Honestly, if you shop online, you better be sure you're keeping what you buy because returning or exchanging something is unnecessarily difficult. Even though they state a 14-day return policy, you can't simply take your item back to the store--even if it's only been one day since pickup. You have to email, wait for approval, and sometimes make phone calls just to arrange a basic return or exchange. If it happens to be the weekend, good luck, because there's no one available to handle it. I love their merchandise, but the return process makes me think twice about ordering online again. Great clothes, terrible return and exchange experience.

So when it came time for him to buy his very own tuxedo for our wedding, he was psyched... honestly more excited than I was about dress shopping. Basically, buying a tuxedo comes down to two options (like any suit really): off the rack or custom made. There are two reasons why you would choose to have a suit custom made. One is that you have a funky figure or size and off the rack clothes don't fit you. The other is that you are incredibly picky. Guess which camp my husband fits in? Right, the second. He looked at Levy's, which had a large off the rack selection and he decided that the choices were not ACTUAL tuxedos but really suits pretending to be tuxedos. They had pseudo-custom but it didn't allow him to truly follow the tuxedo rule book. In steps J. Michaels. J Michaels might be the worst thing to ever happen to our checking account. My husband has found an oasis where he can make every single decision about the clothes he buys. His tuxedo is his favorite outfit. He got to choose everything and I mean everything: shape of the color, fabric of collar, fabric and grain of jacket, lining, length, width, how many pleats did you want, Sir? He had a wonderful experience. He brought along his brother to help and the next weekend they went back so his brother could order one too. They both looked amazing on our wedding day and I credit that to the good fits they got at J. Michaels. In addition to catering to the funky sized and super picky, they do sell off the rack clothes. It's a full service establishment, they will even help you learn to tie your bow tie. If suits are your thing and you enjoy being picky, this is your kind of place and I would strongly suggest you make an afternoon of it.

Since I live on the West Coast, A Billy Reid store was always a thing I would see on the Internet…read morethat I wanted to visit. I would see a few pieces at Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdale's. And when I looked online I would see pictures of the brand's stores...charming, and beautifully designed. The Nashville store is so cute and it's on a really lovely tree lined street with older classic brick houses and just a few choice shops and cafes. When you walk in the store it's cozy but very airy and there's a women's and men's section. The salesman Joel was so nice and offered me a glass of wine or water and just let me basically look at what I wanted and then brought whatever I wanted to the dressing room. They weren't pushy at all and I bought the most beautiful shirt. You'll find pieces here that you won't find in the department stores that normally carry Billy Reid. The store is just a 20 minute walk from the stores at the Gulch. When I walked over I was wearing a jacket because it had been raining but it got quite warm (the humidity). So when I went in the store, which was so nice and cool, I took off my jacket. The salesman took my jacket and nicely hung it up on a hanger.When I purchased my shirt, he beautifully folded up my jacket and put it alongside my new shirt in the bag. So nice! Fantastic service and I will come back here in a heartbeat. Yes the price is a bit high but a lot of the pieces are made in Italy, and the quality is great....you'll find pieces here that you won't find in any of the department stores that carry Billy Reid.

Besides my personal opinion, it should be duly noted that since my last review, Mr. Reid was bestowed the incredible honor of being awarded the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. For those who don't follow the Fashion industry like it's their Fantasy Football league... this is a MASSIVE deal. Some say it's practically the Oscars or ahem, Super Bowl of this very particular industry. I am proud that a Southern designer (he hails from Alabama) conquered! With current collaborations with K-Swiss and J Crew, this brand is certainly on the rise! With that being said, Billy has just 6 retail locations so it is quite fantastic that we have one in the Hill Center. I was seduced my an up to 70% off sign when I was skipping around and couldn't pass up the stellar deals. My eyes were enticed by the Classic Peacoat in a natural shade which was regularly priced at $495 but I was able to snatch it up for $150! What. A. Deal. Consider that this piece will never go out of style so event at the original price tag, there is a ton of value for the amount of wear this classic will get! Billy's collection is one that will only get better with wear and tear. My love affair didn't just stop there. I couldn't help but notice a mighty fine pair of high waisted and wide bottomed black trousers referred to as the Heirloom ($265). Pants are always a tougher purchase for me especially due to my short inseam but with the assistance of a staffer who pinned my new pants and a $12 alteration fee (inexpensive), I am now the owner of a gorgeous pair of trousers that make me feel like a million bucks. Lastly, the staff were just a delight from the moment that I originally came in over the weekend to browse when they offered to put the peacoat on hold until I could make a choice on what color I preferred to the nice lad who was literally on the floor pinning my pants for alteration today. TIP: If you love Levis, Billy Reid will start carrying certain styles of this other classic at this location in just a couple of weeks!
