We rented bikes for a self-guided day and found it a very easy process. We reserved online the night before and parked at an all day lot a block from the store. The store was located in a cute courtyard in a hotel and bikes, helmets, and locks were ready for us when we arrived. We did a 22 mile ride up the coast and back. It was awkward being the only person for the tour in my time slot but Michael (the tour guide) was very friendly and open to adapting yet professional. It was a phenomenal tour where he gave tidbits of history and lore along with advocacy throughout the time. Even though it was just me, he gave quite the theatrical performance as if it were a full group. There were great views of the park, castle, and coast around Point Zero. We did have an issue with one of the bikes the tire was loose So we were able to fix it right away and they were nice enough to give us a 10% discount. I've been to Victoria a lot and was running out of new things to check out on a recent minibreak. I had a really hard time finding interesting stuff to do on an Thursday afternoon and found pedaler online and saw that they offer tours nearly everyday. They also are willing to provide tours for just 2 people which is also nice. We had a hard time deciding which to do, but eventually settled on the Castles, Hoods and legends, although the hoppy hour ride also was very intriguing. It's a 2 hour tour for about 50$ Canadian and was located very close to both our hotel and the Clipper. They even offer motorized bikes for those who don't want to get exercise, but are still into a city tour, for an additional 30$. Ian was our tour guide and he did a great job. I am pretty fearful of riding on city streets and have little experience doing so, but he kept the tour at a pace that felt comfortable. It is a bit of exercise, but there are frequent stops. I had never been up close to the Craigdarroch castle, or to Beacon Hill Park (where we saw the tallest totem pole). My favorite was the Moss Rock which I never would have known to check out on my own. Sadly my boyfriend broke his phone on this vacation so all our great pictures were lost or I would show you the amazing view we were able to witness from this locale. I definitely recommend this and plan to check out another tour on my next visit to Victoria. I might try the e-bike just for fun. read more

Ok, I didn't even take the tour but hear me out! 1) I used to train tour guides at the Underground Tour in Seattle. I know an amazing tour guide when I hear one 2) I was once given a private tour of Craigdarroch Castle. I was sitting on a bench outside the castle when Pedaler tour guide Charles Horn brought his group right next to me. He proceeded to give his presentation on the Castle. It was extensive and very interesting. He gave it a labor rights perspective which made it more personal. He grew up in the labor active town of Nanaimo where the coal mine that gave Dunsmuir the start of his fortune was located. Next visit to Victoria I will take the whole tour but meanwhile I can't recommend it highly enough. read more

Best tour of Victoria ever!! Rick was our guide and took us on a tour of the lighthouse, along the coast to the most beautiful beach, to the Beacon Park with peacocks, to Fan Tan Alley and Chinatown and through the city (so charming!) and over to the Parliament House. We stopped for a bit at each location and he provided some history - it was leisurely but a nice bit of exercise! We had a 2 hour tour and it was perfect. This was with my husband who is not a small fella or in the best shape. And my 10 year old twins. And we all did great - absolutely loved the tour and Rick. And the bikes were great too! Well tuned and cared for. The City of Victoria was made to be seen by bicycle- we followed trails and bike lanes (or quiet residential streets with beautiful homes) the whole way. Absolutely fantastic tour of the city and some local eats with our guide Felix. I cannot imagine a more perfectly laid out bike and food tour.This 4-hour tour went from 11:30 until 3:30 and was beautifully paced and quite varied. Among the seven stops we had Neapolitan pizza, ice cream sandwiches, a full tea tasting, fish sandwiches, and more. Each stop was lovely and represented a local business that took pride in their craft. The bikes were comfortable and the pace was leisurely, and Felix knew a lot about the local area and was genuinely helpful and friendly the whole time. This was a great way to spend an afternoon and was one of the best planned of these sorts of food tours I've ever done. Highly recommended! read more

Had a lovely "eat drink pedal" tour with our guide Karly through the lovely city. We left promptly at 11am after introductions and a safety briefing (helmets are the law!) and went on our merry way to our first stop - award winning neapolitan pizza! The day featured several other styles of food - unlimited olive/balsamic vinegar tasting (trust me on this one, you will be pleasantly surprised), ice cream, macarons, chocolate, tea and seafood. Everything was centered on the premise of local and organic (as much as achievable). Karly also threw in some Victoria history along the way including a visit to the "world's tallest totem pole" and fan tan alley (in Canada's oldest Chinatown). Karly's energy and love for food and Victoria was infectious and she passes all of that along to us. Overall my friend and I had a lovely experience and finished promptly around 3:15pm (despite being a little rusty on the bike at first... Luckily Victoria is ultra bike friendly! We were literally riding in the middle of the road and cars always yielded to us), highly recommended! P.s. Their road cruiser is adorable! read more

This was more of a bike ride than a tour, we enjoyed riding around Victoria, but our "guide" did not seem to know a lot about the area, one of the Electric bikes stopped working less than 10 minutes into our 2 1/2 hour ride, we told the leader and the sweeper, and they really didn't acknowledge it. The guides were very nice guys and very pleasant to ride around with, not helpful with the broken bike, and not terribly knowledgeable about the area, but a beautiful day on the bikes, despite having to ride a very heavy electric bike with no power... It would've been nice if they offered to reimburse us for the difference between a standard bike and electric bike, probably should've asked for that, and next time they have a broken electric bike I think they could call their shop and have them bring one that works.. I wish our guides Don and Ben a lot of success, hopefully, with a little more experience this will be a pleasant experience for others! read more

So so glad we decided to tour Victoria by bike --- what an amazing experience! We also got the 5 star experience as because we had gone on a Wednesday with not much tourists around, my husband and I were the only tourists who enlisted for a tour that day, so we essentially got our own private tour of Victoria pretty much by their amazing tour guides. I love their bikes -- they ride really well. I requested that they add a basket on my rented bike for my purse. Before we started the ride, the tour guides gave us the safety talk, reminded us of the proper hand signals, how we'll form (first tour guide in front, us in the middle, and second tour guide in back, "sandwiching" us for safety), etc. I'm not a city rider so driving through downtown was a bit scary for me, but with the expertise of Pedaler Cycling tour guides, I knew that if I just follow their cue I'll be good. Other than being amazing riders, what I love the most about this team is that they KNOW Victoria. They speak of each stop with passion, gusto, and knowledge. Rick our guide was excellent. Safety was a priority. He is very knowledgeable about the area and history and took us to most of the important landmarks and sites in the time allotted. The bikes were in excellent condition and they worked with us at the beginning to make sure the height and seat positions were at maximum comfort for us. We got to see more then just the downtown area, more cultural and artsy areas we wouldn't have seen otherwise. If you love biking then this tour is for you.
