We visit this place every several years to pick up a fresh loofah and that will certainly continue, it's a very cute place. It's so cute! An adorable little farm with great products. They give a nice tour of the small space with lots of facts about luffa plants. You get to see the green house where they grow which is fun. They also have dried and ready to use luffas for sale. Got a few while there and they are truly the highest quality luffas I've ever used and it's so nice to know they are not treated with any chemicals. I now use a luffa not only in the shower, but also to wash dishes. It's a total game changer. I will either be going to the farm or ordering online from them for all my future luffa needs. We showed up early afternoon for a free tour. The nice lady was very informative about the various stages of luffa plant life. Instructions included how to care for your personal luffa. Ultimately it becomes the scrubber or sponge for the consumer. The greenhouses were filled with abundant growth. So beautiful, wish I could have stayed inside a bit longer. However it's hotter inside the greenhouse than is was outside. We visited in August. I was intrigued to learn that most luffa sponges are imported. They tend to have mold issues and stiffness problems because of chemicals and synthetic materials. They grow all of their luffa's here naturally. Free of any pesticides or synthetic materials. Because of this, they will last many years, stay mold free, softer texture and keep you clean! After the greenhouse tour it was fun to walk the gardens. Check out the tree's, bottle garden and the welcome cow's of course. They have a small gift shop filled with everything luffa. Including soaps, lotions and aromatherapy sets. When I arrived there was someone waiting for me and my son who asked if I wanted a free tour. She showed me the different luffa's and where they grow. Fun fact, it's the only place in the country you can see where luffa plants grow. Their stand offers different affordable luffa's which apparently last a year, maybe more! First time visit and definitely going back ! The host was so sweet and knowledgeable. They have a variety of herbs on their garden. I asked if I can buy a little stem of the sweet mint and she literally gave me a root to grow my own :) and extra to make tea for FREE she was so friendly and giving. Who knew Loofahs grow in Nipomo on a family farm and look like giant zucchini's while growing?! They're open from 10-4 Wednesday through Sunday, no reservation needed if there is less than 6 in your party. You're greeted by a friendly guide (Victoria in our case) who is knowledgeable about all things loofah. You get to see and touch the plants growing on the vine in the greenhouse, and then you visit the little gift shop. They make their own glycerin soaps, bath salts, bubble bath and of course loofahs. This is a cute little unique farm. They are pet friendly. I made a quick stop here while I was in the neighborhood. It is free. They also offer tour of the farm which lasts for 10-15minutes. The tour guy was friendly and informative. There's a gift shop where they sell their products - particularly luffas but also other items like soaps, bath rocks, lotions and such. They also sell these online. There's plenty of lavender and other herbs growing in the farm and a couple of picnic tables. OH man. What a random treat! Never would I have dreamed that this existed. I had no idea luffa was even a plant until I discovered this place. I randomly came to Santa Maria for two days, and the hotel gave me a small guide to the area. It recommended this place and I became intrigued immediately! First off, I love a good farm visit. The visit is free. It is in the middle of nowhere as is the whole area lol. As you turn into the farm and follow a windy road to parking, it is very colorful and quirky. There are a bunch of little signs and figurines. We were the only ones there when we visited. It was a Saturday around 11 or so. When we got off the car, a guy was waiting for us and asked if we wanted a little tour/information about luffas. We said yes! This guy took us into the greenhouse and told us allll about luffas, showed us the plants growing, and answered our questions. It only took 15 minutes or so to get informed. The guy was really nice, didn't catch his name. Then we checked out the gift shop! I bought a few face luffas for me and some family as gifts. It's a small farm, I saw two greenhouses of luffa plants. I also saw right next to us, cute goats and a kid and some dogs. Never knew there are farms just for Loofas! I was just scrolling through the app seeing what's out there for my visit in pismo and I came across this gem! Of course I had to stop by and get some and some for my mom. What am amazing offbeat attraction. Who knew loofah came from a vegetable and not the sea?! NOT THIS YELPER! So while heading up the coast during the tail end of the covid19 pandameic, we came across this place. We drove in and noticed they weren't open yet, but happened across whom I'm presuming may have been the owners. We didn't realize they were closed until after we parked but the employees were kind enough to give us a little run down and inevitably giving a wonderful tour of their garden and loofah farm. What an eclectic, cool, free spirited place. They had masks on and hand sanitizer.. And we kept our physical distance the whole time. She opened up her small store for us to peek in. We weren't allowed to go in but were able to see and hear about the various products from just outside the door. We left with a few loofahs, hand sanitizer. What a great offbeat attraction. All Hail The Luffa... The Luffa Farm in Nipomo is like one of those neighborhood gems you drive by and always say "we're going to visit that place soon". For us, "soon" turned out to be 20 months after we moved from San Jose to Nipomo. When you hear the word luffa, what comes to mind? Soft, fluffy gourds or a hard-as-brick sponge you got as a gift years ago? Any luffa sponge you find in stores goes through procedures which destroy the natural texture of the sponge (for importation since most come from outside the US). The Luffa Farm grows Heirloom Luffas without any harsh treatments so you get a soft, washable, non-abrasive plant-based sponge. The entrance to the Farm is along Willow Road about 1/2 mile east of Via Concha. Past the sign, you'd never know what lies a few blocks up the hill from Willow. Our group of 5 joined a 20 minute tour in progress and visited two of their 3 greenhouses...along with a fruit orchard...and learned some interesting information about these very useful sponges. The grounds are surprisingly large and colorful with a small, but packed to the brim gift shop of reasonably priced luffa and bathroom/toiletry items. Our guide, whose name I forgot, was a young guy in charge of social media (possibly among other things). He, and everyone else we met during our one hour stay, could not have been more friendly. There are two large "55 and over" communities within a mile of the Luffa Farm...Trilogy and Black Lake. From my informal survey in Trilogy, I bet a majority of the residents have never taken the time to make the short drive. It's well worth the visit. read more

I had no idea what the difference was between buying online and buying local with a product like this before seeing how they're grown and hearing the difference in processing. It gets warm in the green houses, even on a chillier day. With a mask on, I couldn't handle the tour too long, but appreciate the info they shared as well as their efforts at cleanliness (hand sanitizer used before touching anything). Heard about the farm in a training on skin care essentials and since I was passing through the area decided to stop by and take the tour and learn about these amazing 'sponges' - who knew they grew on a vine? Not me... who knew they were in the gourd family? Not me! Eric gave me a tour of the farm and was knowledgeable and patient answering all my questions. Parking is free- the tour is free- there is an adorable little gift shop where you can purchase your own luffas because once you experience these locally grown luffas you'll never want to pick any up at the other retailers that sell them. The farm is surrounded by gorgeous growing lush herbs and fruit trees and fun garden art can be enjoyed throughout. My dog was welcomed and enjoyed himself. A not to miss spot! This is the most unique visitor destination near SLO. It is quite rare to find a luffa farm here in the US due to the environmental requirements, and most imported luffa comes from China or Brazil, but must be fumigated for pests and chemically treated, which results in a harsh and tough luffa. Here, everything is completely organic, and you can tell that the luffa grown here is soft, non-abrasive, and the perfect gentle exfoliant for the skin. There is free parking as you enter the farm. It can be a little confusing to drive into, but just follow the signs until you reach the parking spots outside of the barn. We were greeted by a friendly staff member, who offered to give us a free private tour of the farm. She first showed us the stark difference between their luffa and the hardened luffa in stores. Then she showed us the luffa rows in a covered greenhouse, with luffa squash ranging from the young to older variety. The old luffa skin is peeled back to reveal the fibrous luffa that we know for bath products. They also grow avocados, lemons, and lavender behind the luffa. We also got to smell chocolate mint, which smelled delicious. There is an adorable gift shop where you can buy their luffa and other bath products. They were COVID prepared, requiring masks and sanitizing hands. We appreciated the tour and learning about luffas. Oh my word this place is amazing. If you love learning and seeing new things then you'll love it here. There is so much to learn and see. Who knew that a luffa grew like a cucumber and that only after it looks dead it can be used as a product to wash yourself or things with. They grow some soft luffa. Not like the ones you see at the store. Here you get to go inside the greenhouses and see all the different stages of the luffa. It is so neat to see. The tour guides are so informative and amazing. We seriously learned so much. You can also buy luffa at the gift store. We bought two ready to use and two that we have to clean since our children are not with us and we know they would love to see. We went out here on a whim as we were staying in Pismo Beach on a short holiday. What a gem! The property is well maintained and decorated with a lot of humor and care. It's beautifully landscaped and parking is easy. The short tour was informative. I never knew how much I did NOT know about luffas. Our hostess was kind, enthusiastic and had a great sense of fun. She took us through the operations and answered questions knowledgeably. The little shop offered beautiful products of luffa and handmade soaps, bath salts, lotions at reasonable prices. I wanted to support this small local business so we drove out to the Luffa farm. I had seen the tour on YouTube so I did not need to see a tour, although being on the property you can't help but see the plants and the luffa's hanging from the vines. The woman who assisted us was knowledgable and helpful - their little store had luffas available ranging in prices from $6-$15 and they also have soaps, lotions and body shampoos available too. I found the soaps, lotions and body shampoos to be very "crafty" and not very professional - looks like they went to Michaels, bought a block of glycerin soap and did melt and pours with their luffas.
