One day it's a dream others it's like I feel I am a burden or in the way. Asking a customer if they're ready to order when asked 30 seconds prior by another staff member is pretty stand offish and not appreciated. We were there for barely an hour and felt that we were being hurried and not welcomed which is a shame. I was interrupted more often than not asking if I was finished I think 3 or 4 times during the duration. Don't spoil my experience leave me to chat to my friend in peace and perhaps interject once or twice at most if needed. As I said love this joint and come at least fortnightly if I can but please can you make me feel a little more welcomed and less of a burden next time? We weren't asking for anything extra we weren't hassling waitresses every 5 minutes we ordered our food and drink and pretty much kept to ourself. To bring a mate to what I think is a pretty good venue to have so so service is a little embarrassing but it will not put me off returning again as long as the above is acted upon. Wasn't all of the staffers I have one regular who is a joy but please drop the attitude when none is required. If I was being rude or pushy I'd understand but I wasn't and don't appreciate being treated so. Have come here since it opened and keep giving it chances and it annoys me as I love the food and the venue itself Please take this as constructive feedback and I hope that it will be taken on board

Milkshakes and Poke, only in Melbourne!…read more I made sure I dropped by Naughty Boy during my trip down under, and boy was it naughty (and SO worth it!!) Tried the Berry Cheesecake Instashake, and their Poke Bowl. The shake kinda scared me at first sight, and I wasn't sure I would be able to finish it, but it was love at first sip! The cheesecake on top was light but delicious. The poke was visually appealing but a little too salty for my taste. The shake evened it out though. Ambience: very minimalistic and millennial Location: easily accessible by public transportation (which I took). Didn't see much parking though. Customer Service: Delightful.

Naughty Boy, doesn't it sounds like a convincing place to have your breakfast?…read more Located on the quiet end of Lygon Street, away from the more bustling cafe scenes of Melbourne CBD, you will find humble nook that shook Instagram feed. The interior inside the cafe is rather spacious but felt a little more budget, industrial and rustic thanks to the major applications of " ripped" wall and exposed bricks. Their menu is quite impressive, listing typical big Australian brunch menu (e.g: brekkie roll, fancy toast and hotcakes) as well as their "not-so naughty" menu (e.g: oatmeals, acai bowl, etc.). No matter what you ordered here, you can always count on the pretty presentation! For my first visit, I ordered: * Pavlova Instashake: They have about 3 "Freakshakes" flavors to choose from (the other two options are Chocolate Nutella fudge and Salted Caramel). The presentation was just as naughty as I had hoped - kiwis, berries, meringue and fairy floss on top of coconut and almond milk. Taste-wise, I was expecting it to be a jar load of sugar, basically a diabetes in a jar... as an art form, but it actually was very subtle and tasted healthy! I was almost disappointed that it doesn't taste as sweet as it looks, lol. * Red Velvet hotcakes: The presentation was orgasmic to the eye; brightly red color, decorated with vanilla mascarpone, berries and sprinkle with popping candy. Almost crazy, but yet still delicious, with the hot cake being mildly sweet and fluffy and the popping candy adds an interesting sensation with each bite. I must say, Naughty boy is as naughty as the name suggest. The food is utterly gorgeous and whimsical. The prices were a little steep with the Instashake costing $12 and the hotcakes $18 but I guess it was worth every dime just to be on the naughty side... once in a while :)

Being an invite, my friend had a nice introductory chat with the owner first (I just listened on since, again, I was the +1), so we got a feel for what his background was for the cafe, and the mindset and direction he wanted to take it. I was struck by his genuine nature in wanting people to have a nice, quality experience, above all, but also that he communicates with other cafes to try not to offer the same things in order to make it as unique as possible for the customer. We ordered the Scotch Pancakes, Nanban Chicken and the King Truffle. The first thing I tried was the King Truffle, and it was beyond flavorful and well-cooked. The mushrooms were not overdone and were perfectly seasoned, as we even discussed that it was just on the edge of being "too salty," but the ingredients married well together to make that saltiness just right, while the presentation was spot on. The Nanban Chicken was equally well-done, with the chicken being moist and well-seasoned, while the black rice added a nice texture and the chili gave a nice pop to the sweetness. The presentation was fabulous as well. With the Scotch Pancakes, here is where we were a tad disappointed, and especially in being told this dish was a huge favorite. While the presentation delivered perfectly, unfortunately, the execution left us wanting more. We agreed that it wasn't a complete failure, as it still was pleasant enough, but the pancakes were found to be dry and lacking flavor. I would have loved if the syrup/sauce was able to soak up into the pancake, but perhaps it was the thickness of the pancake or the slight over cooked surface; however, we felt we were biting into dry dough and there wasn't enough on top to add the flavor we needed to get through it. The mascarpone on top was flavorful and definitely helped to add what was missing, but it was still lacking, and perhaps even adding more berries could do this dish justice. Nonetheless, I am quick to say that perhaps this dish simply had an "off moment," as you don't become a fan favorite and remain as one of the few items to go unchanged from the cafe's inception without good reviews. I would definitely try this again for a second chance, however, the first two dishes made up for where this one lacked, and given that, again, I think this was simply an off moment. Can't be perfect all the time, after all!! If you are looking for a great brunch stop, I would definitely recommend this place, and do try the pancakes even, as we might have simply missed out this day. This rating should read more as 4.5 than simply a 4. Well done, overall.

My daughter had been telling me about the steak and eggs since she landed a month ago and promised me she would take me as soon as I arrived. It's all I could think about to get me through the terrible airplane food. Worth every uncomfortable minute of poor sleep and food deprivation. The flavors are impossible to describe in these dishes but are absolute perfection. She got the eggs Benedict which is placed on a base of yuzu instead of the traditional muffin. We scraped the sauce up using the lotus root and lettuce until nothing was left. The steak was tender and flavorful with a mushroom gravy that wasn't too heavy but perfect for dipping the fries and eggs into. It's all I think about now, day in and day out until I can go back and eat it again. It haunts my every waking minute. I don't know what I'll do when I have to fly home and can't get it back in the states. If you find yourself anywhere near Melbourne...or Australia...make the trek to Humble Rays in Carlton. It's worth it. Everything on the menu looked amazing. The banana matcha cloud and Orange espresso are both unique and unexpected plays on the traditional drinks that will change your mind about all sorts of flavors. The service and ambience also win! We were lucky and got there right before the line stacked up down the block. It is recommended you make a reservation even for brunch. That line was looooong. But worth it!

The Thai iced tea was also FABULOUS. Great service and free wifi. Absolutely a top notch spot.
