It is hard to capture exactly how important The Pet Wellness Clinic has been in the lives of my dogs over the last six years. A few years ago, one of my dogs was very sick; we were sure he was near the end of his life. Dr. Meisen went above and beyond to diagnose my dog with Cushing's Disease. He developed a treatment plan that worked wonders and gave my dog a new lease on life. Keeping up with the medications and tests he needed to make sure he was having no adverse effects was challenging. But the veterinarians, vet techs, and all other staff, helped to make sure my dog was happy and healthy. Before The Pet Wellness Clinic was recommended to me, I tried out two other veterinarian offices in town. Neither of them came close in care, cost, or convenience. Scheduling appointments is a breeze - you can do it over the phone, email, or through their app. They are open until 8pm weekdays, which is incredibly convenient for people who work during the day. Their prices are very reasonable. They offer a discount for bringing multiple pets together for their wellness exams and even have a rewards program. I just had the most upsetting experience at the Pet Wellness Clinic that I had to share. I will never take my dogs back there, and highly recommend others don't either. My dog tore a toenail very low down, and I treated it with antibiotic ointment, bandaged it with gauze, and brought him in to be checked after 2 days as he was still limping. Dr. Meisen took off the dressing, inspected the toe which was fine, just healing (not infected), and then he re-bandaged it with cotton, gauze, and some medical-type tape. I paid for the office visit and the bandaging as a separate charge. Ok fine. When we got home, I walked the dog directly into the backyard and let him stay out for about 5 minutes to potty. When he came to the backdoor, the entire new bandage was gone except for the ring of tape halfway up his leg. I called the Pet Wellness Clinic right away, and the gal said to bring him back and they'd re-bandage it. I assumed perhaps they'd use a sturdier or more efficient bandage, or give me some kind of additional instructions as the first one hadn't held. This time they took the dog into the back, and I was not allowed to see the doctor. The assistant then came out and said "we've re-bandaged it, and the doctor says the dog likely ripped it off himself, so you need to have your dog wear a plastic collar so he can't mess with it." OK, that's fine. I have one of those at home. Though it seemed to me very likely that the bandage ripped on twigs or a tree or whatever as my dog was chasing squirrels in the yard - bottom line, it didn't suffice. But again, fine. Then the assistant tells me "THAT WILL BE $25." I'm sorry, what??? Yep, because we had to re-bandage it, that will be another $25 for the new bandage he says. I tell him immediately that that is unacceptable to me. The bandage I was given the first time did not suffice, I am certainly not paying $25 to drive back in and have them fix it. Plus, when I called, I was NOT told "we'll re-do it, but there will be another sizable charge" or I would have declined. As it turns out, the way I had bandaged it at home initially was the same as what the doctor had done pretty much, and I had the supplies. I asked the assistant, "I'm sorry, does Dr. Meisen know about this?" and he said that yes, Dr. Meisen was the one telling him to charge me. I then said "Then I'd like to speak directly to Dr.Meisen please, I'm not OK with this." To which he said Dr. Meisen was handling another dog emergency and was not available to talk to me. OK fine (of course he should handle an emergency). So I said "that's fine, please have him call me and we'll discuss this extra charge - I'm available today, Monday, whatever" To which he said THEY WOULD NOT RELEASE MY DOG TO ME UNLESS I PAID THE $25!!! So now they are holding my dog hostage?!?!?! This is beyond unacceptable and likely not even legal! I said "Well I refuse to pay it until I speak with the doctor, and you're saying the doctor isn't available now, isn't willing to call me later, and you're going to hold my dog hostage in the back, so where does that leave us?!?" Suffice it to say, fighting back tears of frustration, I sat in the waiting room until the doctor could spare a few minutes and come talk to me. All told, he eventually told me the bandage would be "no charge" as I expressed how awful the experience had been, and how displeased I was, especially at the refusal of the assistant to return my dog to me over $25 when I live down the street, they have my address and my credit card info on file, and this could be discussed later. What was warranted from the doctor, honestly, was "I'm so sorry the bandage didn't hold, my bad, let me re-do it in a more sturdy way, and let's add the use of a plastic collar to be extra safe... And especially, I'm so sorry to trouble you that you had to drive all the way back here for this correction." It's sad how it's all about the almighty dollar and that service providers these days have lost track of what serving really means. (And now they lost even more money losing our business). read more

This was our vet. They were the sweetest people over there and helpful in a way that was above and beyond. The price if an appointment or service was cheap and affordable, but they still did a great job and were knowledgeable and thorough. On top of that, we were new dog owners and if we called them to ask for helpful advice they were there for us. Which dog food should we try if our current one isn't working? Is this eye goop something we should come in for? What vaccines and shots do recommend on top of the city requirements? As far as veterinarian care goes, they are about average.. Nothing absolutely special about Pet Wellness Clinic. I had a somewhat bitter experience with them. I'll start with what they did well: 1) The call reminders and phone checkups are nice 2) The facility is nice 3) The tall, male vet with black hair was very friendly and informative (and so forth, lol) 4) Most of their vet techs are extremely friendly and kind. (This somewhat contrasts the veterinarians-- read below) But that's where the list of good thing ends, and the bad things begin: 1) They are insanely pushy for their new pet hotel and puppy classes. Every employee in the place mentioned it to me, and some sounded like it was a forced sales type thing. I'm not a fan of a vet that pushes their unnecessary services on people. 2) They overcharged for their heartworm medications. Many people I know who go there received free 'puppy kits' until their dog breached the 25 lb cut off. For me, I was never offered one and then charged $10 per dose for the same medication I could purchase elsewhere for around $65 for a years worth of it. 3) The female veterinarian with curly brown hair nearly always has a moody tone and seems like she's just there to get paid and do whatever needs done. Hardly the type of person I'd like caring for my puppy's health. 4) They tend to criticize my puppy's training even though they are A) not there for that, and B) not certified/qualified to give advice and C) clearly trying to push their classes on me. Though I may be contradicting some of the other reviews here, I must say I feel like Pet Wellness overcharges for their vaccinations and other services, although they claim they are fairly priced. They tend to nickle and dime their customers in my opinion. Tl;Dr there are better vets in town, especially for the price. And a tip for all you owners: try to buy your pets meds elsewhere (online?) rather than shell out double at Pet Wellness read more

This review is long overdue, as we have been going to the Pet Wellness Clinic with our dog for 6 years. We have gotten to know this clinic very well and we trust these vets implicitly. The clinic is run by the 2 hardest working vets (Dr. Mike and Dr. Brenda) I've ever met. They are hands-on and always trying to provide the best possible service and care for their clients and their patients and they are very up-to-date on the most current procedures and research. We have been going to Pet Wellness Clinic for several years, even though it's a bit of a drive for us. We started up there with a rescue dog we were taking care of and their quality and professionalism impressed us enough to frequently make the drive from Denver. Their prices are reasonable (significantly less than our previous Denver vet) and it's nice that they have evening "urgent care" hours - even though the urgent care vets may not be the same quality they'll have access to the records and the "regular" vets will have access to the after hours records. They really care about the pets and are happy to refer to the college or a specialist when appropriate. This helped one of our dogs with an issue that our previous vet frankly mis-treated. They may not be perfect, but they're good enough to make an hour drive each way over anyone we've found in Denver. read more

I was in search of a vet when I moved to CO in 2013. I did my research and based on the reviews I felt like the Pet Wellness team was going to be a good fit. Nice and helpful staff and doctors, a late night emergency service, close to my house and now an awesome place to board my fur buddies when I have to leave town. The techs are super great at answering questions and following up. The whole staff really work their tails off and clearly care for my pets like they're theirs. I've worked most closely with Dr Meisen and I am so thankful for his knowledge, advice, compassion and his willingness to tell me all my options without making me feel like he's trying to bring in revenue by only telling me about the high cost options. And Dr's Brenda and Mike appear to have their hearts and souls invested in their practice. I see them there ALL the time I come in and lately that's been a lot unfortunately. I've recommended Pet Wellness to both my mom and my brother's family and I highly recommend them to others, too. read more

After about two years of this being our vet, I have made the painful decision to find a new vet. One of my dogs has a serious immune system disorder. The staff at PWC did a great job bringing him back from the brink of death and getting him stabilized. Since then, I've experienced very unprofessional exchanges from one doctor who left messages and talked to me about very personal, non vet-related, topics. Recently, this vet has refused to refill my dog's maintenance meds and has left me with a dog with a serious condition who is now at risk. I am left to wonder if their interest is more in money and compliance from the client than caring for animals. read more

I spend summers in Colorado, but live near San Francisco the rest of the year (I'm a teacher). I have a young poodle and saw a flash in his eyes and learned that the Pet Wellness Clinic was holding a CERF eye clinic, so I signed up (about a 1.75 hour drive from where I live in Colorado). We went, needed a microchip, too (after the one from VIP Petcare couldn't be found). I found them professional, knowledgeable, and helpful and that was before I called them explaining I'd lost the tag that I'd gotten that very day for the microchip. They said they'd call if they found it. Sure enough, more than a week later someone found it in the parking lot and the folks at the Pet Wellness Clinic called me to let me know and they mailed it to me, since I wasn't very close by to pick it up. Pet Wellness clinic has been our vet for well over 15 years and during that time we have received what I would consider excellent care. When Dr. Priscilla Dressen, the original owner, sold the practice to Dr. Mike and Dr. Brenda I was concerned if they would be as good as Dr. Priscilla Dressen. Most of my experience has been with Dr. Mike and I always appreciated his knowledgeable and practical advice. Dr. Brenda also attended to our cat when it came time to euthanize him. It was the most caring experience in that situation I have ever encountered. Over the years they have cared for our aging cat and two aging dogs. I have never felt pressured to do more than I wanted to do. The staff has always been kind and helpful as well, Del who has since retired and Jade are two that have stood out, but there are others as well. I think our animals have gotten excellent care at Pet Wellness Clinic and I highly recommend this clinic. read more

AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME! I truly do not have enough good things to say about The Pet Wellness Clinic. I am SO thankful to have found this place, three years ago. The people here are AMAZING! From the vets to the vet techs, everyone is happy, helpful and passionate about what they do. The crew does a great job of making you feel at home and "part of the family." I love when I give my name to set up a visit and the CVT says (without looking at a chart), "How is Peg doing!? She was so sweet when she was in last week!" It's reassuring to know that they care for my kitty as an individual and not just another pet on a long patient list. The personal touch is spot on! I always feel comfortable and at ease if I have to leave kitty at the vet all day. Dr. Meisen Mok is, hands down, one of the most outstanding health professionals I've ever met. He is THE BEST. I haven't had experiences with the other vets here, but if you're looking for a recommendation, please heed my advice and choose Dr. Meisen Mok! He is very informed and insanely intelligent! He is thorough during his exams and explains everything in a very clear and understandable manner. He is personable and kind, and I really enjoy watching him work. He is wonderful at incorporating the owner in their pet's wellness- he presents options for a "course of action" and then seeks the owner's feedback to create the perfect plan. My kitty was recently diagnosed with cancer, and Dr. Meisen has called me every-other day (LITERALLY) to check up on her. I mean, how many other vets do that!? Like I said- AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! I've never had a problem getting in touch with the staff at the office. Setting up appointments is easy as can be. And the office itself is clean, organized and inviting. Thank you, Pet Wellness Clinic for being so consistent and welcoming through all of my kitty's health problems. A horrifying experience. After being asked to bring in all my paperwork from previous vet, was told during the visit they did not have time, would have to review it later, and would not only make copies of my paperwork, but would get it themselves from the previous vet. Was told needed a test done, but when I said it had just been done, the paperwork was grabbed out of my hand, thumbed through, and the vet said she didn't see it. I reviewed my paperwork that night and called my previous vet the next day to find out it had been done. This was a $300 charge. I was also charged $50 to retrieve $50 of meds from the back. When I asked that half of that charge be removed, I was informed I could get the meds for free at Meijer. I told them I would not return, to receive a letter from the founder scolding me and telling me my account has been deactivated and believes I would be happier at another vet. read more

Unfortunately, I went here hoping to find high quality pet care and was largely disappointed. The staff is very high pressure sales driven. They got much more sales driven when they added the pool to the pet boarding facility...guess they have to pay for it somehow. They put the value of a dollar before the quality of life for a living animal. If you want a vet that only cares about how much money they can take from you for unnecessary procedures for your pet then you have found the place. I do NOT recommend this vet hospital! They are very unprofessional. My main take away was they are unethical and their main concern is money not the pets well-being. Speaking from 6 years of being a vet tech and working with many veterinarians, this is not where you want to send your animal. There were numerous charges that were uncalled for and that was not what was agreed upon when there were explicit instructions. I have never encountered this kind of ripoff in veterinary medicine and am truly saddened with this experience. read more

After having posted a review a few years ago about this vet -after a referral decision by Dr. Mike was made that wound up having us to end one of our dog's lives sooner then needed, I am glad to see that since then, besides the satisfied reviews posted, that there have been enough others that have given PWC a low rating in respect to their profit over passion philosophy of care. Sad, but true for any of us pet owners that have experienced this from this vet re: our pet family members. I would say in this vet's early years, it was the opposite. Since they moved to the new bldg., put in day care/boarding, have a pool, and offer other services, and have their staff, as some have expressed., "selling" whatever they can of their other servies when a client is in their facility - well again- profit over passion. Sad. Find another vet, we have , and are happy for it with the new dog we got a couple of years ago. Do your homework- because there are others in F.C. that are profit over passion too. I discovered PWC because they provide veterinary services for an animal rescue group that I fostered for. I witnessed their competence, caring and willingness to discount for the fosters' significant and complicated medical needs. They provide clear medical info regarding diagnosis, prognosis and treatment options and answered my questions with patience. I've been a client for 4+ years. PWC cares for our 150 lb biting dog and helped us put down our family dog in a sensitive, unrushed, family-driven experience. Dr Mike provided an objective medical analysis supporting the difficult decision, when asked. The MD's are educated in the latest vet methodologies while being respectful and open-minded to holistic approaches. I've brought in giant breed dogs that, due to fostering, are "unknown" (ie: scared, abused, may bite, pee, etc). There is always adequate staffing for unpredictable situations. In 4 years, there has been minimal staff turnover, which is a great indicator of a positive work environment. read more

I've been working with this office for 7 years, and they have always been responsive, fair, and attentive. I've worked mostly with the primary owners, Dr. Brenda and Mike. They've been very patient about my dog's issues as well as my constant concerns over them. I have only used another vet once when it was an urgent matter-- the vet was affiliated with my daycare-- and I was sorry I did, because they overcharged in comparison to Pet Wellness and it was so much more that taking the day off from work and going to Pet Wellness would have been cheaper! I also really like their new daycare and evening care (Four Paws). They are the only place I know that has evening "daycare" where my dog actually gets attention instead of just being boarded. I read the other reviews and can honestly say that I don't know how much medications should cost, but I am usually given very long, thorough consultations for a very fair price, and the vets are very involved and knowledgeable. In short, I am positive they are not just there for the paycheck. I started with them because they gave a free visit if you adopted a dog, and though I live on the north end of town, I have never thought of changing to a closer vet because they treat my dog like family. read more
