From the exterior, the establishment boasts a wonderfully classic, vintage aesthetic. Stepping inside reveals a uniquely styled interior featuring an extraordinarily impressive array of fine spirits and luxury beverages. The service was top-tier and delightfully attentive from the moment we arrived our host graciously poured drinks for the three of us to begin our meal. I opted for a Blackberry Shrub, which was expertly mixed, incredibly refreshing, and executed to perfection, while my assistant selected her own beverage. For our dining selections, I ordered the Tamale Boudin balls, while my assistant chose the Ribeye. When the dishes arrived at the table, they were nothing short of exceptional boasting a rich, authentic, homemade style that was utterly delicious and deeply satisfying in every respect. What makes Downtown Grille such a remarkable find is that despite its elevated flavors, impeccable service, and sophisticated bar program, it remains delightfully reasonable. Full marks for a marvelous dining experience I shall most certainly be returning!

I was kind of worried since it's a nice looking place surrounded by businesses that appear to be permanently closed. However, a crowd picked up closer to 8, so I can tell it's a local favorite. Our server was amazing! Didn't have to ask for refills, condiments or anything. She handled us really well and answered any questions we had. I ordered one of the daily specials, blackened redfish. Menu said it came on orzo, which I don't like so I subbed for the long grain rice. I added a side of broccolini. Food came out hot and in a reasonable amount of time. My fish, with that Cajun cream sauce, melted in my mouth! I didn't like the rice, as it was gummy but the broccolini was cooked as if a gold medal was the prize at the end of the night! My only misgiving about it was I wanted more of it!

Just the right amount of seasoning to feel a little kick in your mouth but smooth and delectable going down. It's too good to stuff myself with meal. A dish like this is made to be enjoyed for one more day. Just imagine, once it sits overnight the seasonings will mesh together even more and...hummm some good eating. Whoever was the chef today; kudos to you for a job well done. This was worth the hard work I put in today at work along with bearing the hot temperatures today. I know there are unbelievers who won't believe that I didn't eat it all in one sitting. Here is another shot of what I'm saving for tomorrow. Okay, I did finish off the fried okra; too good to let stay. Listen up, please, come a little closer, just a little more. I'm going to whisper to select individuals even though I know you will share; lol. I went to this restaurant "BackDraft," and ordered something I "would not" order because I'm not one of those people who has an affinity for them. If they are at a family cookout and my nephew, who is the family chef, cooks them on the grill, I might eat one or two. Okay, wait for it, chargrilled oysters. I know some are "clutching their pearls," repeating "say it's not so". Yes, I'm one of those people. However, when I went into the restaurant, I wasn't really hungry but knew that after a long day I had to put something substantial in my stomach for the evening. So, I had a taste for some soup. I ordered the "Gumbo," and the chef "Shawn" (with his innocent demeanor) happened to be walking towards the front counter, and the front desk staff asked him to describe the Gumbo and how he made it. I was intrigued after hearing how he cooked it, thinking it was just going to be some type of tomato-based soup. So, I ordered a cup. Then I kept looking at the "Jacked-Up Oysters," which Shawn guaranteed that I would love. So, I ordered a half-dozen, thinking that I was wasting my money. I took it to go because again I was tired and wanted to get back to the hotel. Let me tell you, the Gumbo was absolutely tantalizing with just the right amount of spice to let you know you are tasting something special. It was nothing as I had anticipated. Also, for the person who is not a real "oyster person," I ate those oysters like there was no tomorrow; like they were the last oysters on earth or like I stole something. Okay, I would NEVER steal anything; not my thing. Life is worth living to the fullest and experiencing it. Chef Shawn, you did your thing, "sir". I can't wait to come back to try other dishes there while I'm traveling. So, walk, skip, hop, run, jog, drive, bike, take the bus, or if you are in the area, please stop by here and have your taste buds awakened. The staff is super friendly and informative about the menu, and the atmosphere is welcoming, with reasonable prices.

My waitress kept checking on me too while I was here to see if I needed anything. This restaurant is down town Cleveland. So, you might have to park down the street for the restaurant. Therefore, you might have to walk like I did.

The issue comes to place is when nobody ever checked in with us after receiving our food, nobody offered refills, nobody came to give us our check after eating. We waited 5-10 minutes after we were finished until I had to get up and go to the front desk and ask for our check which is ridiculous. We've eaten there a few times and the guy at the front desk is ALWAYS ON HIS PHONE which I feel like should be addressed because if he wasn't nose deep in his phone he would have realized that we were done with our meal. Also with as much money as you spend on your food, they can't even update the sign on the outside as it's not even visible/faded and it leaves an impression as if they don't care about curb appeal. The parking lot is full of trash and they should have someone out there cleaning that up. Also inside there is tons of dust on the black vents going throughout the ceiling which is unsanitary. I will not recommended going there in the future when we decide to have a night out.

The service was prompt and attentive to my sweet tea requirements, and the meal with tip still came in under $20. What more could you ask for??

The restaurant appears to be in an old time country store despite the depot name. The kind of store that has long ago disappeared. Upon walking in, our party of six was greeted, seated and immediately we felt appreciate for our patronage. We ordered onion rings and grilled oysters... the onion rings were huge and heavily battered and if you like them that way.... then get them. I prefer thinly sliced and lighter batter. Rings were served with what looked like comeback sauce but oddly had no flavor to the sauce . The oysters were different, not bad but we all agreed we would try something different next time... I think we were expecting the normal garlic/butter/parmesan cheese preparation. Half of us upgraded our salad to the spinach bacon salad. It was total worth it and delicious! Three in the party for prime rib and thought it was the best they had. The servings were generous. Two of us had filets...they were very good! I had the redfish which was also good and very rich! We shared a crème brûlée for the table as we were all so full...the sugar was a bit over torched but the brûlée under it was excellent! Over all the food was fantastic but what really set the evening over the top was the live entertainment! Needless to say we will be back. If you are with in driving distance or passing through, then this place is worth going out of the way for!

The restaurant was set up to handle small to large groups of people. Now the food. I can't review everything because our party was so big I didn't get feedback on all the dishes. The lobster ragoon was the best thing I had. The filling was creamy and the lobster gave a nice flavor compared to the crab that the dish is generally made with. The miso soup had a different flavor that I couldn't quite place. I was not a fan. I tried 2 sushi rolls: sweet potato and shrimp tempura. Both had a brown colored sauce on them that was similar to eel sauce which I usually like but this sauce was not good. The steak that the hubs had was overcooked and tough. The side salad was really good. The rice was savory and fresh. When we eat out in Mississippi, I don't think I would choose Yamato again. It just wasn't that good. The service is what saved the star rating.
