My first loaf of sourdough bread! My boyfriend is not a bread eater but this was gone in 2 days!

I cannot begin to tell you what an AMAZING experience taking Grandma Ingrids classes!! I am a moderate cook/baker (confident with some things more than others) and just had a odd fear of sourdough starter. I tried to make my own but never felt sure about it. When I saw Grandma Ingrids classes I thought, great, what a good way to learn. Ordering, receiving the starter, and taking the classes at home with the recipes and video (videos are a must btw) has made a WORLD of difference with my understanding of sourdough. I've not only kept my starter alive but have made one round artesian loaf and today the english muffins (that are to die for!!! but again, watch the video - full of SO much info!!). This not only makes me excited to bake again but to take more classes!!! Ingrid and Nicolle know their stuff and are SO helpful by email also. They really go out of their way to help.

From the moment I reached out to Kathryn, she was warm and friendly, detailed, upfront, responsive, and very communicative. She even worked with me to offer something new for the main course which was a new recipe she just tried for a recent event, and asked lots of questions to ensure that the food she was going to make suited our preferences. Kathryn accommodated our request to have dinner on the patio, and her presentation was amazing! Kathryn's warmth and friendly personality extended to the evening of the dinner as well. Kathryn's food was SO delicious!! Everyone gobbled everything up, and my kids couldn't get enough of the tzatziki! The wines that Kathryn chose for the courses paired very well. The fish was soooo good that there was nothing left on anyone's plates! Everything was delicious - shrimp fritter, tzatziki / pita, pomegranate salad, orange roughy with veggies and cous cous, and the chocolate mousse that was so light and yummmmmy! We had the full service meal option, and Kathryn explained all the courses and the wine nicely throughout. A huge plus was that our kitchen was spotless at the end of the evening, which was so nice not to have to worry about cleaning up at the end of the night. What an amazing experience - thank you Kathryn for making our anniversary dinner so memorable! If you are vacationing in Pismo Beach, or even if you live in the area, I would highly recommend that you reach out to Kathryn!

It was the first time we were here, and from the description online I thought this would be a hands-on class, where you learn new kitchen skills and prepare meals with a chef's instruction. This is NOT what these classes are! You come in and sit around the bar looking into an open kitchen environment where volunteers prepare the meals for you. Adjusting our expectations quickly, we still had a lot of fun at this dining event. We received the recipes for the eight or so dishes that were presented during the class, our favorites were the seared salmon with Miso honey sauce, shrimp and basil stir fry, stuffed tomatoes with goat cheese and zucchini, skillet tortellini with crispy prosciutto and spring vegetables, pan-roasted filets mignon with asparagus and the strawberry rhubarb crumble. You can bring your own wine, too. Chef Debbie narrates all dishes, provides tips on what to look out for when you're shopping for ingredients and gives instruction to the volunteers that so all the prepping, cooking and cleaning. I wish Debbie would use a microphone, as she mostly sat on the other side of the bar, and we had a hard time hearing her sometimes. When dishes are ready, they are passed down the bar in huge serving dishes, so you can take as little or as much as you like of each of the dishes. I would recommend the meals are put in smaller serving bowls/platters and multiple are being passed to the attendees. When you're at the end of the line, you might otherwise not get much of the food, or you're left with scraps. The serving platters were way to big, and uncomfortable to pass around. Also, please get tongs to make it easier to pass out the food - especially the pasta or asparagus. All in all a fun date night, we were full with delicious food and received some great tips during the night. Would I go again for $75 per person? Unlikely, I really missed hands-on instruction, and think it's too pricey for us to do on a regular basis.

We started with a trip to the farmer's market, where Laurence pointed out different items and talked through the differences in different types of food (green garlic was new to me!). We later met at her home, and the cooking began. She did a good job of rotating the tasks throughout the group, and explaining the techniques as she went. We got to taste as we went, and after all the chopping was done, wine was served. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the other participants were friendly and engaged, making it a fun, social experience as well. And, of course, the best part was sitting down at the end to enjoy the fruits of our labor. The dishes we prepared were full of flavor and creativity, and I walked away feeling incredibly satisfied and inspired to keep cooking. I highly recommend this class to anyone who loves food and wants to expand their culinary horizons. Whether you're looking to learn new techniques, discover fresh ingredients, or just have a fun day out, Market Forays is a fantastic choice.

I brought my work group here and we had so much fun learning how to make pizza and the dough. "I never knew the right way" clearly. It was exciting and fun. They set it up like chopped the tv show, you get to pick your ingredients, go to your station and make some yummy ass pizzas or whatever food there cooking. I highly recommend going here. I found this rental while researching venues for an engagement party. Looks nice from pictures and…read morevideos, but dealing with the owner was difficult. In addition to the $750 event fee, she requires that both suites be rented for a minimum of THREE nights (almost $2000). This not only is an exorbitant rate, but seems absurd considering we would only need the space for one evening. Still, I was willing to consider it as a retreat for the bride-to-be. The owner also stated that she would need to have final approval over our caterer, which struck me as utterly bizarre. When I inquired about viewing the property physically, she did not respond for nearly a week and I had to contact her again before receiving an answer. We set up an appointment, only to be informed that she would be away, but she would "leave a list" with her husband if we had any questions. The day before our appointment, she emailed to say they had people checking in early and that we either needed to reschedule or we could still come, but we would only be able to view the outside of the property. Considering the price point, I opted to reschedule. Then two days before our second scheduled appointment, I received an email from her with a "heads up" that she and her husband both had to be in SLO BY NOON, so please be on time for our appointment - our 11AM appointment that she had already rescheduled once and was now going to be rushing through so they could get off to SLO. I found the insinuation that I would not be punctual quite insulting. At this point, I determined that as pretty as the setting looks in their ads, continuing to deal with the owner was not worth the hassle. My advice to others is to look elsewhere, as I am doing. There are lots of wonderful venues in and around Paso that are operated by much more pleasant and reliable individuals.
