On 8/7/21 I went to the Persnickety Bride to begin my wedding dress search. I traveled over 4 hours from northern New Hampshire to come to this store because of the phenomenal reviews on The Knot. This was one of the best wedding-related decisions I have made thus far! The five top reasons I loved this bridal salon: 1) Denise is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, a fantastic listener, and a skilled stylist. 2) She worked within my budget. 3) She had me try on several different dresses styles, which allowed me to experiment with different fabrics, cuts, and other details. 4) The experience was personalized, intimate, and comfortable. 5) The store itself was clean, well organized, and had plenty of inventory to select from! I did NOT plan on purchasing my dress on the first day of wedding dress shopping. I typically don't make quick decisions, and I like to think about big purchases. I had selected two other bridal salons in southern CT to visit that day, as well, under the assumption I would keep looking. That was just not necessary! Before meeting with Denise, she sent me a link where I could "favorite" several dresses in my price-point. This allowed me to show her what I was looking for, but also get an idea of what I could expect to find within my budget. She selected dresses from this list as well as others she thought I would like. I wasn't entirely sure what style I wanted, and so it was helpful to have a stylist that could envision what the dress looks like. Each dress she selected had qualities and characteristics I loved. As I tried on each dress, she talked with me to understand what I liked and what I disliked about them. She was able to narrow down my style and eliminate/add elements of the dresses I loved. At other salons I went to, I was inundated with trying too many dresses. One salon had put me in dresses that all greatly exceeded my budget. Wedding dresses are naturally beautiful, and so it can be difficult to decide between gorgeous dresses. At the Persnickety Bride, Denise gave me several well-thought-out options to start with. She had me try on a decent selection, but just the right amount so they didn't all blur together. I didn't feel rushed, or that I was trying to repetitive dresses. Each style was different enough that I could reflect on the overall look and consider it as a unique option. My one recommendation is this: Be open to trying on different styles. Before shopping, my only criteria was that I wanted a dress with sleeves or some semblance of sleeves. As I tried on dresses, Denise's daughter found a gorgeous strapless dress for me to try on. Looking at it on the hanger, it had every quality I loved about the dresses I tried on. There you go. That was the dress. I knew as soon as I stepped into it that it was coming home with me that day! Denise (and her daughter!) has a vision. Because she LISTENS to you and understands you, she's able to make phenomenal selections. In the end, that's what made it a great experience. Everyone wants to feel heard, and especially brides trying to find the perfect dress for their day. I just did not know much about wedding dresses. Denise listened to what I liked and didn't like. I felt like in the short time I spent with her, she began to understand my personality. As a result, I walked away with a gorgeous dress that I ADORE well within my budget. Persnickety Review Without Persnickety Bride, I may have had to postpone my October 2020 wedding. After working closely with another salon in Connecticut to design a custom gown, and having my dream dress turn into a full-blown nightmare, I came across The Persnickety Bride online. With only three weeks left until my wedding, and no dress to wear, I had very little hope of finding a wedding gown. Immediately upon calling Persnickety my fears were allayed when Emily answered the phone and told me that they would be delighted to help me select the perfect gown. In fact, she emailed me a "look book" within minutes of our conversation, and she also scheduled an appointment for me for that very afternoon. Being able to look through the dresses online before my appointment was incredibly helpful and when I arrived at the salon, the dresses that I had selected online had been pulled and were ready for me. Both Emily and salon owner, Denise were incredibly warm, friendly, and accommodating. Within minutes I found a Justin Alexander gown that was absolutely gorgeous, but too large. Denise assured me that she could not only find the dress in my size, but have it in a matter of days. She also connected me with a seamstress who guaranteed to have the dress altered intime. After what had happened at the previous salon, I was skeptical that all of this was possible, but also hopeful because Denise and Emily had, thus far, delivered everything they promised (and more!). Within days of my ordering the dress, Denise called to let me know that it had arrived. She was able to get me in to try it on that day to try it on and it was perfect! She is my "Fairy Bridemother." She delivers what she says she will and more. In fact, when we had a last-minute change to the wedding -- the addition of a flower girl less than a week before our nuptials -- Denise was the first (and only) person I called. To say that she went out of her way to accommodate is a massive understatement. She means business! Dresses were selected via the telephone because I had no opportunity to go to the salon. She took my flower girl's measurements, sent me pictures of what she had available, and sent a dress within 24 hours! She is an absolute miracle-worker and a resolute task masker. In short, if it can be done, Denise will get it done. There's more than that, though. There is such a personal touch at her salon. So much so that I felt like a member of her family. Denise understands how important a wedding gown is and she ensures that you will feel beautiful on your wedding day. My experience at Persnickety was a wonderful one. If you like a personalized experience with someone who genuinely cares about you and your big day, The Persnickety Bride is the place to visit. From the moment I met Denise over FaceTime, I knew she would help me find my dress. Mask mandates were still in place at the time, so Denise made the time to call me personally the day before my appointment so we could meet and see each other's faces. This virtual meeting left me with a great first impression. She asked about me and my husband-to-be, as well as our love story. We connected immediately! Prior to our call, Denise sent me a look book so I could "like" dresses in advance - this helped her to know what I liked going into the appointment. When I arrived to the appointment, Denise was just as energetic and excited as she was over the phone. She was ready with the dresses I liked and then gave me honest and caring feedback when I tried them on. She also gave me suggestions for other dresses I may not have originally considered. She took the time and actually listened to me as I tried on dresses. Just before this appointment, I went to another larger shop, and while they were very nice, I left there feeling unheard, sad, and overwhelmed. I actually had to walk outside for fresh air, which is unlike me and not how I imagined dress shopping would go! Going to see Denise afterwards turned my whole day and dress shopping experience around. We laughed and smiled so much - she was truly a dream to work with. I was nervous that my wedding date was not far away, but Denise made sure I found a dress that would arrive in time - and it arrived in LESS THAN A MONTH! After the appointment, Denise was a great communicator and also helped me with seamstress recommendations. I also went back closer to the wedding date to purchase a GORGEOUS hair clip and earrings that were the perfect compliments to my dress. On the day of the wedding and whenever I share photos, everyone says the dress was made for me and was stunning. I am blessed to have found Denise to help me find the perfect dress! Even after the wedding, Denise has shown care and interest in me, which is a testament to her wonderful character. She truly cares about her brides and their stories, and is not just trying to make a sale. It is because of Denise that I looked and felt so beautiful on the most important day of my life. The Persnickety Bride has an absolutely stunning and amazing selection of designer dresses but it doesn't end just there. After I scheduled my appointment, I was followed up with an email to start my Lookbook, which gave Denise, the owner, an idea of what I was interested in before I even entered the store. She scheduled a Zoom meeting with me, to discuss what I was envisioning, she was interested in my venue, flowers, and colors. We talked about my fiancé and our story. She really just loves being involved and cares about your day! She showed me some dresses she pulled and some of the details of each dress. The morning of our Zoom meeting, a Lillian West dress was added to the Lookbook, Denise said they must have just received the shipment as she did not even see it yet. I told her that even though I just saw it, I love that dress. She said you got it, we'll make sure that dress is here for you. Scheduling this Zoom meeting was so important to Denise so she could see my smile and get to know me without my mask on. When I arrived we were greeted with hand sanitizer (so happy they took covid precautions seriously) and total excitement from Denise and her team. I tend to analyze and think while in a dress, Denise gave me all the time I needed and never rushed me. As it was my first day trying on dresses, I left The Persnickety Bride without saying yes but also left with an emptiness because I just knew the Lillian West dress I ultimately chose, was the one. So when I was ready to say yes, I called up the store to schedule another appointment to try it on one more time. One of my bridesmaids were able to attend but had work in the middle of the day, Denise said no problem and let me try it on as soon as they opened. She was so accommodating. I said yes to the dress and said yes to being a Persnickety Bride! I received a gift baggie and we popped champagne outside the store! Denise told me that when the first bride says yes to a new gown, they change the name of the gown in their inventory and it will forever be called by my name instead of a style number. How amazing! If I could put hundred Stars I would ! Denise and her team helped me so much picking out a dress for my daughters wedding . my mom passed away 2 weeks prior to having to order a dress . Persnickety is a hidden little gem behind a little shopping Center . When you enter the store it opens up to the latest hotties bridal fashion that you would be seeing if you were standing in any top bridal shop in New York City . One thing for sure is that you definitely would not find is the service and the heart and soul of the owner Denise trying to find the perfect dress for you . I am a 60 year old women who wants to look beautiful for my daughters wedding and the first time in life not having my mom approve my dress . I was so undecided and struggled to make my decision . Denise was so patient and kind to me with several phone calls dropping back into store . I even brought in dresses that I purchased on line for her to give her honest opinion . Well I finally picked my dress strapless teal dress that Denise help me pick out the fabric . i honestly thought teal my colour but I was nervous about my arms . I still ordered the dress , one week later was having a panic attack about my flabby arms and called Denise to see if they could add sleeves to my dress and without hesitation she said let me see what I can do ! so next day got back and the answer was yes sleeves added .most stores would have just said you placed your order already can't help you . But not Denise she go's above and way beyond for every customer. So honestly that is why I would put hundred Stars for this Bride Shop . my dress came in and it the most beautiful dress I will ever be wearing and I will probably be sleeping in it because I won't want to take it off . read more

I don't even know how to begin to explain the positive experience I had at Persnickety Bride with Denise and her staff. From my first interaction with Denise (via ZOOM), she immediately showed me her exuberant personality and enthusiasm for her brides and for making sure that despite COVID, that my dress buying experience would be positive and given all the excitement the occasion deserved. The shop maintained amazing COVID precautions, allowed for my Mom and sister to be with me and had a perfect and large selection for me to try. Denise's expertise helped me hone in on the right styles, fits and even encouraged me to look at bit out of the box. She has dresses for every price point. It was a thrill as Denise was nearly as excited when I found the perfect dress as we were. WHAT A FANTASTIC day for us all! A few months later, after changing our wedding date AGAIN, my fiancé and I decided to have a small "mini-monie" (as Denise affectionately calls small wedding ceremonies during COVID). I went back to the shop to pick up my original wedding dress. I shared my saga with Denise upon which she asked me, "what are you going to wear?". When I told her I would find something simple online, she was NOT having it! We had a wonderful experience purchasing a dress from Denise at the Persnickety Bride. I had the opportunity to look through all of the different selections available at the salon before my appointment. They were organized so that I could select the style and price point to narrow down my search. Following my selections, I had a pre-appointment video call with Denise to chat about my vision and my likes and dislikes. It was really nice to put a name to a face, especially during COVID times and masks preventing us from seeing the whole picture. I felt excited and comfortable following our phone call for the next day when our in-person appointment was scheduled for. We walked into the salon and all of my pre-selected dresses were waiting for me in the dressing room. Denise also pulled a few others that she thought would fit my style and vision. Her dresses were not run-of-the-mill dresses, and I say that in the best way! They were different than any other dresses I typically see, and being a wedding planner I have seen many, many dresses! I wanted something truly unique and that I hadn't seen before, which I figured would be a tall task. To my surprise, we quickly narrowed things down to two favorites, and I was able to take the dresses outside the shop in front of a mirror to safely see the whole picture. I'm back home for the holidays from San Francisco and I thought I was going to pop into The Persnickety Bride, try on a few dresses and leave with an idea of what style and shape dress I would want to look for moving forward. Little did I know I would fall in love with not one but two dresses! Denis is AMAZING, she made looking for a dress fun, easy and stressless. Ahead of my appointment Denis called me so that we could FaceTime and get to know each other a little better. She wanted to know my story and see my face without a mask. I felt like family! Look no further than The Persnickety Bride ladies! Denise and her team are top notch... Denise is spunky, fun, and loving; I felt like family from the moment I walked in the door. Both of my dress experiences were seamless in the salon. Yes, I said BOTH. I bought a dress (which I loved and thought was beautiful) but second guessed it for a solid two weeks after purchasing. Eventually, I told myself this is a common bride feeling and it will pass. Fast forward two months and I am sitting at my friends wedding.... she walks down the aisle in the same beautiful dress I recently purchased. I knew this was my sign, the dress was not meant to be mine. I reached out to Denise (in a panic) and explained the situation.. I ended up in the salon three days later in another dress I loved. Which I now know today was meant for me. Denise made me feel confident, beautiful and reduced my stress level significantly. It was such a blessing finding Persnicky bride! They were a perfect match for us and our stationary! Denise and staff are so sweet and professional. They know exactly what brides want and inform brides on information that a new bride like myself learns from! The process was effortless. They are genuine. So heartfelt and took the time to sit down with us as long as we needed! They are very experienced so it did not take long at all. The shop is adorable. There's so much they offer. Hard to leave walking by the cutest purses jewelry and dresses in her store. They take pride in their work and they really love their brides and family of the brides so much. Once our invitations were done the only part we were sad about was not seeing Denise and Emily! They have the best positive and upbeat personalities that ease the stressors that come with wedding planning! We felt 100% comfortable and like a weight was lifted off our shoulders once Denise stepped in and helped planned our invites! Not a worry in the world with such an expert! Our invitations are so beautiful. Also with covid-19 she went out of her way to help me put together my invitations. She used any form of technology that was helpful while in quarantine to emails, zoom, FaceTime, step by step pictures of the invitations and how they should be put together. Beyond grateful. I found my dream dress online after weeks and weeks of saving screen shots of dresses with beautiful elements, but not *quite* perfect for me. When I finally found The One, I went about hunting it down. The first shop I contacted, which was most local to me, gave me the typical "we don't have that EXACT dress in the shop, but we will find something you love!!" and I was immediately disheartened. I already found what I loved! So I called The Persnickety Bride, and they quickly went about trying to get the sample in for a fitting. The Denise called me to let me know we had to get even more creative, since the gown I wanted wasn't available in my size to order in time for my wedding 3.5 months away. Together, she worked with me to see if the manufacturer would sell the sample (they would), and then to ensure she had the PERFECT size sample for me to try on and purchase (requesting my measurements in advance of the fitting). All of this was done in FOUR DAYS! I walked in on a Friday morning with my soon to be mother-in-law, tried on exactly one dress, THE dress, it was even more perfect than I had imagined, and walked out to enjoy the remainder of the day the new owner of my absolute dream dress! I honestly cannot say enough good things about The Persnickety Bride. I honestly loved this store and Denise (the owner) THAT MUCH. I had a strong feeling I'd find the right dress there the moment I walked in the door. I'd already been to a couple of bridal stores, but nothing fully "clicked" for me before Persnickety. Plenty of dresses had looked good and other owners were also nice, but no owner compares to Denise. Her store is beautiful and filled with incredible quality gowns, but it really was the kind of service she gives that I've never gotten anywhere else (bridal or otherwise). She set me up with an online lookbook before my appointment so I could identify dresses I like (however many or few you want!) and then she had those ready for me when I arrived. She took the time to have a quick zoom pre-meeting with me so we could talk about my wedding and she could really understand me, my style, and my wedding. She clearly cares, and that's what makes her so effective at helping connect clients with their dress. She is genuinely excited for her brides, and she really knows how to help match them with dresses, be supportive of their vision, and give useful AND honest comments (but only when they're wanted). It was my first time shopping for my wedding dress, so I really only expected to figure out what style I liked best. However, by the fifth dress it was obvious I had found the one - a beautifully romantic Justin Alexander fit and flare from the Persnickety Bride. My mom and future mother-in-law spotted it in the store, but Denise knew it was out of my initial price range. I really appreciated her transparency and was grateful that she didn't pressure me to try it on, but to appease the moms, I agreed to do so anyways. Of course, it was perfect and not like anything I thought I would've picked for myself. Both moms were in tears when I came out of the dressing room - it was a bonding moment, topped off with some bubbly. I recently picked up my dress and am amazed as to how perfectly it fits! Denise did an impeccable job with taking the measurements and because of that, I need very minimal adjustments. She and her staff were so wonderful with us and Denise's enthusiastic personality made the entire experience painless and so enjoyable. I especially love her non-salesy approach - there's enough pressure to go around when it comes to planning a wedding, so not having the added stress of a pushy salesperson is all I could have hoped for. Love, Love, Love the Basix evening gown that I purchased from Denise and her team. I have been searching online for this dress for almost a year, and when I saw it come up in response to my search inquiry, I was super excited! Being that I am in Georgia, and the dress boutique is located in CT, I was a little apprehensive about making such a big purchase. I sent Denise and her team an email and voicemail Sunday afternoon and first thing Monday morning, Denise returned my call and provided ALL the details and information I could ever request. In addition, she texted me live photos of the dress. I also looked around the website and read other reviews, which were all glowing. The ordering process was easily conducted via phone and my dress arrived in less than 2-days! Denise was very engaging from start to finish, and her assistant in the shop that handled the purchase was equally engaging and pleasant. Even though I was not in person, I felt that I had the same personalized service she would give her in-person clients. In sum, I highly recommend purchasing if you are hesitant about making an online/out of state purchase from The Persnickety Bride! WOW WOW WOW I don't know where to start on a review for Denise & her team. I shopped for my gown all over CT, NY and even a handful of stores in Texas. I must have been to at least 20 shops and tried on hundreds of wedding dresses. I'm very indecisive and was HATING the wedding dress shopping process... until I walked into Persnickety Bride! The shop is a beautiful boutique with the most gorgeous dresses (which her and her team keep very well maintained) from a variety of designers all with different styles. Denise and her team are incredible - they are patient and helpful throughout the whole process and don't try to pressure you (like many other shops I went into). They have great ideas on how to tweak any dress and make it EXACTLY what you are looking for - and not to mention FUN! My mom, my sister and I had so much fun when we were at Persnickety! Because we had so much fun finding a dress at Persnickety, we also did our stationary - the invitations went out a few weeks ago and I can't count how many texts/phone calls my mom and I have gotten commenting on how beautiful the invitations are! Denise at the Persnickety Bride is an absolute GEM! She is bubbly, she is vivacious, and she is passionate about finding you the best gown to fit your figure and personality. I tried on about 10 gowns and then found The Dress, and she was as excited as my Mom and I when we found it. The shop feels intimate and we were the only people in the shop for our appointment. Additionally, I wanted to try and find the same lace from my dress to make my veil and Denise and her assistant Emily followed up multiple times with the vendor to source these and get pricing for different options. I didn't end up going that route for my veil but I really appreciated their prompt responses and help following up. I'd highly recommend Denise and her beautiful store if you're looking for a personal and relaxed experience shopping for your gown. I also wanted to thank Denise for her approach and body positivity vibes! I was anxious about finding a dress that would feel like "me" and that I wouldn't feel self conscious in, and honey let me tell you, Denise is 1000% supportive and positive for you. I came to this store recently with all of my ladies to find my wedding dress! I was met with quality service, a welcoming environment and an impressive selection. The mother-daughter, family dynamic made me feel comfortable immediately during the "wedding dress" process that, let's be realistic, can be a little stressful. Denise helped me to come to a decision for myself (while also considering the opinions and views of my mother and bridal party), but mostly for myself, the dress that was meant for me. When something about one dress wasn't quite what I was looking for they quickly found me something in alignment with my vision and budget. I felt so supported, and both of these ladies helped me feel comfortable and confident making a decision on a dress that reflects my personality and compliments me in all the right ways. Out of the different places I went while looking for a dress, Denise had the largest selection of dresses in a wide variety of styles. All of the dresses that I liked prior to my appointment on the look book AND were in my price range were already pulled out for me to try on, which made trying on different dresses a lot less intimidating. Based on what I liked and didn't like, Denise then pointed me towards other dresses. She also was exceptionally helpful in talking through how different dresses could be changed/altered in whatever way I would need (fuller skirt, more A-line, etc.).
