TOO NOISY Booked a…read moreroom in advance for a layover sleep on our way from Ottawa to Nova Scotia. If you're in need of a good nights rest I suggest you request a top floor room as the floors are not carpeted and there is absolutely no sound barrier. After an hour of listening to what seamed like a football game going on in the room upstairs, I tried calling the front desk and realized they had a phone but no outlet to plug it into so I went down. One of the ladies at the front desk went up to talk to them but it went on for another 90 minutes. My husband went down to see if they could change our room and was told it wasn't possible and that they couldn't say anything to them until after 11 pm so I went up myself. The man in the room was very apologetic, he didn't realize it was that noisy and the banging abruptly stopped. It was quite evident that nobody at the front desk bothered to do a courtesy knock on their door. The continental breakfast left a lot to be desired, eggs were watery and tasteless and the bacon almost seemed deep fried. I was confused with the tip jar on the counter, I served myself, got my own coffee and cleaned my own table off. Gratuity is for service and there wasn't much of that here. I am quite aware that it is a hotel and there will be noise, doors slamming, the odd kid screaming, etc. but we paid 300 dollars for a good nights sleep and I expected better.

The staff even double checks to make sure everything is in good order. Little touches like extra pillows and warm duvets makes it cozy and comfortable for the entire stay. The complimentary breakfast has the best made to order ploys. Which are gluten friendly and can be nut free as well, for those with any allergies. They offer raspberry, blueberry, and apple this time around and they never disappoint! The maple syrup is local and the yogurt is from across the river in Canada. Everything is super fresh and always delicious! Highly recommend staying here any time of year, but especially great in the winter time as you can bring your snow mobile and park right out front and drive down Main Street to the trails after a hearty breakfast! Don't forget they also have a full bar and restaurant as well from 4-9 in the evening. The smoked Old Fashioned is amazing and made generously with a proper Luxardo cherry & dehydrated orange peel. They also have season drink specials that were equally tempting. For dinner, the scallops fettuccini with broccolini were perfection and not gritty. Service here is always warm and friendly, as well as quick and efficient! The ambiance is a lovely little upscale pub. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the owner who welcomed us and showed us up to our room. This suite was very spacious and quite reasonable given the nature of the room. We were offered cocktails in the lounge and showed around. They have a lovely library with a selection of french and english books with a computer for guests to use if required. Self serve coffee is available in the dining room at any time. For breakfast we were served wonderful french toast with fresh fruit. We had a bit of time to kill so I took advantage of the front porch to make a few calls and enjoy a coffee. There is also a quaint boutique on the lower level of the inn where some great clothing and gifts can be foudn. This is a great spot and offers a whole new level of accommodations in Edmundston. Wether you're here on business or for a vacation, I highly recommend staying here.

Pool looks great (we did not go as it was busy and did not want to intrude). Breakfast was continental with hot eggs, sausages, ham, and potato flat things (name escapes me at the moment), and has two waffle makers. Second floor pass through to the restaurant/casino (bring your hotel room key because you will not get back in if you do not have it). Awesome coffee machine at the exit. Room design is great. Two types of blinds. Beds comfy. Pillows soft. Toilet, and shower/get ready area, separate in the room. The bad: Carpet design is not great. Staff at breakfast was a little rude though. Only two carriages for luggage. This is a " pit stop " hotel for longer travellers. But it is a nice one. Restaurant is good and casino, although small, is nice also. Worth the stop.

Just turned on the 55" flat screen TV, apparently a genuine 4K signal is not important to a customer paying nearly $500CDN for a room. You enter in here to a tastefully decorated lobby with a little convenience store with small amount of items to the fit of the check in desk. There is also some comfortable seats in the lobby area and an open view to Frank's restaurant. The room I had reserved was a nice one bedroom Queen with small living room. The room comes with a fridge and is quite relaxing and homely feeling. An automatic thermostat is handy to set the room temperature. Although the first night as left the HVAC unit on it was a bit loud during the night. So on night two I shut it off and slept better. A nice large easy to use LCD TV adorned the wall which was great. Overall I was impressed with this place. A very good restaurant on site was a bonus as I was tired after a long day. Free wifi although a bit slow in peak hours was a bonus! Only Negative was the soap and shampoo products for Four Points. It seriously smells unappealing. 10 years ago Four Points had a lemon scented one that was much better. At many hotels I want to bring the shampoo home. Here I barely want to use it and think of bringing some from home it smells so putrid! If Starwood corporate is reading this it smells like something they would provide you on ration in a State penitentiary prison. Please change.

I initially had 1 dog and 1 cat but when I found out they would charge $200/week I made different accomodations for my cat. So I should have been charged $100/week but no they still charged $200/week. I tried to ask the Managers Jen & Randy if they could explain why they had charged me for $200/week when I only had one dog and they never answered. I went on their website and their policy states they charge $100/week per dog. So I finally was able to determine who the owners are and messaged them and they will be issuing me a credit. The Manager Randy also told me that they could not extend my reservation past 3 weeks according to their policy, and of course there is no mention of it on their policy. If you have any complaints about the Gateway Motel I suggest that you go right to the owner G Suites Hospitality!

Thieves + unsafe motel I booked a room on the site of this motel on the 17th of August for the…read morefollowing night. I immediately received a mail telling me that I had to wait a confirmation that never came. The following night when I arrived in Madawaska with my son and husband after a long trip complicated by heavy rains and many delays (coming from Quebec), we went to the Gateway Motel, hoping that maybe they hadn't seen my reservation. We arrived at 11 :30 and noticed that there only were 4 or 5 cars parked, most of the rooms were empty. As the front door was opened we entered and tried to call the emergency number we found in the lobby. Nobody answered. I then tried to call the manager, no answer. I left a message telling to call me back as soon as possible. We then went upstairs, thinking his office might be upstairs but we had the surprise to find us directly in the corridor leading to the rooms. Had we been terrorists or any all-intentioned perso, it's just frightening... I tried several times to call the emergency number but no answer. We then decided to find another motel but since we couldn't find any, we had no other choice than to sleep in our car. Two days later, my husband noticed the amount of the night had been withdrawn from our bank account. I sent a mail to the manager to ask for a refund and explain what happened. He told me that my reservation had been confirmed by mail (a mail I've never received), that they had tried to contact me all day long to know the time of our arrival (I haven't received any mail nor call) and refused to give me my money back, ignoring my messages when I told him I hadn't received any mail from him. I can only advise against this establishment run by dishonest persons and in which anyone can enter so easily while the clients are sleeping.
