I go here all the time and am not sure how I stumbled on these reviews but I am SHOCKED at how negative some of these are! I have been coming here since I was a child but now that I am a teenager, I absolutely love coming here and have brought so many friends that also have come to love it. Ive never had anything but positive interactions with any employees and the owner is the sweetest lady. I once picked up my piece and it looked a little lumpy and the paint had some specks on it, I called and they asked me to bring it back and then refired it with no fuss at all. After that it was perfect. They were very accommodating and I would suggest this place to anyone. read more

This is such a fun date idea! We did come about an hour and a half before close(our fault) so we felt a little rushed towards the end because we didn't want to keep the employees so we now know for next time. I'd love if they were open later than 4 pm though, even 7 on would make a huge difference. We had such a fun time and the employees were so sweet. Me and by friend were working on a painting for over and hour. When it was time to check they said we couldn't get it because it was apart of another item. When we found the item, it wasn't a part of anything it was by itself so we didn't know and then the worker proceeded to say I'm gonna wash it off and hopefully it doesn't stain in front of us. read more

First. These folks have an infinite amount of patience. They get nothing but praise. I had no idea what I was getting into with glass fusion. They answered lots of questions. Now most people may not panic when they have to design an item with glass pieces, I'm not most people. Their website was not super helpful in describing glass fusion, the process, or what they offer. All I know is that my friend suggested it and I was along for the crafty ride. As they are giving us the run down, I'm internally screaming. It seemed complicated at first. This is not a cheap project and I really didn't want to jack it up. A lot of the examples were not quite my style, so I really took a long time to get started. My friend jumped right in and made a beautiful piece! Once I got rolling, it was really fun. There was no pressure. I'd totally go back, better prepared. Maybe paint something, too. Sooooo, now we wait a week to pick up our pieces after they are fired. I'm excited to see them! read more

We experienced an issue painting our pots, when my child accidentally selected glass chips thinking they were sparkles. The manner in which we were corrected was done abruptly and a little loudly, embarrassing me and making my child cry. Why was this accessible to small children? Should be far away from the paint products with clear signage. Over all it was ok, but it was pretty expensive (most things were $35+). read more

I am not from Missouri and happened to be passing through when this Painted Pot hosted a Harry Potter-y night. I immediately booked and went and was pleasantly surprised how cute, fun and organized it was. I was enthusiastically (aaaand awkwardly) the only full-fledged adult in full costume...however, it made for some fun talk and pictures. My 4-year-old son was engaged with first the pizza and Butterbeer (and chocolate-dipped pretzel wands), then the visit from Harry Potter and Hermione who did a quick presentation/play along with the kids on Hogwarts and some fun wand swishing, then quickly to taking photos of the group and families in front of a little backdrop for all interested. After this was on to the painting! Naturally, my four year old lasted all of five minutes (that's generous) of following along, and the workers there were fully supportive of him making a grand Picasso of his cauldron. They made their rounds efficiently and the owner was so warm and nice, stopping at every table to give quick tips or chat with everyone. She knew her stuff and I was impressed by how smoothly she guided every different skill level in the room. I felt very welcomed and had a great two hours there. Can't wait to pick up my son's work next week. If I were staying in town I'd certainly make this a regular stop for an art night with my family every month and make friends with these ladies. read more

My love for painting pottery really started back in 2011 and ever since a group of friends and I have been trying to go all over. I think we found a favorite spot! Groupon had a deal for the Painted Pot and the 3 of us jumped on the chance to get together to paint. Not knowing what to expect, and having been to other places, we were amazed to see the awesome collection that this store offered. You can do painting, mosaics, you name it, this place offers it all. They have ample colors, ample space to work and lots of ideas swarming the walls that you're sure to figure out what you want to do. My sister and her daughter took my sister to the Painted Pot to celebrate her 65th birthday and we had a blast. It was fun to paint the pottery, the staff was very helpful and our pottery turned out great! There was no pressure, and advice was always supportive. All our pieces of pottery together cost about $75 so it was economical too. I'm going back soon just to paint something else. I was skeptical. I'm really not into a kind of kitchy look what I did sort of house decorating but I can hardly wait to hang my plate. I'm going back alone because I don't want the distraction of companions who are finished before me. So it's a good place to go for a party or for a more transcendental experience. Check it out. They also do birthday parties for kids. They actually have enough staff to juggle 10 excited 8 year olds and six or more other groups simultaneously. The atmosphere is not hurried but relaxing. Yes, you must wait a few days to get your work fired but it is well worth the wait. read more

I love this place! My daughters used it for their kids birthday parties. While I was there I found out they did fused glass and pottery wheel classes. My sisters and I started going just to hang out and got hooked. Now I take my grandkids. The staff has something for everyone and they are so knowledgeable about what they do. I had them hand paint a special popcorn bowl for my daughter for Christmas last year. A couple of months later, my daughter dropped the bowl and it broke. She was heartbroken. I called the store and asked them if they could make another bowl and have it ready to pick up on my daughter's birthday which was 8 days away. The employee set the phone down and was discussing the bowl and timeframe with the manager. She got back on the phone and told me they could do it, and for me to email over the photos of the bowl. After I got off the phone, I emailed them the photos and asked them to confirm they got my email. Two days later, I called the store because I hadn't heard back from them about receiving the photos. The person on the phone asked my email address and pulled up the email I sent them while on the phone. She told me the manager had started to respond to my email and that she forgot to finish her email, but it looked like they might not be able to make the bowl in time. She said she would reach out to the manager who wasn't there and have her call me right away. This was on a Saturday morning. I didn't hear anything until late Sunday night when the manager emailed me to say she would not be able to make the bowl. She offered to have it made for me to pick up more than a week later than I was needing it, telling me that due to kids being on spring break, she was busy. I expressed how upset I was that they basically wasted four days of my time when I could have found another place to make it, but now that her birthday is just 4 days away, it would be very difficult to have it made in time. I asked if they could take a little off the price since they have messed up my daughter's gift and now she wouldn't be getting it in time. She said no. Bad business, bad customer service. I will not be using them again. Instead, I would suggest people check out Pottery Hollow just down the street. read more

My husband and I would go here for each others birthdays or fun little dates with each other all the time. All the time before have been amazing until now. This last time we went was for my birthday and our God-daughter, who was 5 at the time came with. We each picked out something to paint. My husband- a gift for me Myself- a pet bowl for our dog And the little one- a shark bowl for her mom for a gift. So we are all just about finished painting when (I pray isn't the owner, for the way she treated us) one of the employees came by and looked at our pottery. She then pointed out that the shark bowl was a set and that we have to buy the set which was $50! This was a very small bowl but we asked if we could pay half since we are almost finished and there wasn't any indication that they were a set. She rudely said no and that when she checked yesterday the sets were all together.. I asked well isn't it possible that between yesterday and today someone moved them? She said no I said well it wasn't by the set and we would rather just buy the shark-mind you there's other customers painting as well and she isn't going about this politely Then she actually takes the shark bowl from my god daughters hands!! And goes to the sink to wash it off! I was shocked!! Little one was so upset and kept asking if she was washing it and it was awful What grown woman does that to a child?! I will never support/recommend this company to anyone and will always urge others to try a different business read more

I'm giving two stars because while I enjoyed the ceramic options and thought the packaged paints is a lot more practical than other places making you squirt paints on a plate- the atmosphere was totally ruined by what I observed to be a manger. I'm not sure of her name, she had a nose hoop and short black/dark brown bob. I came there to paint after an extremely stressful work day and just wanted to zone out and be a bit creative. The manager proceeded to gossip about another employee to another employee for a good 20mins. I could hear EVERY single word and gripe she had- I'll spare you the details.The entire ambience was ruined for me. I'm not one to leave a damaging review but it was incredibly unprofessional across all areas. The gossiping garbage didn't allow me to destress as I intended. The owner and staff were VERY rude. Told us we had time to paint when we walked in an hour before close but changed their minds after a half hour when we already started painting. It was my birthday by the way which they knew about. The woman said we could come back later to finish so we paid over $130 worth of stuff and left to come back on another day. But when we tried to come back later, she refused to let us finish our work and wouldn't refund us either! Terrible place of business. read more

LOOOOOOOOVE this place!!!!! They don't just offer pottery- they offer mosaics & glass fusing as well. And, last time I was in they were talking about offering painting classes as well. I've been to a couple margarita nights & had a blast. What's margarita night? Let me tell you. It's a girls night out full if crafting- for $10 they supply the margaritas & the snacks. Not interested in margaritas? You can also byob- & that's anytime. Not just margarita night. They also offer classes for both adults & children several times a month or you can stop in any time & get your craft on. The staff is amazing & so so friendly. Best place every! My friend KT and I went there last Christmas to make gifts for family members. We had so much fun, we went back in February to make something for ourselves. I'm an artist and currently going to school for art, so this was especially fun for me. The workers are very knowledgeable and helpful. What a treat! I came to The Painted Pot for project ideas and help with creating some auction items for our school's PTO. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They gave me a ton of ideas and sent me with a kit to make the project in the classroom with my students. The final pieces were finished in time, even though I contacted them somewhat last minute. I visited the shop three times through the duration of the project: initial purchase, drop-off for finishing, and final pick-up. Every visit I was met with friendly and helpful staff.
