This place earns five stars from me! My husband and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary and wanted a waterfront restaurant, and this was the perfect choice with its beautiful views overlooking the marina. We made reservations before we arrived, although they really weren't necessary--but how were we to know? We were seated at a lovely table overlooking the marina, and once the sun went down, the twinkling lights reflecting on the water created a beautiful atmosphere. There was also a wonderful breeze, which was such a pleasant surprise for July. We expected it to be much hotter! I ordered the surf and turf with my choice of three different steaks and selected the ribeye with a half lobster tail. The ribeye was enormous, cooked perfectly, and seasoned so well that every bite was bursting with flavor. The lobster tail was tender and delicious. The portion was so generous that I ended up sharing my steak with my husband! The rice and peas were so good that he kept scooping them onto his plate--and he's definitely not a rice-and-peas kind of guy! He's usually a mashed potato guy...as you can tell from his own plate! It was hands down some of the best I've had in a very long time. The crispy tostones were the perfect compliment . He ordered the Grouper topped with lobster sauce, and really enjoyed it. His side choice was mashed potatoes and vegetables. I had a bite and concur the group. It was very moist and the sauce. It was just delicious. I had peaked at the menu prior to arriving and that's what I had every intention of ordering but then when I saw the surf and turf I was like, hey why not let's celebrate at $66 I didn't think it was much of an issue As a really nice surprise and great gesture, a molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and fresh whipped cream was delivered to us with happy anniversary wishes on the house. We've been visiting the island for over 25 years, often several times a year, and somehow this was our first visit to this restaurant. It definitely won't be our last. Highly recommended! read more

We got here before 6pm and got part of our order of 4 at 8:44 pm and it was not packed. It was a long time to even to take our order. No reservations required. The appetizers took an hour to come out and I have no idea what the cooks were doing. The food was cold and spoke to the chef and all he did was take off for the cheapest meal and which was cold also. If I could give a no star I would. Food was cold and tough. I spoke with the head chef Carlos not really wanting to appease to our experience. We didn't even get an apology for the long wait. This is my family's first and last time going there. Especially being on vacation. I highly doubt not recommend this place at all and it's highly disappointing due to the location of the place that set the ambiance off from what could've been a memorable moment. read more

Steal of a deal on the lobster thermidor! Just a great spot on the bay in what I'd call a shopping plaza surrounded by other eateries. On the other side of the road from Cupe Coy (if you're not into bathing au naturale, beware!), this towards the rear of the complex towards the boat docks. The staff was laidback, friendly, and gregarious. When asked for a recommendation, our server was knowledgeable and perceptive. The apps were excellent. There was a decadent dip and plantain cups with different meats in them. Very good, great value. The mains (so, meo culpa here, I forgot what The Scientist had, I was busy with item number one, supra) are hearty portions priced well below other spots on the island. Never having had lobster thermidor before, it had to happen. It was spiny lobster, which was appreciated. The more firm/dense meat, along with the less sweet (neutral) flavor of the spiny lobster lent itself to the cream and shallots I tasted. If you're going for decadent without a hefty price tag, this is your spot. read more

Great location while staying at Porto Cupecoy Marina! Great marina side dining. Everything is made fresh to order. We had stopped by the day before asking about fresh seafood and Chef Carlos said stop by Tuesday . I asked if he had fresh warm water lobsters and he said yes. He said he could cook it any style even Lobster Thermidor . I was excited. I had had lobster Thermidor for the first time in Massachusetts at the Black Whale, amazing! We came back the next night to Big Cee's and because it is "slow season" we had the place to ourselves. We sat inside but overlooking the Marina. She got snapper dinner and I got the Thermidor. When server brought it he apologized saying they only had large ones! While eating dinner the local coast guard came through checking things out! The other night, my wife, two friends who have been coming to SXM for over forty years, and I went to Big C's for dinner. Bottom line, it was the best food and experience we had in the nine days we were there. We made a reservation for 6 PM and the restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived. We were greeted and cared for by Manuel (aka "Mano" and "Manu", which is what his young daughter calls him). Manu was professional, fun, knowledgeable and took great care of us. We ordered drinks and appetizers to share (stuffed patacones and conch fritters) and then seared tuna steak, sautéed grouper fillet, and coconut shrimp for dinner. Everything was fresh and delicious. The ambience was also very enjoyable. Relaxed and right on the waterfront on Simpson Bay Lagoon, with plenty of off-street parking. Highly recommend Big C's. Make reservations or arrive before 6 PM, because the place is fairly small and fills up quickly. We'll definitely go back the next time we're in SXM. read more

Service by JP was perfect, professional and well timed. We were well cared for and he had great suggestions and a wonderful smile. All of the other workers were also gracious and friendly. We got to meet Big Cee himself! The setting is gorgeous! Waterfront, clean and just beautiful. Loved the tv showing undersea videos as if on a dive. Food was incredible. Super fresh and delicious. We really wanted a great dinner spot with a view and we were thrilled to discover Big Cee's. Carlos was our wonderful server. He was patient with our questions and makes a mean martini as well. Everything was delicious! My husband and I split a Caesar salad and I had filet mignon. It came with garlic mashed potatoes and veggies. My husband had the fish and chips and he was happy too. Ambience, location, service, and food are all top tier. Overlooking the lagoon. All the wait staff and Big C are friendly and prompt. My favorite dishes are the pasta w/garlic-olive oil sauce and I add shrimp as my protein. I also love the Caesar salad add chicken. The Gouda bites are amazing. Hidden down the steps in the Porto Cupecoy plaza. We sat at the tiki bar called Steve'z where you can order from any of the plaza's restaurants. We went with Big Cee's. They have a lot of classics on the menu but the menu does seem a little over. There were nachos, coconut shrimp, fish and chips, among many other items. The coconut shrimp wasn't bad and served with a chutney. Nice crispy to the shrimp. The fish and chips was nicely done as well. The batter was crispy and fries were served piping hot.
