We visited for the opening of Heidi Snyder's and Dorothy DePaulo's "Wild in the City!" and were pleased to view not only all of their incredibly detailed drawings, but the eclectic works of the other artists featured on the other side of the gallery (not part of the show). The partitions created additional viewing space but made for a tight squeeze once all of the gallery goers filed in. I feared for some of the delicate works of art! It'd be nice to come back during regular hours (and not First Friday!) to spend more time studying each piece.

After going months without creative contact, it was refreshing to be around other artists and be able to talk about art without any shame or pretense! The facility itself is very clean and well-maintained. There is ample gallery space with plenty of opportunities for artist members and volunteers to showcase their work. The website is also very comprehensive and makes it very easy to look up upcoming opportunities, past successes, and current work and contact information of the artists it supports. I've been coming to 40 west for years and been an artist through them for 2 years, I had also talked to them previously about the bully and my fear and thought they would stand with me. They took a little while to respond and said they would look into it. When I filed the lawsuit against the bully, I sent on the cover sheet and said I would be happy to provide any evidence or answer any questions. I had been clear about needing a deadline of 9/30, I though a month and half to hear anything was more than reasonable, but they just ghosted me. So now I had to file a lawsuit against them to try and be treated equitably and so I can feel safe moving forward. having to do that, when I'm already dealing with someone who is unhinged is crap.

Heirloom Baking was on hand for a cookie workshop ($20), several food trucks were available for grab and go yummies and THE RINK was open for post shopping ice skating fun. Spectra Art Space is such a gem in Denver! Their current installation, Spookadelia: Unspoken, is an all-ages, narrative-driven, and highly interactive art experience that's unlike any other exhibit I've seen. It's part art, part theater, and completely mesmerizing. The mix of colors, textures, lights, and sounds pulled me in from the moment I walked through the door. If you visit on a Friday or Saturday, you'll even get to see some of the Spookadelia characters come to life, walking through the space! It's creative, inspiring, and a total must-see.

Closed now, but Opening SOON!…read more Because of both the renovation of the original church bldg. and also the expansion into the historic Astor House, Foothills Art Center has been closed for the better part of the past year. That will soon change when the original building becomes a Creative Campus for studios and the Astor House contains the galleries, a meeting room, reading center/library, refreshment kiosk and administrative offices. Targeted for March/April '24, both FAC buildings will be a major improvement and offer everything from classes and meetings to an increased outdoor patio and even a Short Edition dispenser for free English/Spanish phone-based stories, poetry and cartoons for both adults and kids to take with you!

She was expert, not just at glass, but also at teaching, and was great at working around my mobility limitations. My friend and I both decided to make glass bowls, and after these annealed over a 24-hour time frame, we ended up with lovely keepsakes. Expect to learn a lot in a very short time. The Experience is a little pricey, but worth it, especially considering the individual focus. Don't rush off--you'll want to explore the Gallery and pick up a few treasures (use your 7% discount the day of your Experience) and seek sale items. I fully expect to book another Experience!

In the chaos of my move from Denver to San Francisco last fall, I lost the hologram (a separate piece with adhesive) for my 2013 Telluride Bluegrass Festival poster. I emailed William Matthews Studio to see if I could buy that part alone, and they promptly replied and said they'd mail me a new one -- which they did, free of charge. I feel like stuff like this doesn't happen much anymore, so I just wanted to give them a happy Yelp shout-out -- THANK YOU!! -- and encourage people to give these lovely people some business. I definitely plan to check out their goods next time I'm back in Denver.
