Unfortunately, this is the first place I went to try on wedding dresses. It was an awful experience. The shop is small and there aren't a lot of dresses to begin with. Three women greeted us and I told them it was my first time shopping, and that I wanted a lace dress with some kind of sleeves. They scoffed at wanting sleeves, and told me I shouldn't worry about that because it would be hard to find. Gee, thanks! My Mom helped me into 3 dresses, all being too small. I don't know what sample sizes they get and perhaps it is beyond their control, but beware of this. One of the dresses was a fit and flair and at least gave me an idea of the style on me. It was okay but not great. Two women abruptly came in and were tugging and adjusting the dress and handing me belts to try, not listening to the fact that I didn't like this dress much at all! On top of that, one woman comments: "It almost fits. Maybe you can lose some weight before next year." Are you f*cking serious?! Listen, I'm a size 12 and not ever going to be skinny, even if I lose a few lbs. I have a large chest and hips, and that's just how I'm built. Like every bride, I hope to get in better shape before my wedding...but you do not ever say something like this to a woman trying on wedding gowns! I took the dress off, left the store, and burst into tears. I was so upset and emotional - it was just terrible. Nobody should ever treat someone that way. I can't recommend this store AT ALL. After I left, I went to Wedding Embassy in Oakville and they were beyond kind and helpful, and with a much bigger selection. They squeezed me in for an appointment and took the time to help me find suitable styles and explained that there are many things they can do to add sleeves or more coverage to the dress. read more

A bit seedy. Staff is very hands-off. Dresses are not as reasonably priced as I would expect for such a low-quality store (decor, ambiance, etc). And the photos of past brides displayed are circa 1983. Shudder. read more

Yuck. I came here with my mom and mother in law to look for MOB dresses. The woman helping us wasn't the worst I've ever dealt with, but certainly wasn't friendly either. She made some really rude remarks to my mother in law ("You won't be able to fit in it but go ahead and try") and then asked "so when are you going to order it?" before we left. Psht, we're not! The place is tiny and I saw 3 brides come in for appointments within 15 minutes of each other. Not well organized or managed. I'll never understand the pushy attitude at some bridal shops but they lost our business because of it. read more

I don't get all the negative reviews... this is a mom and pop sort of place, and those are the best. I live in Boston (my fiance is from Fairfield) and we popped in here over thanksgiving weekend. I went to a bunch of stores in Boston, and all were so expensive for what you received. Sure you got great ambiance on Newbury Street, but you also got an absurd price tag. Do a little digging here, and you can find your dress. The women are helpful and attentive, clucking away like hens in the best possible way. The only down side is they seem a little lax on contacting you when your dress comes in and when you need to come for a fitting. However, I have no fears because I know two women (both with excellent taste) that bought their wedding gowns here and they looked stunning and were ready for the big day. I'm excited for my dress and can't wait. read more

I had a wonderful experience with Marie's bridal. I bought my dress back in October. It was the easiest process ever.. The ladies at Marie's had excellent suggestions, were friendly and accommodating unlike other ct bridal shoppes. I highly recommend this bridal shop to all of my family and friends. After no luck at the "big box" bridal shops, I came to Marie's for my wedding dress, and I am so glad I did. (I later found out they originated in Bridgeport before relocating to Fairfield and my grandmother got her wedding dress from them over 50 years ago.) The ladies working there made me feel amazing and calm. I told them the vision I wanted for my wedding dress and they immediately started pulling dresses for me to try on. They were more than patient with me as I tried on a handful of dresses (probably around 8 or 9) -- I am very indecisive. They were not pushy at all, the whole experience was very comfortable. At the end of my first visit I decided on my top 3 dresses. I returned about a week later to try on the 3 dresses again and narrowed down my decision to 1 choice. Every time I walked in for a fitting after that the ladies were so welcoming and kind. I never had any issues with overlapping appointments of other brides. They also helped me pick out a veil that helped compliment my wedding dress perfectly. I am so happy I chose Marie's to get my wedding dress over a chain bridal store. A perfect little "mom and pop" type shop for all of your bridal needs. read more

this was the first place i went to try on wedding dresses, so far I've been to 3 all together and this was by far my favorite. very friendly staff, not pushy at all. very patient and pulled what they thought would be good and let us also go through the racks. not a huge selection, but great prices and good variety. this store doesn't work on commission so they are not pushy, like every place I've been since. now that i think I've got my style picked out, i will definitely be returning here to re try on dresses and I'd want to give them my business over any other store. read more

I have not decided if this is where we are definitely purchasing the bridesmaid dresses, but found Marie to be helpful and kind to myself and my friends. She allowed the girls to try on potential dresses and even take photographs, without leaving a deposit. This is a rarity! I may decide on a boutique that will offer me a better price for the dresses (especially since we are purchasing them together), but could not have been happier with how we were treated and the suggestions from Marie. I am also contemplating having the alterations on my gown done there as well. read more

This is the one and only bridal place to go to in all of CT. The staff is wonderful very warm and helpful. My daughter had found her wedding dress in NYC in a large impersonal place that would not guarantee that we would have the dress and alterations in time for her wedding (7 months away). At Marie's they ordered the dress and had it altered perfectly with 2 months to spare. Each time we went for a fitting the staff made it a joyous experience. We had a modesty piece made and a lot of exacting bustling due to a 4 ft. train--all perfect. Georgia is a genius with alterations. Laurie is a wonderful salesperson and Marie is a delight. The experience was stress free and easy and I highly recommend this bridal shop. read more

This store was recommended to me by a friend since two of her friends had purchased their wedding dresses here. I feel you may need to manage your expectations a bit if you have been to other stores first, especially any in Darien or Westport. This is a family owned business located in a shopping mall. It has all of the wedding dresses on the left, bridesmaids/fitting rooms on the right and alterations area in the back. I felt the space was a tad small, but if you look past that they do have some beautiful gowns are a very reasonable price for the budget conscious bride. The owners are very nice and they love what they do. I did get that bold family member vibe because they were brutally honest with me about my choices. I appreciated that since I went alone, but I think some people may take it the wrong way. They helped take photos for me, and at no point did I feel rushed or pressured to purchase. In regards to someone who mentioned sizing, their sample dress sizing is no different than anywhere else I went. Most dresses I tried on were sizes 12 or 14. I would definitely put Marie's on your list of shops if you are dress shopping, and in particular if your budget is around the 2k mark or lower. read more

I am absolutely appauled with this wedding store. My mom and I went here to and chose a dress for her. They took her measurements, ordered the dress in the size that matched her measurements and she placed a deposit. When the dress arrived we went to pick it up and NOT ONLY was it the wrong color, but it was too small. They told my mom that in the contract they don't gaurantee colors of the dresses ordered because of the dyes used. The dress we ordered was gold with green undertone, the dress we got champagne. Two completely different colors. Then they went to measure her waiste and turns out she was actually 2 inches smaller than when she initially went in to try on the dress, so why was the dress still TOO SMALL. They explained to her that she still had to pay for the dress because of the contract. If I was there I would have left the dress and not paid but because my mom is a great person inside and out she paid and is stuck with this dress that is not at all what she had ordered. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE customer service, you ought to be ashamed at the terrible service you provide. And please update your store and staff. read more
