While walking about doing my touristy look-ee looing around downtown Pismo Beach, I spied this shop. The colorful 6 feet tall metal T Rex caught my eye. It was in front of the shop next to the shops garden art outdoor gate. Well I stepped right in, garden art galore. Water fountains, wall art, wind chimes, decorative rain spouts, statues, stepping stones, seating, etc.... in tons of styles from Big Foot hunters to tranquil Asian Zen to serene religious to charming English countryside to beach theme to fairy whimsy to funky industrial modern to retro mid century....so on. The interior shop had more art, plus hardware inventory. They even carried a small selection of bbqs. They had a charcoal Weber at a summer close out pricing. Also if you have a pesky rodent or bird issue, they got you covered. I am somewhat familiar with that issue since I currently battled the takeover of a portion of my roof to a flock of birds. Hadn't realized that they'd expanded, added in vintage dealer spaces, and moved to a new place. Luckily, I found them online and realized that they had a new location. Dear Hubby and I had been staying in nearby Santa Maria and decided to drop in on our way south. It was worth the trip. I like that they have such a great variety of merchandise. The main front room is mostly spaces for local crafters / artisans with new or newer goods. Moving toward the back and side rooms, there are many booths for dealers with vintage / antique items. It's a browsers paradise! Couldn't resist picking up a sparkly pair of earrings, a "Farmhouse"-logo pillow, and some small succulents for a great price. Most everything seems fairly priced, actually. The woman minding the store (owner, perhaps?) was very friendly and helpful as we rounded up our purchases. I did ask about Mike's Birdhouses, which was one of the reasons that we'd stopped by. We'd previously purchased several of his charming rustic creations and were looking for more. Mike also operates a shop with model train supplies, but is only open a couple of days mid-week. The woman told us that she's reached out to him a number of times about him bringing in some of his birdhouses, but he hasn't made it happen yet. Still, it was enjoyable to see the different displays of goods. A lot of emphasis on Valentine's Day, which is coming soon. I'm sure they'll dive headfirst into Spring/Easter soon thereafter. Definitely worth a visit when you're in the area.

The classes are held in an over 100 year-old family home and it is very warm and inviting. It is fun to attend the hands-on classes and there are always interesting fellow attendees to meet. Ingrid has a lifetime of experience with home cooking and as a Master Food Preserver for the San Luis Obispo Cooperative Extension Office and her knowledge base is vast. I highly recommend taking a class from Ingrid and Nicolle to anyone who enjoys cooking and wants to learn something new. An added bonus is that breakfast and lunch are included with each in-person class and you get to take home whatever you learned to make, plus handouts and recipes.

The classes take place in a quintessential 100+ year old farmhouse. All the participants are snuggly seated in their home but everyone was lovely and having a wonderful time (tip - there will be 2 demonstration tables, sit at the one with the hanging camera. Talk about front row seats!). My class was candy making. We were supplied with a small recipe booklet of around 10 different candies. Plus, you'll also get recipes for the food they serve. Yes, that's right - they feed you! You get a light breakfast & lunch, all homemade food from Grandma's kitchen, including homemade bread. The farm homestead isn't hard to find. Just know that the last two 'streets' are dirt roads and you'll have a private parking attendant (Grandpa) waiting to direct you. It was very easy to make reservations online & they provide excellent communication both before & after the class. The cost was sooo worth it! Can't wait to sign-up for my next class.

My daughters are enjoying classes with Brendan and Michael. Both teachers are very patient as they guide the girls through their first exposure to musical instruments. I appreciate the quantity of instruments they get to try as they find what they most enjoy. My 5 year old loves the drums! Who knew? We love the little location in the village where we can walk for a snack or coffee after class. Overall, it's been an enjoyable experience so far.
