My dress 100% the most perfect and beautiful article of clothing I will ever own. When originally starting the search, it was very overwhelming to try to figure out what type of dress I would want. Both of my dress experiences were seamless in the salon. Yes, I said BOTH. I bought a dress (which I loved and thought was beautiful) but second guessed it for a solid two weeks after purchasing. Eventually, I told myself this is a common bride feeling and it will pass. Fast forward two months and I am sitting at my friends wedding.... she walks down the aisle in the same beautiful dress I recently purchased. Went to Persnickety Bride as my first dress shop to try on gowns. I was interested in a specific Justin Alexander Dress and Denise was helpful in ordering a sample and getting it in the store. We had not been able to get any other salon to help us with this, so we were thrilled. I scheduled my appointment the same weekend as the Justin Alexander trunk show. We drove over 3 hours to get to Persnickety and when we arrived the store was an absolute disaster. There were previously tried on dresses strewn about all over the floor, upside down, in the dressing rooms, there was trash and cardboard in the middle of the floor. The consultant needed to pick up a pile of dresses so we could even have a place to sit. I wish I had taken pictures but we were so shocked that I think we just simply did not think to. Unfortunately, the dress we had requested was still in the box, so it needed to be unpacked, and when it was, it was the wrong version of the dress. This is not entirely the shops fault as there were no others in stock, but I wished we had been told that they would not be able to get the exact dress I was looking for. When I expressed disappointment in the situation, I was met with really rude responses and a defensive tone, that made me immediately uncomfortable and wanting to leave. Can't believe we wasted 6 hours roundtrip! I am someone who can chalk things up to people having a bad day, or things just not being meant to be, but the overall experience was so bad that we could just not figure out how this shop had such positive reviews online! read more

I am sad to say I had such a bad experience here. Looking online seeing that this had such high rating, I thought it would be a good place to start. Little did I know, that was so wrong. I found online they were having a trunk sale and thought it would be a perfect time to come in. As I started trying dresses on, Denise came off as rude to start, especially to my family that I had come with me. She complained about being there too much and was very pushy to me buying a dress that first day. I hadn't even had the full dress shopping experience yet and she just wanted her money. Being a Covid bride, it has been a hard road and to start my dress shopping like this was heart breaking. As a bride, you should want to come in feeling amazing and wanting to buy the dress of your dreams, and Denise made me feel the complete opposite. Despite the rudeness, my first visit I fell in love with a dress but wanted to make sure I didn't jump the gun on such an expensive dress so I wanted to take the night to sleep on it and decide. Denise had offered a $100 off discount but made it very clear that if I came back that week that I could also get that $100 off. I had asked multiple times before leaving as well and she agreed to it. About two days later I came back in to try a couple more dresses on and she was very dismissive to any questions we had asked. She wasn't attentive to us and made me feel like a burden being there. I did not feel like a priority at all. Not only that but she also retracted her statement about the discount and said "she doesn't do discounts". I ended up leaving after 15 minutes because I was BOILING for multiple reasons. I can't even fathom that the owner of this place would even treat a bride that way. My review is long, so if you don't read it all, at least you'll see my note above that Denise and Persnickety is the way to go, but for more detail, read on. Before I get into exactly how and why Denise (as well as the rest of the staff at Persnickety) is so wonderful, let me say that I am a perfectionist, and therefore, I sometimes have difficulty finding service that meets my expectations. That said, Denise has gone MORE THAN ABOVE AND BEYOND what I could have expected in multiple areas! I found Persnickety while at one of those bridal expos. Before that, I was having the hardest time finding someone to make beautiful invitations for mine and my finance's wedding. Everyone told me that "nobody makes invitations in person anymore because everything is done online." Well, I wasn't happy about this because whenever I tried to make my invitations online, I either had to adjust the wording/format that I wanted to have a design I liked, or I had to have a design I hated in order to have the wording/format I liked. In other words, I could only pick one aspect I wanted; I couldn't have both. Therefore, when I saw Persnickety's table at the expo, I was SO RELIEVED! I had never seen so many huge binders filled with examples of people's wedding invitations! Plus, they were all different (which meant that I'd be able to customize my invitation--no more templates!)! I immediately booked an appointment. Oh, and I was also drawn to all of the gorgeous combs, clips, and accessories that were at the table, so I figured I'd check those out during my appointment with Denise, too. My first appointment was to discuss exactly what I wanted our wedding invitations to look like; right away I could tell that Denise knew her stuff! She had so many binders full of samples, and it did not take her long to help me nail down the kind of paper, colors, fonts, and style that we wanted. While Denise was quick to understand my wants, she took her time to listen and to get to know my fiancé and me (as well as my future mother-in-law and her cousin who also went with to the appointment). Our first appointment lasted about an hour and a half, and I can honestly say that we got more done in that time than I had in the month before the appointment as I tried to work on invitations on my own. We designed our invitations, response cards, separate rehearsal cards, and another party invitation. Not only did I get my invitations done with Persnickety, but I also purchased my veil and hair clip from the shop. I had no doubts that I'd find a hair accessory because there were so many beautiful options, but I had no idea that I'd find the veil that was perfect for me. I'd had a lot of trouble finding one at bridal chain stores and other chic boutiques, but right away Denise and one of her staff members pulled out several veils and helped me find the best one! They scrutinized photos of my dress and made several suggestions, and wouldn't you know, they found something that I love. The one I wanted didn't have a blusher, but Denise had one added to it, and it looks awesome! Oh, and the price was right, too, which was great since I, like many other brides, was not looking forward to spending hundreds of dollars on a piece of tule that I'd wear for a couple of hours. It's important to note that we've had about 4 appointments with Denise so far, and between each one, Denise has been excellent when it comes to communicating. If I send her questions via email, she responds quickly. I also appreciate that if she isn't sure about something, she says so, and she checks and then gets right back to me. When there was something my future mother-in-law needed edited with her shower invitations, Denise took the time to sit down with her and figure it all out. Every time I interact with Denise and the staff at Persnickety, it is obvious that I'm being well taken care of. Going to appointments there is fun, and Denise makes you feel like an old family friend. She legitimately cares about her clients and her work that she does for them all. It helps that she's a perfectionist; if you work with her, there's NO WAY that you'd get lazy, low quality products. Denise takes the time and puts in the extra effort to make sure that everything is perfect, and if you aren't exceptionally happy with it, she makes sure to fix it fast. I HIGHLY recommend Persnickety to anyone who needs wedding attire and/or any kind of printed materials for a wedding or any other event. If I could give Denise and Persnickety 1,000 stars, I would. I'm already getting other products made from her (not related to the wedding at all), and I will go to her every time I have some kind of stationary need or if I am looking for a quality fancy accessory. Where do I even start! The Persnickety Bride was my first bridal shop. Before I came in, I was given a personal lookbook link to favorite the dresses they had. Denise FaceTimed me the day of and we talked a bit without masks about my wedding style, venue, etc. It was quick, but made me feel like she cared about me and wanted to be prepared. And boy was she - they had all my favorited dresses out and ready for me to try! Every dress I tried, Denise was quick to clip me with various very strong clips that made each dress look like it fitted me perfectly. She asked what I liked and didn't like, and we refined my style with each new dress she pulled. For those concerned about COVID, we all wore masks, her darling daughter steamed/sanitized each dress after I was done considering it, and I was the only appointment at that time. Being an overanalyzer though, I wasn't prepared to buy a dress at my first stop, but not once did Denise pressure me! Instead, she spent time educating me on the different fabric qualities, the production times, and the designers, and cautioned me to ask other shops "this" and look out for "that." I went to 2 other shops, and from the weak binder clips that flew off the dress if I moved (making me feel insecure), to their unsolicited opinions and pressures to buy a dress that day, leaving each made me appreciate Denise even more. Let me tell you, I RAN back to Mama Denise!! She gives constructive criticism only on the dress itself if you ask ("this drop waist isn't as flattering as those natural waists"), points out all the beautiful intricacies of the dress, and gives you the space and time to think for yourself. She makes the process so fun that time just flies by. She's fiercely loyal to the bride, supporting your choices and emphasizing your happiness first and foremost. She's the only bridal vendor who has made me feel like a special, unique bride with my own vision, and not just another sale. I wish I could get married every year (to my same fiancé of course lol) just so I could spend more time trying dresses with Denise! I can't stop singing her praises and if you visit her, you'll feel the same. I couldn't be happier with my experience at the Persnickety Bride. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by the wonderful, bubbly owner - Denise. She was excited to know about me and was so welcoming to my mom and sister. Denise worked hard to listen to what I wanted, and gauge my reaction to dresses to help me find the perfect dress. With Denise's help, the experience was fun, exciting, and not the least bit stressful! Plus, we celebrated with some champagne once I said yes to the gown! I had visited several other dress shops and nothing compared to the Persnickety Bride. In addition to the amazing experience, the shop itself is gorgeous. It is beautifully lit, clean, and well decorated. There is a comfortable sitting area for your helpers and most importantly an outstanding selection of beautiful gowns. Denise and her team at The Persnickety Bride were absolutely amazing! From the moment I stepped into the store for my appointment, everyone was so personable and helpful. Out of the different places I went while looking for a dress, Denise had the largest selection of dresses in a wide variety of styles. All of the dresses that I liked prior to my appointment on the look book AND were in my price range were already pulled out for me to try on, which made trying on different dresses a lot less intimidating. Based on what I liked and didn't like, Denise then pointed me towards other dresses. She also was exceptionally helpful in talking through how different dresses could be changed/altered in whatever way I would need (fuller skirt, more A-line, etc.). Aside from the gorgeous selection of dresses, Denise's personality and investment in me finding exactly the right dress made my experience wonderful and I cannot wait to wear my dress on my wedding day! read more
