It was a boutique book at a boutique bookstore, so I expected to pay a little more and was happy to support a local store that provides such a valuable resource for children. As it turns out, I checked the price on Amazon while writing this review, and it was about the same! This is an amazing local resource that encourages children's curiosity while helping keep the town unique and charming. I'm so glad I discovered it and will definitely be back.

I always find multiple books to buy: $2 for paperbacks, $3 for hard cover--can't beat that! After my honey and I have read a book, we donate them back to the Book Barn--saves piling up and they can give the additional money to local charities when these books are sold again! Prices are incredibly reasonable, and if you wander all the way to the back, you'll discover a clothing shop and a room full of housewares. I found shelves of delicate china and vintage dinnerware at prices that made me do a double take. My only real complaint is that Saturday mornings are busy. Because everything is donated, this isn't the place to hunt for the newest bestseller. It's where you come for the experience, the possibility of stumbling across something unexpected, and the thrill of finding a great deal on a forgotten gem. But I went primarily for used vinyl (which I'm a collector). Their used vinyl is relatively expensive and is not competitive with NYC stores. But since I won't take a trek to NYC due the Communist status and they don't arrest criminals. This store definitely has the 'Montclair" ambiance, "extreme arrogance". I loathe the city, 50 x at this store not a "peep" from any employee.

My daughter called me recently and told me about Ray & Judy's Book Stop and wanted to meet me there...how could a Dad say no? I found a parking spot about a block away (there is only local parking, though there's a small Quick Chek across the street) and made my way over to the store. As of this writing, the owner still asks that anyone coming into the store wear a mask (he's an older guy so just do as he asks...if you don't want to mask up just go somewhere else). This small bookstore is laid out pretty well and they have a great collection of books. They have a pretty large selection of science fiction and westerns (my guilty pleasures), but really a nice collection of everything. These days so many people use electronic readers, but still have a love of having an actual book in my hand. I walked away from the store with a few nice purchases and my daughter had a full bag. Owner was a really nice guy, prices are good, it's well organized and they have a nice selection...for someone like me that's all I can ask so I'll be back.

Generally good Barnes & Noble location…read more If you know Barnes & Noble, you already know what they carry and their general layout. This store is pretty big and mostly everything was maintained. I intentionally went for the physical media (movies), but unfortunately there isn't as much as you might expect or want in that regard. I found two things I was looking for, but the overall selection was small. Any staff I encountered were friendly. This location shares the land with several other businesses, but has its own area for parking. Good location, but one I'd probably not return to unless I need to.

David to Amazon's Goliath. (I guess?!) Sadly there's no small/local bookstores in my town so I have to make the hike to this location (which I'm more fond of than their much-closer location in Clifton). You probably know the scoop... lots of books (duh!), lots of toys and (board) games, a vinyl record section (!), a café, and on my most recent visits... super cool down-to-earth workers eager to help without a chip on their shoulder (which I've encountered from time to time at that OTHER location). I'm not trying to pontificate (too much) but I recently saw a study that "reading for pleasure" is down by 40% and collectively our IQ scores are starting to go down (the first time in decades) so you owe it to yourself (and the future of our species!) to get yourself a (good) book and exercise that brain of yours.
