She has seen weddings, receptions, birthdays, proms, quenceneras, baby showers, bridal showers, engagement announcements, rehearsals, bridal shows, retirement parties, dinner parties, public and private Teas, Holiday parties, business meetings, celebrations of life, fund raising events and even political rallies.The house was originally built in 1770 by William Walthall and passed down to his daughters, Polly and Susannah (our purported ghost), then sold to a Doctor Anderson who extended the front of the house in the 1830s. Later, he sold it to a Doctor Friend who resided there when she would serve as a civil war hospital. Sold again, yet to another doctor, Dr. Thomas Cheatham, the house grew again to form a “T” shaped structure. After his death, the home would fall into severe disrepair only to be restored in the 1930s and named Wrexham. The Hague family lived there and maintained what became a “mansion” in the 1960s when it was added to once again. The new addition begged for an upgraded name, which is the now, Wrexham Hall. Sold to Judge Gates in the 1970s, he would sell it and have it moved to its current location. The last addition was made by the Brennan family, an event room that would serve many for years to come. Everywhere you looked, there was a stunning backdrop for wedding photos. We were especially grateful to have the day-of coordinated by Katie, who worked behind the scenes to coordinate with all of us (coming from Florida, Texas, Maryland, Tennessee, & New York) and our vendors, she even managed my sons wedding timeline. It was evident that she genuinely cared about making the day special for our family. Her dedication and professionalism shined upon us the whole time. Because of Katie's expertise and dedication, we were able to relax and truly enjoy the day without any stress or concerns. Plant Zero is a pretty cool place. It's a big building where artists can rent small spaces to work…read morein or use as galleries. I've met numerous artists, including photographers, potters, sculptors, painters, furniture makers and makeup artists who all have spaces here. It also lends itself to a very collaborative atmosphere since they all are right next to each other. In addition, you can host events here. I've been to lots of events here and have worked with groups that have hosted events here and everything is always very nice. There's one big room where the events are usually centered. The room is pretty basic and can be decorated to fit a variety of styles. They have funky lantern lights you can use if you want. I've been to auctions, art shows, parties and fundraisers, each of which gave the space its own unique feel. If you've got a larger event, you can set up space in the hallways between the artists' spaces. I've been to parties where there's food and a bar in the main room, but there are other bars placed in other open locations to allow people to flow around the building. This is pretty cool too since there's usually some random art installations hanging throughout the hallways. There's also ample parking in a lot across from the building, which is nice since this can be a problem at lots of downtown facilities. I'd definitely consider Plant Zero for a special event.
