Shawn G here. I don't post a lot of reviews, but I'm starting to share only the greatest hits--the…read moreplaces that really stand out--and Amaterra in downtown Bend makes that list easily. This is a membership experience as much as it is a restaurant. The architecture and design are divine: floor-to-ceiling wine cases, a beautiful fireplace lounge, and that city-meets-cellar feel with the wine barrel walls. It's the kind of place you actually want to sit in and take in, not rush through. If you're looking for spots worth paying attention to, this is a good one to start with. I'll be back.

The ambience was lovely, the service was impeccable, and the food was incredible. The pairings of different textures and flavors were so unique and so absolutely delicious. We ordered "family style" and shared everything - 2 appetizers, 6 entrees, a dessert, and 2 bottles of wine. I'm sure the menu rotates, but here are the highlights of what we had and why it was so amazing: Cornbread - incredible texture and delicious butter; Beet salad - beet raviolis where the beats sub for pasts and are stuffed with cheese (amazing!); crispy potato salad - looks small upon arrival but had such bold flavor and wonderful crispiness; Ricotta Gnudi and Scallops (jambalaya) - we ordered one each of these, then ordered another round of each because they were just that good; and the Creme Brulee - just the right ratio of creaminess to crunchy top. After everything, including tax and tip, the entire bill was just under $100 per person - which we all thought was incredibly reasonable given the quality and uniqueness of the food and the the quality of the service and atmosphere. We were so happy we chose to come here and plan to return on our next sojourn to Bend.

Breakfast service was friendly and courteous. Very quiet. Same spot for no vibe 19th hole drinks. Bartender needs service training. Better to go out into town for the after round. Clubhouse service snootiness was expected and experienced with the lavishly expensive price for a round of golf $$$$. Merch designs not impressive enough to buy. Would play again but maybe better valued during the off season.

Most of the employees were friendly and spoke when they saw me. Many of the employees were helpful. My room had everything I needed including two beds, a large shower, a patio with a table and two chairs, toiletries, a Nespresso coffee maker (also included coffee, tea, sugar, honey, and creamer). The room had a sink, microwave, and mini fridge. There was also a couch, good quality tv, and a fire place. I liked that I've was available and it was pre-bagged to ensure cleanliness. The bathroom had a his and her sink setup, the shower is separate from the toilet, and the air conditioner was perfect, when needed. My only dislike about the room was the outlet near the bed. There was only one outlet available for a device that was not a phone or laptop. I needed to hook up a medical device and the outlet was too far from the top of the bed. I used the hot tub, sauna, steam room, and trails. At times, the women's locker room was a dirty mess. It would have been nice for someone to stay on top of keeping it clean. During the conference, we were served food, coffee, tea, and drinks. All the staff attending to us were great. Anything we needed, they provided it. I would for sure visit again!

If it were not for The Haven I would have been way less comfortable visiting Bend as often as I did. The Haven offers several comfortable ad hoc working stations. I'm a lounge back with my feet up kind of laptop worker and there were a couple of spots that were able to fully serve my needs. For me, when it comes to shared workspaces the most important thing is a private setting for an online meeting. To my count the Haven has about 12-13 spots where you can go to carry out private meetings. These spots include 5 phone booths, 3 small conference rooms, 1 large conference room, and about 3-4 isolated open areas. They are also adding more all the time so by the time you're reading this review this number might have increased. Management is awesome. The owner Scott is a really good guy and truly cares about the welfare of the members. The wife, whom I didnt really interact with much, is also a good person and she is a local elected education official. Honestly, everyone on staff is awesome and helpful. Shout out to Heather and Cynthia. Whenever I went I always felt very welcomed. Finally, a shared workspace is ran by staff however the members are what really make up the environment. The Haven as a great diverse group of members who have a wide range of jobs. Every now and then I would to see what other members were doing on their monitors and I saw some pretty intriguing stuff.

The company hosting the seminar covered the cost of our room, so we did not pay for it. The property itself is large and sprawls on either side of the river. We stayed on the second level, with a balcony overlooking the river, which was really nice! The hotel is from the 1970's, but it seemed nicely maintained and the room was very clean. Amenities I appreciated were the dual bathroom vanities, comfy chair, refrigerator, and USB charging ports on the wall. The room itself was generously sized. The bathroom was very clean and the water pressure in the shower was fine (not terrible, but not amazing). One thing I really missed having in the room was a microwave to reheat leftovers or coffee...I was surprised by the absence of this common amenity. As stated earlier, we didn't pay for this room. I looked up pricing, and the base rate seemed relatively reasonable. However, they tack on a 19% "amenity fee" that raises the rate quite a bit, along with the usual transient taxes by state and local governments. Even though I found our stay here to be enjoyable, I don't think I'd pay the rate they're charging overall for that same room. Although the river view was nice, I think I'd skip it and save some money. If their rates are acceptable to you and you value a riverside view, it's absolutely a nice hotel to stay at. All of the staff we encountered were very kind, too. I can't really say anything negative about our experience here! I would have given it a five star review, but I find the final room rate to be too expensive and having a microwave would have been appreciated.

I contacted the hotel to make sure they would send a shuttle to pick us up at Redmond airport. The response back was: Thank you for your inquiry. We do not have airport transportation available this evening and would encourage utilizing ride share such as Uber or Lyft. - Kristen We arrived at 11:30pm at night and paid $70 for an uber to the lodge. Once there, the man at the main desk said that the first shuttle is at 10:30pm and is usually full because it's for airline stewards. Then he gave us a map and directions to go to our room, Room 4004 in building A. We walked to building A, didn't find out room, and then walked around for another 30 minutes at 1am exhausted. We finally determined there was no room number 4004. This was a farce. We walked back to the reception and he said that the system said there was a room 4004 but apparently there wasn't. He said the lodge was almost completely booked. Our options were a lackluster room with a view of a dirt hill down to the pool or a room with bunk beds. We chose the dirt hill. We will definitely never come back here and hopefully be able to find another hotel tomorrow.
