Once you step inside, it feels like you have stepped into some kind of underground nightclub. I don't know the history of the building but it probably was an industrial space of some sort. With the presence of the disco ball you couldn't help but feel a retro vibe. I have been to 416 Wabash for corporate events and fundraisers. There are several bars throughout and abundant space for a dance floor. I always enjoy hanging out in the balcony and looking down at the stage and crowd.

The venue itself is perfect for a show like this. The stage in the center, a few rows of VIP seats and standing room. I think this would be a great location for a party!

The negative: unless it is a sold-out show, the back entrance is rarely open so you have to walk all of the way around the amphitheater. This is super inconvenient given the number of people who walk from their hotel. The positive: you can take in an unopened water bottle or an empty tumbler for water (IN summer can be brutal heat & humidity) The negative: there are only two refill stations throughout the venue. On hot days where attendance is high, you can find yourself waiting in line to refill water for 25-30 minutes.

Sitting on the lawn ain't bad. In fact, sitting on a blanket was preferable for me because it allowed me to do some stretching while I listened to the ebullient sounds of an all-female Japanese kawaii metal band. Speaking of sounds: The sound at this outdoor music venue is great. I feel like there isn't a bad seat in the house, even if you have lawn seats. The lawn is sloped, with the stage being at the bottom of the hill, so you have a great view no matter where you're sitting. Plus, there are big TVs showing you what's happening on stage, so you can really see everything. I got dropped off and picked up, which was another good decision. Drop off is a breeze, as there's a designated rideshare spot at Gate 2A just north of Boden and 146th Street. Pick up was also a breeze: Just tell your driver to get there a little bit before the show is supposed to end. Another good thing: There are lots of restrooms! And the restrooms are clean. There are also water bottle refilling stations, which is nice. It's nice that they're not charging for water, if you have a water bottle to refill. Where they getcha is with the alcohol, but that's true for any venue. Still, I grimaced when I had to pay $22 for a pint of Bell's Two Hearted IPA. That didn't stop me from buying two of them, but still. I wasn't happy, dang it! For the most part, I enjoyed my experience at Ruoff Music Center. Some things to keep in mind: It took us about half an hour to get in after being dropped off. If you don't have a bag for them to check, you will get through faster. You can bring bug spray, just don't bring aerosol bug spray, because they will take it away from you. (People are dumb and ruin things for others.) You can bring in outside snacks, as long as they are contained to one gallon-sized bag per person. Bring your patience -- everyone seems like they're doing the best that they can here.

I knew there was a garage but I parked on the street a block away, which was the right decision as I heard it takes long to exit the garage after the show if you park there. It is such a beautiful space. When I got inside, it was unclear where I was supposed to go. But once I went to the right section,The seat was easy to find. However, unfortunately the people with poor etiquette ruined my experience a bit. Some were constantly talking during the performance, others took out a phone with a bright screen in when it was dark. I think they need to remind the audience to be courteous and respectful, although it is a common sense.

The parking is kind of iffy - there's a gravel lot next to it and it could use a little upkeep. I was slightly scared there would be a nail or something that would put a hole in my tire, but everything turned out fine. I didn't know this space was here and am curious what else they might have here so I'd definitely come back to another event.

Monon 30 is an initiative to revitalize the neighborhood…read moresurrounding the Monon Trail and E. 30th St. There are plans for a community hub, housing, and a grocery store. Admittedly, the area is somewhat dilapdated with old industrial buildings, but they are starting off on the right foot with The Cradle. The Cradle at Monon 30 is meant to be an art/culture and culinary hub. They used the industrial backdrop and turned it on its head. They used cargo containers to build a performance stage and food booths. The venue is made more inviting by using bright colors and live plants. There are canopys and umbrellas for shade, and toward the back there is a game area. Several food vendors are usually on-site, and they just received a license to serve cocktails in addition to beer and wine. For the last few weekends, there have been live music of different genres. There are some seating in front of the stage, but really you can enjoy the sounds from anywhere. You are welcomed to take a seat or meander around the venue as you see fit. Monon 30 is such an unexpected place in a neighborhood you are probably not accustomed to. Don't let the zip code deter you and check it out yourself. The Cradle is just a first step, and I am curious to see how the rest of Monon 30 unfolds.

What a perfect annual music festival taking over and showcasing all that Garfield Park has to…read moreoffer. I was fortunate enough to win a pair of tickets to both days (thank you Indy Chamber!) so I was excited to check things out, for free. Location: the location is perfect. It's near downtown, but far enough to not have to worry about traffic or congestion, even when construction was going on in the area. Garfield Park is perfect for a music festival, and HOTH showed it's possible. The trees added some much-needed shade during the 2nd day when the sun was beaming down. Weather: the weather made this event perfect - a perfect way to celebrate the first day of fall! Crowds: very small, but high for being its first year. The stages had ample room to stand/sit and listen wherever you wanted to be. Vendors: the vendors were a nice mix - a little of something for everyone. The aluminum cups seemed to be a great hit. A cool idea for next year would be to have that cup come with admission and then you can have beverage vendors set a price where they can fill them up. The food trucks were nice for all dietary needs as well which was great. :) Lots of spaces available for adult beverages from both national and local companies. Lineup: a perfect way to introduce yourself to new bands and fall in love with musicians you already know in the intimate festival experience. Ticketing: getting your wristbands was extremely easy and effortless. Branding/swag: this is where the festival hit the nail on the head for me. The branding was spot-on. From the graphics, you knew exactly what you were getting from the get-go. The swag was amazing and so perfectly designed too :) One concern: beverage licensing. I knew Hotel Tango was a big sponsor of the event but wasn't able to keep their set up in place (with free liquor samples/cocktails) after excise police asked them to tear down, due to licensing issues. That should be addressed next year to ensure all sponsors/vendors are okay in their designated locations.

Be prepared to walk, bring a chair. The only seating is in front of the amphitheatre and at picnic tables around the park. Reserved seating applies only to the amphitheatre; no seating in front of the other two stages. Port-o-lets are unisex. Ladies, bring t.p. with you. Enough said.

Something we didn't love was that when purchasing the tickets for the show, the website showed that we were sitting at tables and you picked which table you wanted to sit at. When we were seated though, the theater was all just one large section of very small theater seats, so that was misleading.
