once they opened. Fun fact: we were the first ones in and also shut the bar down. From the moment the pianists started, it was clear this place was on point. Even them doing introductions and giving the ground rules was done musically. All four singers were wicked talented, and rotated in and out through the night. On occasion, they came together and became a full on quartet playing instruments other than pianos. Vocals were amazing, the energy in the place was such that I didn't even realize the time until they did last call and the lights came up. The layout of Pete's lends itself to entertainment. Regardless of what table you are at, you have a great view of the stage and no one has their back to the performance. The atmosphere is covered with fun and bright signs all over and despite being a larger place, it feels intimate when your song is played and everyone sings along. The table service was also great. She never hovered, but we also never lacked a drink. The next best thing about this place, after the performers, is the level of crowd interaction. There were folks singing along to every single song, and at times it was the whole bar. A couple of times during the night, folks were running around the bar riding a horse's head (or maybe a unicorn) on a stick. Somehow, it all just made sense. Pete's turned what could have been another boring end of a work trip sitting in the hotel into a night full of laughs, shots, and having a hoarse voice for days.
