Unfortunately I had a horrible experience with this place. If I could give a - it would be a -10 for food and service issues. I ordered online but when I arrived the food had not even been started as 1 element was unavailable. It was prepaid and no message was sent. I finally got the food and found 2 items missing so had to turn around and go back. We ended up eating our takeaway there. The pork chops were tough and way over seasoned. Asparagus was burnt and brussel sprouts disgusting. 60 plus dollars later I went home and ate something there. The pork rinds I recommend as they were good. The rest was terrible and the worst experience I have had in a long time. I let assistant manger know and she said their order system had issues. I was patient and kind as I know things happen but for the cost go anywhere else! Subway would have been better. Really bad food unfortunately. No offer or attempt to make it right. read more

This little while in the wall in Hawkins definitely deserves the hype! We happen to come in on bingo night (unexpected) which ended up in most of the tables being full. The hostess was friendly and let us know it shouldn't be that much of a wait to be seated aside from the fact that it looked PACKED! We patiently waited and were seated in less than 15 minutes, definitely worth the wait! The food portions were generous and everything was hot and fresh! Will definitely make it out to Hawkins again for the fun atmosphere and delicious food! read more

Thanksgiving weekend, stopped in on our way back to ft worth, 6 in our party, seated fairly quickly. Our server was funny and service was attentive. Food all came out as ordered, everything was good. Chicken Fried Steak was tender according to the two that ordered it. My burger was good but could use a bit of seasoning. Giant onion for appetizer was more than enough for those that wanted some. Went there prior to the new owners and the new ones have kept up the great work in terms of food.

Came the first time, our waitress passed by our table multiple times to tend to other customers before us. Only came to us when stopped personally. Came AGAIN, and told us our appetizers would come out with our entrees. Fine, until an hour passed and no food or communication. We asked for our tickets for our drinks and we were told that "it takes 30-45 to be served". As a restaurant employee MYSELF, that is absurd. Mind you, we were the LAST TABLE (because at that point everyone else was served). And we tried to tell the waitress to just give us our ticket so we could leave and we were met with tension instead of understanding. If we could've had an honest response or a reason for the wait, we would've understood. But nope. So if you're not white, you're not getting good service. Best of luck to customers of any color! read more

Best food near us! Service is wonderful and they offer music on some nights. Tuxedo cats was there last night! They are definitely worth seeing. We had cheesy brisket melt sandwich, quesadillas, and chicken fried steak. The sandwich was delicious and so were the chicken quesadillas. The chicken fried steak was enough for 2-3 people. This location in Hawkins, TX is a nice venue, serving a wide variety of great food and entertainment. A bar is onsite serving liquor and beer. Service is prompt and attentive. The service was good the catfish was good but the pizza is the worst I haven't had no flavor the crust wasn't done and when I mentioned that the pizza was horrible no answer just brought me a go box. I don't know why I keep giving this place a chance. I am a hawkins resident and want so bad to have a place to eat at. This is not it. Horrible service the last 3 times in a row. 2 hours to get food average food. Next time we Had to ask for our server several times. Tonight we called in an order. They said 30 minutes. We showed up. They had not even put it in. Said it would be another 30 minutes. Nope. We cancelled the order. I have people ask all the time where they should go eat. Came here on impulse after being at metal detecting show. Had great reviews. It is in a place I worked in long ago. The food came out as preferred. The service was great. A family friendly local hang out that is a Must Try! My only negative: allowing people to smoke in seating area, even if it's outside. The wind was blowing the smell right to us. Note: inside was full. Maybe have a designated smoking area on the other side of the building. Glad the customer left, by the time food arrived. Positive: customer service was excellent! Shout out to Michelle our server! Friendly and unexpectedly fast service with huge portion sizes at a great cost. Really liked the drink selection and the variety of menu items. Been wanting to try this joint as it is within 35 minutes of the house and off the beaten path. Looked cool and the menu looked delicious. Arrived early (4:30) on a Friday night and there was no wait. Place was not busy but started to fill up with the karaoke crowd. I am 60 and I might have been the youngest patron there! Server was super friendly and gave us some recommendations for food since we were first timers. Ordered a beer and a blueberry lemon drop. Pretty disappointed in the bartender. The drinks took about 15 minutes to come out. She found plenty of time to shoot the bull at the bar while we we waiting for our drinks. STRIKE 1. Our server kept apologizing for the wait. We ordered the loaded fries, patty melt and creeper burger. Pretty disappointed in the loaded fries as they were not very loaded and pretty small. Looks like they had been sitting around in the kitchen a minute. The patty melt was overdone, did not have enough cheese on it and was dry. We had to get extra sauce and only ate half of it. The creeper was a monster. The burger in general was good, but the patty was overcooked and a bit dry. Strike 2 and 3. All in all, the place had a nice local vibe. Maybe the bartender and cook were just having a bad night. Might try again. Not sure. read more

Great for lunch or dinner. We like to sit on the patio and enjoy the evening. I love it when they have live music. We've also gone on karaoke night. The waitresses are always friendly and s make great drink recommendations. My favorite is the Pig in the henhouse sandwich. But can't go wrong from pork skins to pizza to ribeye steak. read more

This is a remarkable GEM in the middle of small-town east Texas. Food is delicious and portions are excellent. The worse downside is that the wait for food can get long because they are so busy. Better have something to entertain your kids with, because we waited about 20-30 minutes during a busy weekend. Actually, the worst was that they had SMOKING in the outdoor section still inside the restaurant. As other reviewers state, please move smoking away from the dining section. New to the area and happened upon this adorable restaurant. Actually more of a bar and grill. Great menu with a little bit of everything. My husband got the rib eye steak sandwich and I got the taco salad. The sandwich looked delicious and came with pub chips and coleslaw. I had this massive taco salad with beef. It was all really good. They have Banda that play on the weekends so I would imagine it is a lot of fun! We will be back! read more

After having to run out to Big Sandy after hard farm work, we stopped here on the way home, looking for a good burger and it was awesome. It was a Saturday and the hostess had an FFA competition so the servers were covering the seating duties, too. Very popular place, seating was at a premium but we got a seat and a lovely server ( who seemed to be working more than others) . Although swamped we were served quickly and friendly. We both ordered the Red Rooster Burger - which, to be honest was almost too big to bit into! Husband thought his patty was over but mine was perfect. Bacon was crispy, cheese melt. He had ordered jalapeños but the kitchen had been so slammed that the cook hadn't had opportunity to refresh his stash. They took the charge off the bill and still brought him the peppers once ready. I had the old fashioned drink with house bourbon and it was so nice I had it twice!! He had his choice of IPAs -in cans- which he's not usually fond of, but the Voodoo Ranger in a frosted pint glass hit the spot. Burgers were served with fries - which were hot, seasoned just right, and not soggy. The menu has a lot of choices, next time he'll get the rib eye tacos and I'm going for the nachos! Cold beer and jalapeño poppers! Obsessed with this restaurant. The staff and food are both on point!

Be prepared to fight the flys for your food. I shudder to think of the conditions in the kitchen. The service is good however.

We went for the first time this evening. The food was outstanding. And service was excellent. I had the sirloin tacos. When they say that the taco shells are light and crispy, they aren't exaggerating! They're a bit spicy but not too much. My husband had the catfish and he said it was very good. Today I had the best breakfast I have eaten in East Texas. Possibly the best breakfast in all of Texas. I ordered the Scattered, Smothered and Covered with bacon. The food was filling and delicious. Now for the kicker.... I ordered a biscuit as my side dish, low and behold when it arrived it was twice the size of a normal biscuit and there were two of them. The biscuits were served with a cup of country gravy and I might add the biscuits were incredible and the gravy was the best I have ever eaten. The service was on point and the ambiance matched the food as I felt very comfortable in this down home old fashioned eatery where good food and service still means something!! Red Rooster is consistently fantastic. Perfect assortment of food choices. Their wedge salad with chicken(grilled or fried) is like the big chop houses in the metroplex. Entertainment is quality and the karaoke guy is top notch and the karaoke singers are very entertaining. Top this off with higher caliber servers. It's a win!! read more
