The Palms was the best restaurant we had during our week in Saint Martin. The kitchen is small so you might wait when the place is packed, but the food is worth every minute. Their ribs were the best we tried on the island. The oxtail was the best we tried on the island. I fell in love with the curry goat roti. It tasted like it came straight from Trinidad. I wiped my plate clean and wished I had taken a picture. I ordered the drink special and swapped the tequila for rum. Diane, the bartender, made it sweet and smooth with coconut cream. It was so good I am naming it the Ashley. If you like coconut and sweet drinks, you will enjoy it. Our waitress Joe and Connor took great care of us. The service matched the food. The ribs were so tender the bone slid right out. My boyfriend and I split them as an appetizer and cleaned the bones. The cheesecake was also delicious. Every single thing we ate here was amazing. I would recommend this place. We are coming back. I want the curry shrimp next time and my boyfriend plans to get the curry goat again. read more

I had a great time here. The service is great. It's all inclusive for those staying in the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, Casino, & Spa. The food was delicious and they offered an experience of you being able to cook your own meal, which the stone is very hot. But the chicken was seasoned well. They have other meat options as well. The Coleslaw salad was good. Not too many raisins in it, so it's not overpowering. I picked them out. I enjoyed the view of Maho Beach and the food. I would definitely eat here again. read more

For the carrot cake, it's 10/10 BUT the price is too high for 1 piece! Had the jerk chicken wrap and it was ok, wouldn't get again. Hubbie had the ribs and that's what I would get next time, BUT price is pretty steep for 1/2 rack, $35. Shrimp cocktail for appetizers was ok, wouldn't get again. I've been coming to Saint Martin for 25 years. I stay here often. I have a place nearby. This is my only hang out. If you don't order what I order I might understand that you wouldn't like it as much as me. Let me be clear: I get shrimp curry w/ roti (a flat bread), Side salad and rice and beans. That's it! Sometimes 4 days in a row. Choose your spice level. I choose medium plus. But know that "Trinidadian hot" is way different from Mexican or American hot. Trinidadian hot is : YiKeS!!! Horeeesheet! Gregarious Greg and Sultry Jo (the owners) are sweet people and excellent hosts . (As is child advocate and waiter Romain.) This is one of the few places on the island that isn't on "island time" and actually offers service. They are friendly and will make sure you leave with a smile on your face. It's not a tiki place but it's what the hip tiki places in 60's Americana we're trying to be. This is a hut! A shack! The REAL deal. Not a chain. I wish they played Martin Denny and other Tiki or Trinidadian calypso type music. But as it is now the music is not offensive. It's never the thump thump thump heard at many other places on this island. Tell 'em "Mancow sent me!" And tell them " You always give Mancow a free shot of Fireball what about me?!!!" Such a great experience! My first visit to the island and my first restraint. Romaine (sp?) was an amazing server! He was super knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He exuded compassion when discussing the menu. I went with the calamari and the drunken ribs. What a treat! They fell off the bone and the sauce was fantastic. I ordered a side sauce and should have asked for it to be warmed up because with the french fries...chefs kiss! Definitely come here if you visit. The bartender makes fresh juice for the drinks so today was kiwi. I tried a kiwi margarita and caprihinia which was really good. read more

Uncomfortably hot but we had fun! The drinks were tasty but it took forever to get them. We weren't in a rush but we were hot and thirsty! The menu is kind of limited but we enjoyed the curry dish, shrimp, filet mignon and snapper. Decent portions and good quality. Service was slow - again, we weren't in a rush but we were there for almost two hours. Took forever to get the check. The staff seemed disorganized or maybe understaffed? Jo and Greg play host to our favorite restaurant in all of Sint Maarten. We actually travel all the way to this island JUST to dine with them. They are lovely and their food is stellar. Mild Shrimp Curry is my dish with an extra helping of roti (best on Earth) on the side. I wash it all down with a Coconut Mojito. Can you handle spicy? Ask Greg for some of his families Trinidadian hot sauce! If you can handle that you are a better man than me Gunga Din! There's American hot and then there's that! Yowza! Family of four had a fantastic evening at the Palms! On the chaotic main drag, Airport Rd, we were fortunate to get a table indoors (folks outside seemed to have a great time, too). Lots of lights and action inside, which is small and everyone got to know each other at adjacent tables. The Drunken Ribs were the best ribs we'd ever had; a full slab provided 14 ribs to share. We paired that with chicken curry which was also delicious -- medium hot was not very spicy, just very flavorful. We got it with soft "roti" bread (like a thin tortilla) to grab the pieces of chicken and mop up the sauce. Great cocktails before, during and after our meal kept us all feeling great and singing along with the entertainer, whose name I didn't catch. He had a great act, accompanied by a karaoke-style track. Sometimes he shared the mic. I hope the people outside enjoyed the fun as much as we did inside. The staff kept track of us with food and beverages and a great vibe of friendliness all around. Many of our fellow diners said this was their favorite place and came back every visit to St Maarten. We can see why! In addition to the ribs and chicken curry, we recommend the fresh passionfruit Caipirinha cocktail, espresso martinis, and homemade carrot cake (NOT typical crunchy type, so much better). read more

The ribs are AWESOME!!! Probably one of the best ribs that I ever had, if you can eat meat, get it! As it shows in the pictures you got few options to choose from for the side, around $30 well enough for one person, maybe even for two. Very friendly people, the owner and some of the employees are from Canada. The only downside this place got is cash only. Good Caribbean food on st Maarten(Located along sImpson bay). Decided to come here after good reviews on trip advisor. Everyone was super friendly. Got the local st Martin beer which was pretty good. For food, we got the Accra for starters which is basically fried cod fritters. Tasted Aok, the pairing with the mango chutney was not great. Got the shrimp curry and jerk chicken wrap for entrees. Loved the curry although the chicken wrap wasn't what I was expecting. Good portion sizes. Overall good experience. Cash only. Also got to listen to dj madcap while we were there. read more

Found this place walking down the street in Simpson Bay. You can't find a friendlier staff anywhere! They had indoor & outdoor dining but it was starting to drizzle, so we opted for indoor. There were many friendly locals dining there, (always a good sign.). We were enticed by the chalkboard sign with a sirloin burger special: but after reading the reviews I decided to switch to the " drunken ribs." (I don't think I've had ribs for like 3-4 years.....and boy were they good! Big St.Louis style ribs that were marinated in a delicious sauce: and literally fell off the bone!). My husband had the shrimp curry....also a big portion & he liked spicy; so he just ordered it as it came, and it was plenty hot for him! One of the best things was the beer bucket specials! They had buckets of Caribe and Coors Light for $15. (And at The Palms you get SIX beers in a bucket, not FIVE beers like you get in the U.S.). The only reason they lost a star was that they were cash only , (fine for us, but, could be inconvenient for some,) & the bathrooms were a little more primitive than I like.) read more

Decided to try this place on our final night on the island, and it was incredible! Super small, inviting atmosphere with attentive, friendly staff. We struck up a conversation with the owner and his wife, which continued throughout the evening as we ate. They fly in meat from the United States, and cook with all fresh ingredients, which means everything was super fresh and flavorful! We ordered some drinks (the special passionfruit cocktail is excellent!) and had the ribs, garlic shrimp, and sirloin. All were excellent, cooked and flavored to perfection. We ended with the dessert, trying the brownie and the carrot cake. Also super delicious! It was an awesome evening and we'd highly recommend it to anyone in the area! read more
