Switched to this place on a friends recommendation. My son and I both came in to get hair cuts, all good considering they have limited hours. (I would argue banker hours - not business hours for people who work.) We both received arguably good haircuts, but here is where it turns to crap. I book our next appointment for 5 weeks later. TWO DAYS before our appointment they call me to reschedule my appointment at their convenience because the owner decided he wanted to go cut hair at some car show. Who the hell runs a business like this?? Now my son and I have overgrown short haircuts that look like crap and I have to try to find a new place to fit us in because this guy put his own personal fun and advertising ahead of his already more than he can handle client base. read more

I walked to the 1st st location given on yelp only to find out they had relocated and not updated their info. Edit: They only moved to a different building less than a block away, I walked over and got my haircut. Cool atmosphere, friendly people and they do a great job, would recommend to anyone. read more

I had a scheduled appointment for 8am. There was no one inside the barber and the lights were off. I waited for 5 minutes in case anyone was in the process of opening. I checked online to see what time they open, and it was posted for 9am. I thought there might have been a mistake with the appointment, so I decided to come back at 830am after doing some quick grocery shopping. The doors were open and the barber, just him, was already with someone. He asked if I had an appointment and I told him that I did. He replied that there's nothing he can do and could only reschedule. So because the barber was late to the appointment I get a reschedule? He couldn't arrive a few minutes early before 8am? Very bad customer service and he couldn't fit me in since I was on the book. Having appointment only yields bad business. read more

Appointment only but worth it! Every other week I come in and get a very consistent haircut. A wide selection of pomade and beard oils ect. I look forward to my appointment every time! Not to mention a made in the USA clothing and Boots as well as bags. Shops like these are a lost art in a world of quick and cheap haircuts on every corner. If scenery is your main purpose for going to a barbershop; well, that's the only reason I gave The Parlour two stars--decent atmosphere. And I can't rightly blame the fact that the lady (Elena) cutting my hair couldn't shape a simple faux hawk (after 5 sessions) on the other folks working there. However this review is inspired by the fact that she actually refused to fix the corners (due to lack of proper shaping) because I'd already left the shop before I noticed. Would likely have taken 10 minutes, and I suggested we wait for her next opening. Truth is, if I have to come back just to get my cut fixed, the barber has already made a big mistake: they've wasted my time. But things get even worse when you aren't even invited back after offering to pay. I suggested maybe a slight discount on my next cut, but she outright refused. Even went so far as to recommend I get someone else to cut it instead without so much as providing a referral. Mind you, I was never rude, and remained polite throughout. I addressed her directly to avoid any potential embarrassment or workplace discomfort. I guess I've learned a few valuable lessons: *Never leave the chair until you're completely satisfied *Inspect the work carefully. Always bring a friend if necessary *Don't tip until the next cut, because the cut may not look right once you really start styling it within the comfort of your own home While The Parlour MIGHT be okay for most haircuts, some barbers are best avoided. The cheap, big chain mentality and greed are too short-sighted to cut my hair. And I could get my dome screwed up for a lot less cash. Buyer beware. read more

I have finally found a barber!! I have been downtown countless times and never knew this place even existed! What an absolute GEM! Very professional staff that made me feel very welcomed. I had my Haircut and beard trimmed by who I presumed was the owner Tony. He was very professional, very friendly, and as I had hoped he is an incredible barber. I was hoping that he would be able to help guide me in deciding what hairstyle would fit me and he did exactly that. I was also very surprised how meticulous he was given it only took him about 20 minutes to complete my cut. I will absolutely be making this my home barber and highly recommend them. read more

Tony is so good with a razor he could put a hard part on a horse's ass without getting kicked. This place is legit! You need a beer, they'll give you a beer. You need some whiskey, they'll give you a shot. If you need manly hair products, they've got those too. They ain't got no booze at Dukes and Lords so go see Tony and Sara! read more

Use to really like this place, however after going for a while they started double booking and not caring at all. The fade was not great could still see lines of demarcation. They would let people jump infront of you even if they were already 15/20 mins behind. Very unprofessional also the person booking appointments needs training. read more

I rolled into The Parlour based off its Yelp reviews. Being from out of town, finding a good barber is always a crapshoot. The ambience that this plays has makes you feel as if you're just chilling at home. Not to mention, they compliment you with a free brew while you're waiting. Prices are great, the service is fantastic, and my hair cut came out better than I had expected. I had to stop in to check this place out. When checking out Downtown Rockford with my father in law, he wanted to stop in to The Parlour to make a hair appointment, and of course just to chat with the owners because they're basically friends at this point. This place is literally appointment only, and when you see the work this place does, you'll know why. They're booked easy a week or two out at any time. It's run by a couple--the wife runs the front desk and the husband is the barber. She is wonderfully hip and chatty and he is cool and professional; they're such a dynamic duo. He does this top notch job of hair cuts and beard trims--like, the ideal hipster lumberjack trim, it's picture perfect. My father in law is still fairly young but has perfect white hair, so this place sets him up with undoubtedly the best hair styles for his type of hair: a little long in the front with fades up the sides, trim up his beard to the perfect length; he looks incredible. They also have a selection of hair and beard tonics that work wonders for softening beards, giving hair that soft look, and keeping everything in perfect place. Whenever my husband ends up cutting off his luxurious, long, Robert Daltry-style golden curls, I might suggest he wait until we visit his father again so this guy can do his do.
