We understood from the pictures on the Boca Grande website that this was going to be a very nice house on the gulf. It was not. The house was not clean with hairs on counters, microwave/fridge had not been cleaned, the furniture had nasty stains, and there are multiple fall hazards with raised wood, nails, and skid strip, along with stained and falling ceiling in several rooms. We had to clean the surfaces we would use even though we paid a $179 "make ready fee". That's $463/night which we could have spent in a luxury hotel! When we dropped off the keys, the front office person said we should have contacted them when we got to the unit. She said they could have sent out the cleaning people out, but would not have been able to do anything about the falling ceiling and other issues as this is an owner will not make repairs. She was nice and it sounded like they have asked the owner to make repairs before. She brought out a manager and we asked him for half of the rental fee back and started telling him about the problems. He said no to a partial refund. We requested they go out and take a look and not rent the house again until repairs are made. He said they are fully aware of the state of the house and the owner will not make repairs. He acted like this was just a problem for the owner, but this is a problem for a real estate company renting properties as well. We advised him we secure vacation rentals through real estate companies as they have always made sure the rentals were clean and in good repair. We told him we would be filing complaints if they wouldn't do anything and he said do what you gotta do. He really couldn't have cared less, but maybe this review will prevent others from having this bad experience.

I spent a great deal of time on their website trying to identify potential rental properties for our family vacation. I needed something that would accommodate 8 people. I plugged in the dates we expected to be in town - midweek through midweek in August - and found several properties that I was interested in, but had a clear favorite - 261 Seabreeze Ct. I noticed a statement that read "Saturday check-in is required for online bookings. Please call the office at 941-964-0338 Main Office for other dates." I took that to mean perhaps they would consider something other than a Saturday check-in and called the office. The first person I spoke to said the house I was asking about was only Sat-Sat, that a midweek rental was not possible at this point in the season. I was disappointed but thanked her for her help. I spent several more hours going through other listings, looking at various options, but always coming back to needing a house versus two condos for our large group. So I called back to inquire about two other houses that might work for our group. I was told, again, that only Sat to Sat rentals were available. So then I asked if she knew of any houses available that would accommodate our large group and that would permit a midweek to midweek rental. I was placed on hold and unknowingly transferred to the Manager. I didn't get his name, but from the moment he picked up the phone he was rude, unpleasant, and condescending. He said "I don't know how many different ways we have to say this to you, but we only have Saturday to Saturday rentals." I told him their website said to call the office for other dates, and so I was merely asking if there was anything available. Again, he was condescending and stated that he'd already answered that question, as had the other two ladies I'd spoken to, yet I seemed unwilling to accept their answers. I was offended, but kept my calm and told him I didn't appreciate his tone, that I was merely inquiring about a property and whether there were ANY options for a midweek rental, and he didn't need to be rude as I was not being rude to them. He didn't apologize but rather persisted with his attitude and acted as though I was wasting his time. We have owned two properties for which we've used property managers over the years. One at a sought-after beach resort and the other in a more traditional residential neighborhood. I would have fired our property manager if I ever discovered that their business practice was to be rude and insulting to someone asking about our property. We always directed our PMs to contact us with any reasonable offer so we could evaluate and make a decision, and would never have tolerated such insolence and rudeness. I'm sure there are a lot of lovely properties available in Boca Grande, and many managed by Boca Grande Real Estate, but out of principle, I refuse to do business with a company that clearly has no respect for the customer service industry they are in. We will find another property to rent, and I hope Boca Grande Real Estate clients know they're not being served well and are losing perspective business thanks to their choice in property managers. Perhaps this review will make them think twice about how they talk to people, but I doubt that's very likely.

We didn't do a tour, though we did see the tour going on and it seemed very nice and informative. SUP Englewood is run by a really nice couple who is super accommodating and very warm and friendly. They gave us a run down of the area and recommendations on where to take our kayak. Almost immediately upon launching -- dolphins! So close to us. Such a beautiful sight to see. We had lots of close encounters with dolphins during our 4 hour rental. It was amazing. The area is beautiful to explore via kayak, and after our kayak tour we went to the beach across the street from the launch site which is a very beautiful beach. We drove around the area and loved it. Everything with SUP Englewood ran so smoothly and pleasantly. Highly recommend it!

Because they have excellent reviews on Google, I decided to contact them in advance to schedule a pick-up from where we were staying in Bradenton Beach to Sarasota Airport for our trip back home. I received a message right away with the price quote and the info was updated right on my iPhone calendar once I accepted. On the day before the scheduled pick up, I called and sent a text message to Vintage to confirm our pick-up, and received confirmation that our pick-up was scheduled for the following day. On the day of the pick-up, our driver, Amber arrived right on time for pick-up. She was one of the nicest drivers that we've had the pleasure of using.
