I met and spoke with Beth, Jaz and Faith...all were helpful, shared info and suggestions. Then I met the man Darrell...The Groomer. He did a fantastic job and Beau was in a great mood as well. I haven't had the best experience with one of their groomers. The rest of the staff is actually very nice. I dropped my dog off at 8:30, and was greeted by Nicole another person at the front desk. The groomer, Alarria, hadn't arrived yet. When I dropped him off I asked them to check and see if he was excessively matted in any areas so that I could try to get any of the matting out and also so I knew what to expect. They called the groomer and described what was going on and let me know that she said she could handle it , I even brought them the specific shampoo the groomer recommended for detangling. The groomer texted me at 10 and said " Hey This is Alarria from The Pet Set , So I've examined Hendrix and todays total is going to be $235 . $135 for the bath, services , and haircut . $100 for the dematting process". I said ok sounds good. At 1:30 she texted me letting me know his belly and sides of face needed to be shaven due to matting. I said ok, and said I just want it to look appropriate. I just didn't want it to look bad. At 5:30 I texted and asked if she was still grooming him and she said yes. And then at 6 PM she texted me this "Hey so , After working on getting off all the Matts safety off it took a lot more work than originally expected. I had to get other groomers to help me hold and demat him through the whole service so he wouldn't move and so we were able to get him finished in a timely manner. With that being said today his price would be $285 . Payments today will be made Via Cash , Cashapp , Zelle , and / or Venmo ." I'm not sure what she meant by getting him done in a timely manner because he had been there for 10 hours. And she was trying to charge me and additional $50 on top of the initial $100 dematting fee. She was still working on his face when I arrived and you could tell she was rushing. She also told me that I was going to have to put in work to get the Matts out of his face which but I had agreed to having it shaved down. So she went back and shaved it down. Even after him being there for 10 hours you can tell parts of his cut was rushed. His ears are uneven and the hair around his privates is not cut properly. I expressed my concern with her charging me an additional $50 on top of the fees I already agreed to and she got mad and said I'm always difficult and that she refuses to ever groom my dog again. This was my second time coming. I never got upset and remained calm although her attitude was really bad. They also told me I could only pay via Zelle or cash app directly to Alerria which I thought was weird but I paid the initial agreed upon amount of $235. I think the should have set dematting prices on their website and they should also limit the number of dogs they take at a time so that there isn't such a lengthy wait to get your dog back and they can pay more attention to the details of their work. Unfortunately I had a bad experience with Pet Set. Despite it being recommended and it's high rating on Yelp, I had an anomaly of an experience. We arrived for our 9AM grooming appointment. We were told that typically grooms take 4-5 hour window and we have 1 hour to pick up after the dog is done. Customer service was friendly and really knowledgeable. I got a text at around 11.30AM that my dog was done. He looked fine at first glance at the store but after getting him home we noticed a few things. He has a razor burn near the private area that is still irritated a couple days later. There is a patch of a bald spot towards the back of his private area that (from walking behind him) makes him appear as if he has two butts. Lastly the cut on the face was really close and not carefully done. This is evident in that his eye lashes were also cut and uneven. Unfortunate that we didn't have the same experience as everyone else. I didn't catch the name of the groomer since I heard everyone is pretty good. For reference I have a poodle mix and maybe that's not a common cut here. This review is only for the grooming service. The store front people were really nice and I could see this being a good store otherwise. read more

Had such a pleasant experience with their phone customer service. Making an appointment was smooth and flawless. I love how the staff, particularly the groomer, was SOO loving, attentive, gently, friendly to my nervous poodle. I was nervous about other dogs' experiences at other groomers. However, I was so relieved and reassured when my poodle emerged looking civilized and fluffy, and had so much happy energy. They forgot the bandana and some eye gunk on her face. I also forgot to ask for her flea collar back. All these were easily fixed. There's only a few parking spots in front but I believe there are more in the back (I don't know how to access it though). The price is reasonable for an 8 lb poodle! They were fair and respected my wishes for a basic service. When Ellie grows out her hair, I'll be interested to see what shapes they can create for her! Update after 5 the visit... The last time I came here, though, my dog suffered severe razor burn.. so I'm changing my rating from 5 to 3. My friend's dog coincidentally had a negative experience within a week with the same groomer. read more

FOR YOUR PET HEALTH, DO NOT COME!!!I have to say they are really good at passing the buck. After grooming and before I took my cat back to home, I saw he's dropping tears heavily and with liquid green eye boogers. And the eye on the left is hard to open. I never saw that happened before. I thought it's not a big deal - maybe just too upset for taking a shower, and it will get better soon, so I take him back to home. In these 3 days, my cat has been dropping tears heavily all day and come with a huge amount of eye boogers. I have to clean his eyes very frequently these days. His right eye seems hard to open then the other. Then I started to think he might get eye infection after that grooming. So I called the grooming shop for help. No surprise - they didn't not want to take any responsibility at all. Recipient pushed the call to the manager and the manager pushed the call to groomer, and groomer insisted is not their problem. What's more ridiculous is the groomer said my cat just allergic to other things like food, or environment... He is a indoor cat, and I treated him the same foods every day before and after grooming... I really hate myself these days of spending over $130 to this place, and my cat got eye infections. I'll take him to the vet to see what's happening. But one thing i know is I will NEVER come to this place again!!! read more

Lexy came back to me with an open wound - John, the groomer, tried to cover it up and Ashley, the Manager, would not apologize for any wrongdoing, as it seems the groomers operate on their own independently of Pet Set. Thats a fancy way of saying 'No Liability. Dont talk to us. Talknto the Groomer that F'd up.' Im completely amazed at the handling of my 15yr old Maltese and wont be going back. Customer Service? Are you kidding me. The best part is they claimed Lexy somehow made the 3/4 in wound on her own after the grooming, as they watched the video feed and their was no indication of a cut. Our little doggo gets such good treatment here! We bring her monthly for her bath, hygiene, nails, etc. They are the best deal in town, which is surprising for midtown. We are moving to a different neighborhood soon, but I am strongly considering still making the drive up to midtown regardless. I don't know where else you can get as much done for your dog for only $37. And they all know her and say hi to her if they see her on the street, which is a nice personal touch. read more

I took my Wheaton Terrier to the Pet Set in Midtown for grooming. The groomer did an amazing job with dog. She look beautiful. I asked for the breeders cut and he did so good. I dropped her off at 9 AM and was completed by 1 PM. My puppy seemed to be very happy and was very friendly toward the groomer. I will definitely take her back. There are not a lot of groomers that can due a Wheaton Terrier breeders cut. He did great with the face, the skirt, the legs and the beard. The front desk personal was friendly and the groomer was very friendly and asked a lot of questions. Even came outside to make sure I was happy with my dog's cut. read more

I take these reviews very seriously as I understand how they impact businesses especially small ones. I have been taking my dog to Pet Set since last year. The last 2 visits have prompted this review. The first couple were fine, not great re: the grooming i.e. following the directive on how to cut his hair... but nothing terrible either. The last 2 visits went like this: couple months ago I made the early appt at 8am due to my work schedule to drop my dog off. I was expecting to speak to the groomer in person to explain how I wanted his hair cut, and he was not there. He actually showed up several hours later and was very rude with me when he called to ask about cut directions. My dog is 13 and becomes anxious at groomers and vets where he has to wait so long, hence my frustration that the groomer was tardy to work. I believe wholeheartedly he took his frustration and rudeness out on my dog, who is not a biter. He was terrified when I picked him up shaking uncontrollably and they charged me a $15 fee for him biting the groomer. I said I no longer wanted my dog groomer by this man. Over a month ago I made an appt for the other groomer who has cut his hair before, a woman. Again I made an early appt per my work schedule (9:00 this time) and this groomer was also late. My dog again waited several hours before the groomer started on him. Now- this groomer did not have the same experience with him biting (this was specific to the prior groomer) and she did a decent job on the cut. However I just found out today that apparently when I expressed my displeasure with Pet Set over back to back late groomers and my dog having to wait much longer at the shop, she notified the manager today after I booked my next appt that she would no longer be willing to groom my dog. This was not discussed at that time. I was never rude nor disrespectful to anyone. I simply asked that if someone was going to not show up on time I'd rather book with someone else or at a different time to avoid having my senior dog wait and become exceedingly anxious. I was called back by the manager and he canceled my appt, and said that Pet Set would no longer be willing to groom my dog at all. Apparently the woman groomer has a newborn baby and this is why she was late to work that day. How exactly was I supposed to know that? And why is that my responsibility anyway? The manager should have notified me and given me the option to either reschedule or have another groomer take my dog. It's not MY business what personal reasons someone has for not showing up to work on time. That is between that person and their employer. My frustration was with this being the second time in a row my dog had to wait, and the communication and options to me as the customer were poor. I am in business myself and I have never experienced anything like this before in terms of customer service or relationship management. I will add that I also tipped every single one of groomers here every time despite the issues. I'm very disappointed that this is the path this business has chosen to take. I was expecting base-level communication and courtesy as a customer and for the groomers to treat my pet with respect and care that is customary of this kind of business. read more

The customer service was good and was accommodating with the appointment. The haircut was ok. The groomer left most of the hairs behind my dogs ears and back as if trimmed by a lawn mower. The Pet Set has been keeping my "Fur Baby" looking good for years. I actually started out at the Briarcliff location, but began coming to Midtown because it was more convenient. The shop itself is super cute and also super "compact"...it's small, ok :-). It's located next to Campagnolo, near the corner of 10th and Piedmont. Parking is scarce, although I've never personally had an issue...just a bit tight getting In/Out, so understand that going in. In the beginning, I had a groomer, Patrick, whom I thought was fantastic and he took phenomenal care of my aging Pup. Sadly, Patrick moved away and my experience has been a bit inconsistent since then with the groomers: The reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is for 2 primary reasons: 1) My pooch is getting older and has small, benign tumors that require great care to be taken when cutting his hair. I ensured this information is in our file and reiterate when I drop my pooch off. The last groomer nicked one of the tumors and it was irritated for days. Luckily, a regimen of neosporin fixed it right up. 2) I'm consistent with the same hair cut every time, but for some reason the last hair cut was too short and my pooch's tail was not left with the poofy hair at the end. Unfortunately, there is no way to fix that...just have to let the hair grow back. In spite of the above, which is surely irksome, I try to be fair and understand that sometimes things happen. I have done business with this establishment and trust my pet's care to them, so I will not "jump ship" yet. Also, these incidents don't erase the years of good service and beautiful grooms I have received at The Pet Set. One thing I greatly appreciate with The Pet Set is that they are always willing to rectify any issues or concerns I've had, so that's great. They are also super accommodating when I need a last minute appointment, which always helps! Last things to know, the prices aren't cheap, but The Pet Set sends cool offers and discounts to your email, so definitely take advantage of that if you like bargains. There are also some snazzy pet accessories in the shop, if you want something Extra cute for your Fur Baby. I haven't indulged yet, but I do like looking at all the cute stuff . read more

Horrible services all around I would not recommend anybody bring there pet to this location. Three hours after dropping off my dog I called to see if where my dog was in his process. They claimed he had not been seen at all and that there were 3 dogs ahead of him. His estimated wait time was at least four more hours I did not want my dog to be locked up in a kennel for 7 plus hours so within 10 mins of the phone call I was at the location to pick up my dog and had to wait about 5-10 mins for them to bring him out. They claimed they bathed him even though his chest and belly area had obviously not been properly washed. They wanted to initially charge me over $50 for a bad service that I'm assuming was rushed in 10mins. The manager on site did not want to speak to me at all and just threatened to call the police for theft of service. I asked to speak to someone above her and was eventually led to who I was told was the owner Sway. He would not listen to any complaints and finally cursed at my wife and I over the phone and threaten us with the police. I have never seen a establishment with such poor service. read more

Finally...a quality Cat Grooming place in ATL :)! It must be hard to groom a full haired Persian cat, but Pet Set II gets it done and gets the job done well. Carl does a great job with my beloved Persian who appears to be 20 lbs larger than his true size before he is groomed. He has gorgeous fur, but he sheds like crazy as the weather warms up. In the past, I went to Pet Smart and had to leave my pet there at least 4-5 hours while he was surrounded by barking dogs. At times, he would be sitting there for 2+ hours before they even got to his grooming and he would be hyperventilating in his cage the whole time. My cat always came out of Pet Smart with very uneven fur and it would take 2 days for him to normalize after all the chaos he experienced. The Pet Smart employees also didn't seem trained in grooming cats. Luckily, I found the Pet Set II closeby in Midtown and I feel at peace knowing that I will get a much higher quality experience for the same cost as Pet Smart. They don't nickel and dime you. They take care of everything in one shot for a set price. The staff are very nice and accomodating. The location is right near Piedmont Park (behind where NikiMotos and Nonna Mia's) used to be and it has a true neighborhood feel. I highly recommend the Pet Set II. read more

I absolutely love this place. I have taken my older poodle (Carmen) in since we moved to Atlanta two years ago (Patrick was awesome with her) and now I have a poodle puppy as well (Bradley). Today I brought them both in and they were in bad shape. We are #teamnatural in our house but Carmen was #teammatted and that's not sexy nor befitting her very posh attitude. Bradley looked like a rescue-I was ashamed. Anyway, Leon is the new(ish?) groomer there and he asked me what I would like-they keep records but he wanted to confirm. This afternoon I picked them up and they looked so very cute! Leon did an awesome job, exactly what I wanted- even putting bows in Carmen's hair and tying a little bandana around Bradley's neck. This place hires independent contractors as groomers, therefore, they take no blame for poor services rendered. I was referred here by my pets groomer solely because I wanted my dogs tail dyed. I called and asked for--Corey and upon speaking he sounded very polite and knowledgeable and he was available, so I brought my dog in. Upon arrival, I was greeted very nicely by staff and felt comfortable leaving my dog. I explained to Corey over the phone what I wanted and also in person prior to him starting the work. My dog was to get a wash, scissor trim, ear cleaning, anal gland extraction etc. and her tail dyed. The service I mentioned (minus the dye) is what I get at her normal groomer. He advised that she had two mats by her ear and said he'll take them out for no charge. I dropped my dog off at 1:30pm Saturday and she was not ready for pick-up until 5. When she came back the only noticeable difference was her pink tail! She was not cut at all! After closer inspection, at home I saw that she had a nip on her leg as if there was an accident when trimming her naisl becuase that was the only part cut on her. I called the next morning and spoke with Shayla and advise of my displeasure, she was empathetic and she said the manager Ashley would call me in the morning. Later that day Corey the groomer called and went back and forth saying "no place in Atlanta cuts dogs for $35"... (mind you I explained to him prior TWICE what I wanted and my dogs groomer is in West Midtown) but I digress. After speaking with Corey I was completely turned off and I did not want to return for the "free wash" Shayla and Corey offered ( it was Coreys call to give a re-do of the service and he refused). I called the following day and I mention to have the owner call me since Shayla was now "out of town" and I received no call from the owner either. Moral of the story, I wouldn't trust them with my pet, the groomer lacked customer service, oversold and underwhelmed. I do recommend Puddle of Pooch in West Midtown. read more

I have been a costumer at The PetSet for over 10 years and had always had a great experience. I'm not entirely sure if there is new management or ownership but today's experience was truly appalling. The new groomer Corey was very rude while I was dropping my dog off. He completely disregarded my instructions and the notes from the previous groomer. My dogs face was a little matted so I understood that the area might had to be a little shorter than the usual however Corey took it upon himself to completely shave my dog after I specifically asked him not to. Upon pick up, I was shocked to see me dog. To make matters worse the the manager didn't take any ownership. He didn't even attempt to mediate the situation and completely disregarded my concerns. I have never in over ten years of experience with this establishment been so upset, dissatisfied and disappointed. I truly hope that this was a one time mishap and not the new norm. I wish a zero star rating was available. I can't imagine a worse grooming in the 6 years I have owned my Wheaten Terrier. Unable to get an appointment with our usual groomer, we took a chance with The Pet Set WHAT A MISTAKE!! Despite showing them pictures of what we wanted, they shaved my dog and cut off most of her facial fur. The cut was not anything close to what was requested or discussed . My dog handler picked her up and when I arrived home from work to see her I asked had he paid for this atrocity. Unfortunately he had. We've been taking our dogs here for grooming for years. But recently the groomers have been awful. No matter what length we ask for, they give them a close shave. They consistently shave off our dog's whiskers. And this week one of our dogs came back from there with cuts on his legs!! read more

We have been taking our miniature schnauzer "Maggie" here since 2017. She loves "Rebeka" ! Every time we pull into the parking lot, Maggie, as any schnauzer becomes very verbal with her excitement to see "Beka" and get her bath and grooming. They have always done a great job with Maggie and to date have never had any issues with any grooming injuries or other things. Their staff is friendly and get to know who you are as an owner. The only downfall is they are more expensive than most of the groomers in town so be prepared to pay especially since prices are going up $3 more dollars for a cut in March. UPDATE: I would NOT recommend The Pet Set to my worst enemy. Quality of service and grooming has fallen off. Your dog runs the risk of being physically hurt here, mine was. They pulled my dog hair and SEVERELY scratched her. I will NEVER come here again. The groomers are NOT good. It's NOT worth it. I wish they would have kept the price. ** GROOMING: After visiting a couple of other places I can safely say that their grooming is ok. Is it the best ever? hmmm, probably not. When it comes to specific cuts, for your breed, especially if you want something "show-like" then they're lackluster. It's usually a little choppy and "rush job like" as someone else stated, borderline hack job at times to be honest... they do a cute job with very basic even clips or shaves. They always seem to fair well with a standard puppy clip. SERVICE: The younger short guy sometimes is a little sassy and snotty. The woman, with accent, is very nice. The new groomer is nice, but rough with dogs, especially ones with longer hair. Customer service is not as good anymore which is why I have decided to move on to a new groomer. RETAIL STORE/DECOR: I love the store, they probably have the best variety of items-- from your usual top brands like Blue Buffalo and Nylabone to specialty items. They also have the loveliest array of gourmet treats that changes week to month... I've seen everything there from Georgia Tech dog cookies, chocolate dog treats, and cupcakes. Some things, like the toys, are way overpriced. But a lot of the food items are right on par with other stores. If they accepted manufacturer coupons I'd likely buy my dog food from here. The decor/setup is very cute, you feel like you're in a super cute pet store/boutique when you're there. SUMMARY: Decent boutique. You can usually call and get an appointment on the same day as long as its early in the morning (which is also awesome). Overall, I'd say try other groomers in addition to this one. John is the best! He has been doing my pup since he came to this location and he is incredible! He always listens and grooms my baby perfectly. Wonderful schnauzer haircut-always perfect. Maggie always looks incredible-I highly recommend John. You won't be sorry.
