The food was great! It was our first time in. My son had the crab legs and loved them. I had the fried catfish and Cajun boiled shrimp. It was great too. Both meals came with corn which was very good. We also had the armadillo eggs which are large jalapeños stuffed with cream cheeses and meat...awesome. Also tried the gator sausage which was tasty too. We will be back!

JG score of 5/10 (+2 for food, +1 for atmosphere, 0 for price, +1 for fountain Diet Dr Pepper, 0 for typical service and +1 for we would return) A trusted food lover we know talked highly of this place so we decided to try it.....it was good. Our food began with the fried pickles. These are the chip/ slice type. They were some good chips. Good batter, different, but good...they came with ranch. Next came out orders: chicken fried steak and 3 pounds of crawfish. The chicken fried steak was very good with gravy and mashed potatoes; the crawfish was just okay and came with mushrooms, potatoes and corn on the cob. It was good but not standout. The atmosphere was interesting....better inside than out. Outside looked rough and was down in a low area= a little hard to get out of without 4 wheel drive or a dash through the red light. The inside was classic looking with an unfinished appearance and signatures hand written all over the walls. Plenty of tables or picnic tables to sit at. There is a bar and TV mounted on the wall. Good shack type feel. The price for us was each over our $15 mark but that is okay when you try places. They do have fountain Diet Dr Pepper. The service was friendly and typical. We probably won't go back here again because of sheer distance from us; however, if we were nearer, we would go back for the fried fish.

Clayton Jones played live music and was very good. Chicken fried chicken was good but batter could have been crispier. Nice veggies were seasoned and tasty. Overall it was a fun evening with lively music.

The aftermath of my very first pound of crab legs!

Food used to be really good a year ago but since has really dropped off. Just don't go take it from a local.

We wanted to show the kid Caddo lake so we drove from Dallas to do a tour with Captain Ron…read more Ron is a down home friendly guy who obviously loves people, his job, and Caddo lake. During the 90 minute boat tour, he was enthusiastic and passionate about the lake. He really seemed to enjoy sharing his immense knowledge the lake, both real and legend. I learned a lot and he made the tour very interesting. The day we went it was a bit chilly and overcast. It had just rained so the lake water was muddy, and therefore we did not see much wildlife, just a busy beaver and some blue herons. You can go during the summer when the water is clearer and see turtles and dragon flies. During the summer, the climate is much hotter and humid and there is little air flow on the lake, so be prepared to sweat. Cool and overcast actually was preferable IMO. The wife and I had toured the lake about a decade ago and we left from the northern part of the lake. Our opinion is that despite the fact that Captain Ron did a great job, the northern part of the lake is more interesting than the southern part where Captain Ron is now located.

Had the best experience on the water today. Did a late afternoon tour w/ Captain Ron. Very sweet…read moreguy...full of fun lil facts, stops to admire birds, explain the scenery...just an all around great experience. So glad we booked this. Do yourself a favor...book the experience!! When back in town...will definitely shoot for a full moon tour!!!
