My son and I attended weekly groups at People Place from age 4mo until 21mo and it was such a foundational support system for us, especially in his first year. Having the ability to vent, seek advice or just receive validation from other moms who "get it" was valuable for me, as I adjusted to being a new parent. It also served the purpose of helping me learn to get out of the house solo with my son on a regular basis in those early months, which built my confidence. Learning tips and tricks from the facilitators and other moms was a great perk - new parenthood can be so isolating and you can get in your own head about milestones. What an awesome group! Robyn and Kazia were very warm and welcoming from the moment I arrived. They had a nice selection of beverages, and the snacks were tasty. The class size was limited to a good number so as to keep things intimate. I really enjoyed the theme and hearing from the other moms. Between the mat setup with blankets, the exercise balls, the nursing pillows, and the basket full of toys, my daughter and I had everything we needed to have a great time! I also really loved the "goodbye song." I definitely be signing up for a package of classes. This group is unlike any other mommy group around (in a good way)! read more

SUCH A GREAT GROUP FOR NEW MOMS!! Kazia and Robyn are like these knowledgeable, supportive, positive big sisters who may not know all the answers, but know the book you should read or the expert you should see or they've had the same experience of they have a friend who went through the same thing... -- in short, they're great. They were this weekly calming force in what was otherwise a kind of chaotic "omg what do I do with this baby!!!" year of my life. And as if that wasn't enough, they make different gourmet snacks paired with wine for every class. Uh, yeah. You read that correctly. The group of women was fantastic. It was a great way to meet other westside moms and get your baby some interaction with other babies. I made friends and my baby made friends, how can you beat that? Mama Needs a Drink is a godsend for moms navigating the new world of life with baby. It's one part food and drink (and who couldn't use some snacks), one part guest speakers (every other week) and one part support group (because good lord, new mom life can be isolating). Kazia and Robyn are wonderful and foster a positivity and love for the babies that make you feel at home each week. I started coming with my baby boy when he was 3 months old. He's now a bouncing, squeaky 10 month old and here are just a few things I've learned from my time there: Baby Massage, Starting Solids, Sleep Training Basics, Baby Yoga... Okay, there's definitely more. But with mommy brain, that's all I can remember. Damn you mommy brain! I'd also name off all the wonderful snacks and special beverages that Kazia and Robyn have whipped up week to week which I remember deliciously vividly. But I won't because I don't want you to start drooling over your computer. It's every Friday at Goda Yoga-- no yoga attire needed. And the first one's free! I attended Mama needs a Drink for about 9 months, so needless to say I loved it! I made friends with some fantastic women and we have stayed in touch beyond my time at MNAD. It was a great place to socialize (for me and my baby), just get out of the house, and get advice. Kazia and Robyn are wonderful and really care about all the women and babes! The guest speakers were wonderful and I got a lot of info on a variety of subjects. I'm so glad I decided to visit this group and check them out. This group is amazing. I felt so cooped up and isolated after bringing home my baby boy and this group got me out of the house and showed me that there were other mamas feeling the same way. The speakers are helpful and the discussion weeks are cathartic. Kazia and Robyn are down to earth and very supportive. The food is always a nice treat. This group helped me get through those first few months as a new mom. They're hard for everyone and it was so great to be around other new moms that were going through the same thing. I always knew when I had a baby I'd want to join a mommy and me group. I didn't realize how difficult it would be to find one that I liked. MNaD was a godsend for me. I went every Thursday and it was the thing I looked forward to most each week. It's led by Robyn and Kazia, two moms with young kids who not too long ago went through the baby phase. They have great speakers every other week and every other week they lead a discussion with the group. While I loved many of the speakers and learned a lot about things like language development, baby massage, positive discipline, etc., I also loved the discussion weeks which enabled me to bond with some wonderful women who I've become close friends with. Robyn and Kazia give great advise while encouraging moms to do what they feel is right for themselves. They've cultivated a group that's extremely supportive and non-judgmental. To make things a little more fun than your average mommy and me group, Robyn and Kazia serve delicious snacks paired with wine (or a fun nonalcoholic beverage) every week. This group attracts fun, easy going and down to earth new moms because the women who run it have all those characteristics. Now my baby girl is almost 1 and graduating out of the group. We will miss it so so much but are so thankful for what it has given us in this first year! read more

This is a great group for new moms. Kazia and Robyn are really welcoming and its nice sharing with other moms and learning from each other. I really liked my time with this mama group. I found the two facilitators affable and not know-it-all-ish, which was refreshing. My two main takeaways was to make sure that I'm taking care of myself in order to properly take care of my little one and that it's okay to ask for help. My biggest complaint is that this mama sometimes needed two drinks. Oh well. read more

Mama Needs a Drink was an absolute necessity for the first year of my son's life. Having newly transitioned to the west coast, I found myself in a position of trying to navigate motherhood and my new surroundings all at the same time. The only constant in my life for awhile there was walking into MNaD on Wednesday afternoons to Kazia and Amanda's smiles and welcoming environment. I could ask questions, vent about whatever was perplexing me at the time, hopefully help out someone who's position I used to be in, eat delicious homemade snacks and just feel connected with a group of likeminded strong and wonderful mamas. At the same time the baby got the chance to play with toys and other kids so it really was a win for both of us. So grateful to these ladies and so glad we found this group -- would definitely highly recommend to new, or repeat moms. read more

I can't say enough about this wonderful "mommy group". That the facilitators, Kazia & Robyn, have created something special and unique from other host-sponsored mommy groups is largely due, I believe, to their own warmth and caring natures. They're not there to "educate" us but instead to support our journeys as we navigate our first year of motherhood. The caliber of the bi-weekly guest speakers was impressive but I also loved the weeks when we mommies just dished about what was on our minds. K & R often introduced "talk topics" to get us thinking and to support our relationships with our littles, which I always found salient and pertinent to my developmental moment in mommiehood. My son and I have now graduated out as we are turning 1 year old in a few weeks; he will officially be a TODDLER and I will become the mother of one we call by THAT name. ;-) It's been a fearful, tearful, joyful, crazy love-filled, mind and soul opening year made exponentially better and more manageable with the fellowship of the wonderful hosts and mommies from MNaD. I attended Mama Needs a Drink with my daughter and loved it! Robyn and Kazia are sooo sweet and they make you feel so welcome. The group of parents were also nice and I've made some friends that I still keep in touch with. I like that they have guest speakers which a lot of other groups do not offer. On top of that they always provide refreshments (non alcoholic eventhough the name might make you think otherwise) and a yummy snack! First class is free so check it out for sure! read more

I can't say enough positive things about Mama Needs a Drink! As a new mom without family nearby or much of a community of other mothers, it was a saving grace during lonely and confusing times. The ritual of having a place to go every week with my baby to ask questions and be around other mothers in a safe and welcoming space was exactly what I needed during a momentous and powerful life change. Mama Needs a Drink was a lifeline for me during my first few months of motherhood. Alas, I am no longer able to attend now that I am back at work full time (meetings are on Fridays), but I enjoyed every meeting that I was able to attend. The hosts, Robyn and Kazia, are warm and personable, and I really enjoyed meeting other local mamas and learning more about different aspects of motherhood from the experts they brought in every other session. They always have delicious snacks and drinks for everyone and the group discussions are open and fun. There is no judgement in this group, which helps to facilitate great conversations, open dialogue, and the opportunity to learn. I went to about five meetings, and I would definitely recommend this group to first time moms. I really enjoyed the one night time activity (manis/pedis) where I got to know the moms while we were away from our kids. The leaders of the group were really lovely. read more
