It was a nice day so we ate outside in a garden setting. I had the Clubhouse with home fries. The sandwich was exceptional. It had real chicken! The tomatoes were nice and ripe and tasty. And yes, you could find the bacon as people sometimes skimp on this. Yummy. The home fries was really fried potatoes medallions. This was greasy so had to use napkins to remove the excess grease. The others ordered the Peameal Bacon on a bun and the Mushroom omelet. I didn't try but they thoroughly enjoyed their meals also. This had a family run feel to the restaurant. It was a pleasant break to the walking. I would return.

The woman who took the order (probably one of the owners) was very friendly and a wonderful host. She brought us the sandwich, cut in half, on separate plates - honestly felt like being in my aunt's house. The sandwich was delicious and just hit the spot! Lots of flavors to choose from: Interesting ones like Moose Tracks, Tiger, Wolf's Paws, Bear Claw, Banana Boat and Heavenly Hash. After sampling, I went with the ever popular Bordeaux Cherry. It was creamy, full of flavor and packed with delicious cherries. Cannot forget to mention the small town feel and the warm hospitality of the staff, who happens to be the daughter of the owners. Marina was ever so helpful in guiding me through my choices and also filling me in on the area. A great pit stop during the warm months (they close for the season in November) on your way up north.

They had friendly staff and a variety of different ice cream flavours. Their regular 1 scoop ($4) cone was huge and you have the option of getting it in a cup. I got the butter pecan and it was delicious! Their seating is only outdoor and minimal (only 3 picnic tables) located at the entrance of the establishment. I would totally recommend if you're near by the area!

It's the perfect little hut, situated just outside of Bala town, with its own dock and excellent views of Bala Bay. Unfortunately, none of these ice cream places ever seemed to be open in the middle of the summer at the height of cottage season. Until The Scoop. Purchased last year by a local college student and her brother, the hut received an adorable Canadian facelift -- red, white and brown paint -- revamped signage and a new life. The siblings take turns working each evening, greeting customers and proudly scooping delicious, Ontario-based Kawartha brand ice cream. A tiny Swedish berry in lieu of a cherry on your scoop is their quaint signature. We're *so* glad they've set up shop in Bala and wish them the best of luck for continuing success; cuz nothing beats grilling your dinner al fresco followed by a boat ride to town for frozen dessert.

It has been popular among locals since they opened in 2008. The prices are quite reasonable at $3 for 1 scoop and $4 for 2 scoops. Even banana splits are only $5. All prices include taxes! We had a 2-scoop cone: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Pralines & Cream. Both scoops were creamy and tasty. My son really loved them but I did manage to get a little bit of both flavours. There is some savoury food served too like hot dogs, fries, poutine, and coffees. It is owned by a husband and wife team: George and Irene. Both are very pleasant people. They love having fun signs such as: "adults must be accompanied by children" and "children left unattended in this store will be sold to the circus". You can only pay by cash or e-transfer. There is no phone number because I can see they are extremely busy. You can still contact them via social media. There are picnic tables outside. During pandemic times, all staff and customers wear face masks and there is plexiglass used. Only one family is allowed in the small order area at a time. Just outside the entrance, you can be entertained by a famous saxaphone player, Orlando (a Cuban), during nice the afternoons. Today (2021-09-05), we were lucky to also have a guest keyboardist also from Cuba. There is no free WiFi. It is wheelchair  accessible. You can use a washroom by request. This ice cream shop actually is pretty cool…read more Besides ice cream, they also sell various knick knacks like trading cards, socks, jewellery, candles & more. It's really a mish mash of stuff. The ice cream sold here is Kawartha Dairy, so that bit is pretty standard. But the servings are pretty big & a single is only $3 and a double $4, including tax. So it's cheaper than going to a Kawartha outlet They only accept cash & etransfer. The guy is pretty friendly, though there were some ice crystals in the ice cream.
