We rafted late May 2025. The water level has gone down further since then (June 2025) (so depending on when you read this, you may not be able to do the full day trip anymore on that section of the river, which is water level dependent, so do the half day!). The lunch they made was exceptional - veggies, BBQ chicken, steak, oh my! I am a bit of a stickler when it comes to white water, since over a decade ago I spent 2 summers guiding on a class IV river on the East Coast. I was new to going down the Clackamas, but I could tell by the lines that the guide took that he had tons of experience. Most folks outside of the whitewater community underestimate how much a river can change based on water level, which makes rafting on rivers that do not have regular damn releases to stabilize water levels harder. Big powerful class IV rapids can become mellower class III at lower water, but a class III can also become a class V with less water -- due to technical difficulty and sometimes a much narrower set of possibilities for success. Our guide had seen that river at every type of water level. Many times over. That is exactly the type of guide you want if you have kids in the boat or anyone who is nervous about rafting. I cannot recommend Blue Sky Whitewater enough. If you are local to Portland or visiting from out of town, book it now. You will not be disappointed.

But from the moment I arrived, everyone made me feel so comfortable and welcome that those nerves disappeared immediately. Our guide, Peter, was absolutely amazing. He was extremely thorough with safety instructions and made sure everyone felt safe and confident throughout the trip, while still keeping everything fun and exciting. He had such a great way with people and really helped make the experience memorable. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and even the owner took the time to be kind and personable, which made the whole experience even better. You can tell they genuinely care about giving people a great experience. This trip made me want to come back before it was even over, and I'll definitely be returning this summer to hopefully try one of the more challenging rafting trips. On our most recent Oregon trip, we drove a couple of hours from Portland to raft the Salmon River…read morewith All Adventures Rafting. I was very nervous, as I'm a wimp and haven't rafted in about 15 years. They outfitted us in helmets, wetsuits, and booties. Mike J (MJ) was our guide, and one of the other employees told us we got their best guide. Mike was extremely patient and explained everything in detail. He showed us how to stay in sync and how to go down the Class V waterfall, Husum Falls. Larry in the kayak followed behind us to save us in case we fell out. Luckily, we didn't, thanks to our awesome guide. The waterfall is optional, and they gave us a lot of prep for it (there's a special stance for going down). We even got out of the raft and went up on a bridge so we could watch kayak Larry go down the falls. Mike told us it's the only rapid of its kind in North America. We had to go down; I couldn't miss out! We went down, no one went overboard, although two of us hit our heads on something. Still worth it. The trip was totally exhilarating for the first half, and calm nature-watching for the last portion. The waterfall marked the half point. During the first half, Mike was all business trying to prevent us from dying. We could relax a bit more during the second half, and he gave us some history about the area and pointed out the wildlife. It was hilarious when the visiting Canadian geese kept honking and flying away from us. The beautiful scenery surrounding us as we rafted down the river made it a perfect day. I definitely recommend All Adventures Rafting. The trip wasn't too scary once we got going, and the cold water felt great on the hot day. The staff is friendly, laid-back, and knowledgeable. They seemed like cool people, and worked hard to give us a safe and enjoyable adventure.

He gave us simple and easy instructions, which we quickly learned and were able to steer our raft down the river for 2.5 hours. No one fall out of our boat. There were 7 of us raning from 9 to 59 years old. A couple of people went in the water to swim. The last bit, rapids, was choppy for the swimmers. Most of us took a turn to ride at the front of the raft. It was ecstatic! Like the guide said, there was not time for water and bathroom breaks. Other than a pair of water shoes, you don't need a hat or glasses. You will get plenty wet and lots of fun. We bought the USB key with photos. Some are pretty blurry but captured your experience for the trip. Highly recommended family activity.
