Terry was great at personalizing my workout to my strength training goals. The short sessions were really convenient as well!

So I joined in Jan 2025 and this was my first experience working with a personal trainer. I like that the sessions are short and that I can feel the workout . My first month was brutal but once I got used to it, it became easier. Martin, Terrie and Evan are very in tune with my abilities and limitations. It took about 4 months before I really saw my body changing. They offer virtual sessions for when you are traveling but I haven't used it as of yet. Maybe at the end of the year I will. Overall I do recommend them especially for a beginner or someone with an injury that they are trying to overcome. I think the best thing about my workouts is that my brain fog has cleared up. read more

I've been going to the perfect work out for almost a year. At first, I was reluctant because of the cost but when I thought about how much I spend on junk and bad food, the cost was negligible compared to the health benefits. The office is clean, and they do their best to make sure that you are welcomed when you go into the training area. All of trainers that I have had have been excellent. They have inspired me and motivated me. I'm working with Taylor right now, and he's just so caring and wants me to have a successful experience each time. Let me say that I started and I was barely able to do bicep curls with 2 lb, and now I'm able to lift my groceries up seven steps to my house, I'm walking better, and I have a lot more energy. These guys are the best and I'm so glad that I am investing in my health with them. read more

After not doing any strength training since pre-pandemic, I could really tell the difference in my upper body strength. At 71, I knew I had to do something if I was going to keep my level of daily functioning at its best. A friend from Menlo had been recommending Perfect Workout for years , but I thought it was too expensive. An then I thought ,what price would I pay to be be strong and healthy in my senior years? I signed up for a year and although I have only attended 10 sesssions in 5 weeks, I can feel my strength returning. Had a free trial session with Justin and was very impressed. The place is clean and quiet which, combined with the slow steady movements that their system is all about, made the workout an almost meditative experience which was very different than the hyped up (and to me unpleasant) sensory stimulation at most gyms. Justin was sensitive to my concerns about injuring my body while it is coping with a chronic disease and was encouraging and supportive and clearly knows his stuff. I was surprised at how good I felt driving home and decided to stop off and walk round the lake before going home. The only complaint I have is that the company is very "shy" about revealing their pricing on their website so I'm here to tell you that if you do 2 sessions a week which is what they recommend, it will cost you between $60 and $75 per session depending on whether you sign up for a 4 or 12 month deal. Is that too much for a 20 minute session? I guess it depends on your income. Will you get the results you want for your money? I think the answer is yes. read more

Great program. It is only 20 minutes. I have been going for 9 months once a week, and the change has been incredible and noticeable. My arms were always stick-like with no definition or strength. No longer. I have visible muscles in my arms and strength. I am sure the results would be faster if I could afford 2x a week, but I really am impressed with my results with just once a week. I mainly train with Chris, but I have worked with almost everyone, and they are all outstanding. It is very private. Usually, I am the only one there. I would encourage everyone to give it a try. read more

I have never actually USED a gym membership before. (Did you notice I didn't say "buy"?). I hated the idea of a sweaty, stinky gym and feeling intimidated. TPW provides privacy and support (like a good bra, ). I am stronger, more confident and look better in my clothes. I feel good. Really good. Justin and Q have changed my life. This place is very close to my home and easy to get to. There is usually easy parking, at least when I go there. The workouts are great, designed for people who are not necessarily athletic. I don't have to wear special workout clothes. When I started, I had to use both hands to lift the coffeepot--now one hand works, and I have started losing weight. read more

Q in the Oakland studio is the absolute best!! I started working with him 6 months ago to get in shape for my wedding, and even though the wedding is over, I'm sticking with it because I love the results and I love working with Q! He is not only super knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor, but he completely tailors your workout to your specific goals. Whatever you want to focus on, he will build a workout around it. And if you don't know, he'll help you set goals. I always leave feeling better than when I came in, and would recommend Q to anyone looking for personal training. read more

Erik and Rosy are both great to work with! Started in December and already seeing results. Even though studio has closed due to state mandate to "shelter in place", I am continuing to use the techniques learned in my sessions and will take advantage of the virtual sessions offered as well as the "Fast Fitness at Home" booklet. I am thinking of this as my health insurance policy to prevent the loss of bone density and mobility that my mother experienced. read more

On June 1st, 2017, I was returning from a vacation where my bathing suit did not fit quite right. I had heard about the Perfect Workout and decided to give them a call. I was in their office on 6/3. The Perfect Workout turned out to be my Perfect Solution. I've been "working out" for the better part of my life. I think like most people, my goal was to get to the gym three to four times a week, I would spend an hour in total, 30 minutes of cardio followed by 30 minutes of lifting weights. I knew it was important to workout, but never felt like I was achieving great results, but at least I could check that off the list and feel good that I was doing something to stay healthy. Then came along the The Perfect Workout at the perfect time. I had changed jobs, and the first of this year I literally found myself with no time to keep with my routine gym schedule. That was six months ago, and it was also when I heard about The Perfect Workout. I kept hearing the radio advertisements and figured I would check it out. I met Daniela, a Perfect Workout trainer who took me though the routine, we talked about my goals, and how the program works. The most unbelievable but best part was, I only needed to commit 20 minutes 2 times a week. I figured why not give it a try. I had nothing to lose because I wasn't making it to the gym anyway, so I signed up for 6 months. Well folks, it works. Around the 3rd month I started to feel like I was really seeing results. And just this weekend, a friend of mine who hadn't seen me in about 6 months could not believe how my body had changed. Seriously, it works and I could not be happier with the results I have achieved. The other thing I have found to be very impressive is that every Perfect Workout trainer that I have worked with, understands and applies the core tenants of the program. So while I have my primary trainer Daniela who is awesome, if my schedule changes there are other trainers there who are just as dedicated and consistent in how they work out with you. After 6 months I'm hooked, and will be renewing for another 6 months too. I started the perfect workout about 3 years ago. I have had a bad back for years and have always known that core strength would help. I've done many programs for years, but this intrigued me because of the limited time commitment and the slow strength training aspect. Well, needless to say, three years later, I'm still here. I'm 63 years old and feel stronger than I've felt in many years. While I still have back issues I know so much more about how to carry myself and how my muscles can help carry me! I've even had another back surgery and was back to working out within about 3 weeks. The trainers are kind, patient and knowledgeable. I work with Chris and just love his humor, enthusiasm and the way he pushes me to do more (even though I say mean things to him during the workout!!) I am very happy with the Perfect Workout program. I started about two months ago. Between work and back problems, I had let my exercise program drop to *nothing* for several years, so I had some concerns about how I would feel doing strength training. But Daniela and Patrick have been great about working around my back and knee issues, making sure I use food form to avoid injury, and the one-on-one coaching pushes me to work harder than I ever would by myself. I am seeing improvement in my back and knee pain already, and I can fit the half hour it takes twice a week into my schedule pretty painlessly, too. I have been going to Performance Workout in Oakland twice a week for a month. So far, it's been terrific. I love my 2 trainers- they have a good sense of humor, and are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. They watch carefully during every session to make sure I'm working the machines correctly. I can feel how much more effective the weight work is when someone shows me the right way to do it. I get individual attention throughout my workout, and on each machine I'm timed to see how I'm doing compared to the previous session, and very nicely encouraged to do a little more than before. There's no yelling or pressure, just friendly coaching from a trainer who knows what he/she is doing. It's great knowing I'm going to improve and that I won't get injured from doing the work incorrectly. Being able to do a 20 minute workout is fantastic. It's been getting harder to find the time and energy to exercise. Knowing that I'm done in 20 minutes has helped me to show up and work hard while I'm there. Admittedly, cost is pretty high. But I'm getting so much out of it that I'm budgeting to make sure I can continue. To get effective individual coaching every session is wonderful. I recommend finding a way to make it happen, especially when like me you're of the, umm- older persuasion and really need the strength and toning that results from these sessions. It seemed like a big commitment to sign up for Perfect Workout but the payoff has been amazing. Although I have done weight training in the past as well as other exercise regimes, I always find ways to second-guess myself and make excuses not to do it. With a scheduled time to go to PW and Denise there to encourage and lead me, this has not happened for me with Perfect Workout. When I started there I weighed 15 pounds more than I do now and was dealing with some serious energy issues. Working out 20 minutes twice a week has added so much to my life -- stamina and strength, and the ability to stay actively involved with my young grandchildren. Now in my middle 70s, I love the feeling of fitness, that sense of wearing a nice snug-fitting suit of muscles under my skin that keeps me vibrant. Perfect Workout is based on a good business model as well as good science. They really do make it easy for you to get into shape. I like that it is a private studio, they have big fans so I don't get sweaty, the place is clean, there aren't other people there, usually, when I'm there. longstanding client here (once a week) and wife also (twice a week). intimate quiet surroundings with instructors really dedicated to what they are doing with you (on one-on-one basis only). they are very observant and concerned about any injuries or pains or anything else adverse that may develop during the training program. this type of repetitive weight work on the machines is something that i had never done b4 nor been exposed too....i am convinced that it is making me stronger since i can see the weights i am working with increase over time. also it happens to be very very convenient to where we live and that is a big plus for me as well. read more
