This is a 27 hole golf course that had been in the area a long time and it shows in the cart paths and ancillary areas of the property . The cart paths are supposed to be asphalt, but are about half gravel and dirt. There are areas of no grass and mud along the cart paths where you have to walk carefully to not get muddy shoes and find grass to hit off of. The greens are fast and most holes are difficult to hit into because they are located on slopes rather than flat ground. It also is not cheap. Being a rather pricey course. Less than some surrounding courses. But more costly than a lot of others read more

starters and cart guys need an attitude adjustment. they think nothing of yelling at you from 200 yards away over something they dont have a clue what they are talking about. the golf course is NOT the place for yelling. its supposed to be peaceful and relaxed, not jacked up yelling at someone who is paying money to be there. giving it 2 stars because inside staff is nice but im not gonna be yelled at by some clown who works as a starter/cart guy. also giving it serious consideration of not going back. rude arrogant and ignorant is no way ti go thru life. Clubhouse smelled of mold and visible mold around hvac ducts. The price is a ripoff for tourists (over $100). Only a locals course. Tight fairways and crowned greens are annoying. Many much better courses around it. read more

The Pearl is a beautiful course and is well maintained however the cart paths need some major repairs as they are so rough and filled with pot holes it's like driving in Michigan. The clubhouse is also on the dated side and could use a little remodeling as well. Overall, it is a course that I will return to and play again as the landscape of the course and the beauty of nature around you definitely makes up for the poor cart paths. lol read more

I recently visited the 3rd ring of Hell; it's named The Pearl. Promised a great round of golf at one of Calabash's finest, we rolled into the Pearl and were hopeful, seeing the vista's and marshlands - you know, what you see on their website and pictures. Once you cash in and buy your bag of range balls to warm up, you lug your bag to the range as carts aren't allowed. I thought, excellent, they care for the course properly...then, you get the starter instructions regarding where your starting and sent off - into the first ring of hell...you see, those pretty holes, those are few and far between - maybe 2 per 9 holes, the rest, zig zag an unkept jungle of fertile mosquito breeding grounds the likes not seen since life climbed from the proverbial primordial ooze. I kid you not - swarm upon swarm of mosquitoes descend upon you to the point you cannot focus due to the buzzing in your ears...and the bites - I'm headed to a Walgreens for an at home malaria test kit. But for the love of the game - we press on, into the second ring - aka 3 to 4 groups of golfers on each hole. Rest easy my friends, the 5.5 hour round is alive and well at the Pearl. A part of me wondered, did they stack golfers to feed the mosquito swarm? It seemed plausible, perhaps the loss of blood due to the bites made me delusional, who's to know. And now, you've survived the swarms, and continue... in spite of slow play, we descend into the 3rd ring, ruled by callous and socially challenged attendants, the course itself. A design that appears to be lacking continuity and planning, it's fallen into disrepair, almost mocking you for still being there. Pin placements in nonsensical locations and fairways that appear more planned for potato farming than a golf ball - calling it a dog track would be insulting to gray hounds everywhere. Awful awful place and the worst experience on a golf course I've ever had in Myrtle Beach. When Dante Alighieri uttered "In the middle of the journey of our life I found myself within a dark woods where the straight way was lost." - one might think he was referring to The Pearl Beware my friends.... Course itself was in good shape. But don't understand how after 3 days of sun several holes are CPO. We didnt find any areas that were wet! Also, why do you spray the practice green with chemicals in the Morning so that it needs to be closed all day for golfers. CAN'T THIS BE DONE LATER IN THE DAY SO PAYING CUSTOMERS CAN USE IT BEFORE THEIR ROUND??? How about doing stuff for the benefit of paying golfers instead of just what's best for you! read more

I'll be generous and give the Pearl 3 stars due to a quick pace of play and professionalism of the cart team. We had a booking for the east and north course lay outs. I asked which layouts were recommended and the starter offered the "Old West" which included the west and north. We proceeded on this recommendation and found the west design to be very spongey, dark, and wet. Add in the narrow fairways and you've got a long day of golf. The north design was much more playable, scenic, and pleasurable. We've played 5 rounds of golf in the area and this is the one course I would not pay again. read more

The golf pro (green shirt) here is the most unprofessional pro I have come across. My group was asked to leave the course before closing because the pro wanted to leave early. Our group was unable to play the full round we had paid for and were focused to leave. Absolutely terrible management. Extremely rude. read more

The course was in excellent condition with very challenging greens. I loved the fact that there were not any homes on the course. The last finishing holes along the Calabash River were just beautiful. I would recommend this course to any golf group. Also, the food at the grill was delicious and reasonably priced. The course need better marking for players going from one course to another. The GPS was not working correctly for the course. There needs to be a restroom on each side of the course around the 4th or 5 holes of each side. The 150 markers are seemed to be off by quite a bit. Snack bar was pretty good and the cart lady came around twice, once on the 1st hole and once on the 14th hole. Staff was polite and friendly. Overall the course was in good shape considering all the rain it had the prior days. read more

Beautiful course with gorgeous views. The problem is they over water everything to the point the ground is saturated.

The course is in fantastic shape and the staff was friendly and helpful. The greens are a nightmare. All the greens are crowned and it makes it virtually impossible to hit a shot close to the pin. If you hit it short of the hole it never rolls up. Hit it anywhere else and it feeds off the green almost every time. Otherwise I would like this course. read more

Played the East course 10/18/15. Course was in great shape post the big rains. Course is in a great setting, beautiful views in the finishing holes. If you like greens with a ton of variation, this isn't your place. All are crowned greens... If you're golfing on a budget this is a must play. read more
