We recently went to eat at Crawdads with a party of 11. We specifically went to celebrate a special occasion. We were told they couldn't serve us anything but bottled beer, glasses of wine and cans of High Noons due to a wedding reception they were having. Which made NO sense. Had we know this, we would have gone somewhere else. Later we found out they had lost their liquor license. For the future, be honest and tell the truth. This reflects so poorly on your establishment. Our service was incredibly slow and for the $500 we spent, we were not impressed. Okay let me preface by saying it's one of the better restaurants in the area in terms of nicer food. However, there is much lacking in this restaurant's presentation. It is a pretty pricy place and we always come around thanksgiving and get a steak. Their steaks are pretty great! We got the shrimp dip and it was just lacking in presentation. There's no garnish on anything in this restaurant!!!! When you pay high prices for high quality food the presentation is necessary. The salad had the SMALLEST amount of cheese on each it was actually embarrassing! The potato doesn't come with butter you put your own on and they give you fake butter packets! Lol! It's comical! Then you ask for sour cream and it comes in a plastic container and literally has a teaspoon in it! They act so cheap about it! The shrimp dip needs some cheese and chives on top! At fine dining, these little things create the experience that makes you want to spend the price. I've worked in the restaurant industry all my life and I know when a man is in charge of the presentation. It typically lacks! Take pride in your food! We had a large group of 20 people and the waitress Mary did very well, but you could tell that for a Saturday night, during Black Friday weekend, it should and could have been more packed! Really good food, but the name is a bit misleading. Don't expect a lot of Cajun food choices. Be aware that entrees do not include sides. A bit disappointed in the lack of French bread or cornbread. No Cajun or southern food should be served without it. Only bland toast available if you ask for it. Great service although my waiter couldn't answer any of my questions about the animal mounts. If I could give a minus 5 star rating, I would! Ambiance, the early hunting lodge motif is well executed with dusty spider-web covered animal "trophies" decorating the walls. The place feels like it hasn't been thoroughly cleaned in years and the toilets are a violation of the sanitary code. In addition, the design of the building, or lack thereof, makes it impossible to carry on a conversation. Abysmal service from arrogant teenagers made any evaluation of food quality impossible. Service moved with the speed of a glacier causing our orders to be served over a thirty minute period. Food for a table should be served at the same time. For the price I expect fresh butter and sour cream, not packets like a fast-food restaurant. Our person "taking care of us" as she said, gets an F. She was inattentive and came with a healthy case of bad attitude. Then there is the hostess/cashier...When we finally got our check I was astonished that a "mandatory" 20% gratuity was included. Given the horrible service I told the teenager at the counter that I wouldn't pay it, given our cold food and poor service. I asked to speak to the manager who NEVER made an appearance after repeated requests. No apologies were made, only the excuse that there was a wedding party being served at the same time. Clearly, there was a decision made to maximize profit and bring in necessary staff to serve all the guests. This is another example of GREED driving a business. Finally, I started to pay the bill, less gratuity, and was told that if I did pay the total bill the police would be called. This totally unacceptable behavior. Love so much about Crawdad's! I have been a customer from the early days when they sold crawdads from a small spot on old hwy 61. They have modernized and even offer sushi that is very innovative. There steaks are the best for miles and miles. Also, they host live music making this small town a destination for many parties. The best restaurant that I've been to so far in the Delta! Went here last night for my girlfriend's birthday, and it was amazing. I didn't have a reservation so I called and the manager was very friendly and accommodating; even though they had a packed house he assured me that he could fit us in and sure enough a nice secluded two-top booth was waiting for us when we arrived. The service was excellent - Ann was our server and she was on point. Full bar, and the bartender made me an excellent old-fashioned, and my girlfriend had a solid Margarita. The appetizers that we ordered were grilled oysters - topped with brown sugar, bacon, black-pepper roasted jalapeño slice, parmesean, and Sriracha - which were delicious. We also had a crab cake - served with pickled vegetables and remoulade - which was very good. I ordered an 8oz filet cooked medium rare, and it was mouth watering. It was wrapped in bacon and melted in my mouth. My side was a stuffed potato (similar to a twice-baked) and it was delicious. She ordered Salmon, which was displayed nice over lettuce, tomato, feta, red onion, and artichokes, with a red wine vinaigrette. The ONLY 2 complaints would be 1. No bread served before the meal - but this was ok as each entrée was served with a nice crispy piece of grilled Tuscan bread. And 2. The butter and sour cream that I asked for with my potato were packets (not fresh), but this did not take anything away from my meal. The bill was very pricey, but expected and worth it. Finally, the atmosphere was perfect. It had the feel of a hunting lodge, with a plethora of stuffed animals, antlers, reptiles, etc, and many pictures on the walls of who I assume is the owner and his sons with their hunting prizes. The booth that we sat at in a somewhat secluded room was great for a date night, and very romantic. They had other secluded rooms that looked perfect for larger parties. After dinner we went to the bar for another drink, which certainly was bumping for a Saturday night in the Delta. There was live music (a duo on guitars and singing), and a large, warm crowd (which seemed mostly local, but very welcoming) socializing in the large bar area. High expectations--not met. The building looks nice when you first walk in, but quickly you realize it's too big for its staff to run properly. A trip to the restroom immediately sounds the alarm that the cleanliness is subpar. This is further accentuated when you sit down at a table and find the tacky red plastic cover sticky, and chewing gum on the wall. Worst of all, the paper menu is disgusting. Stains, food particles, grease, and obvious signs of age make you not even want to touch it, much less turn the page. At this point I'm ready to bolt, but it's not convenient. So the horror continues and the first round of drinks served in antiquated plastic cups further solidifies the lackluster experience. Sweet tea that is so sweet it's undrinkable is merely par for the course. But wait. There's more. The fried dill pickles arrive and they are soggy and dripping with oil. Basically inedible the waiter's only response to the questioning of such a disgusting dish is that the chef doesn't always send the pickles through the apparatus that is supposed to drain the excess oil like he is supposed to. Awesome, I'm so glad he decided to slack off tonight. The rest of the meal followed in similar fashion, all the while we couldn't wait to get out of there. Unfortunately, the suffering wasn't left behind in Merigold. Everyone ended up with upset stomachs within a couple hours. Two stars instead of one for the nice building and crawfish that wasn't terrible. But we won't be back. And won't recommend. Sad, seems like the place has a lot of potential. read more

A Delta Dinner for 10. Hidden between all of the Merigold Red Light cameras, watch yourself, this is a Delta gem. We started with a handful of appetizers, from crawfish to cheese-dip they were all wonderful. Several ribeyes were ordered, a few NY strips, a catfish and my Shrimp Sultana. The waitress advised going with the Shrimp Sultana over Shrimp & Grits, because you can make that at home. The Shrimp Sultana was this taste sensation, shrimp (duh), crawfish, veggies and an amazing cream sauce. Have no fear, plenty of shrimp & crawfish. We drove over an hour to come here for the steak. The restaurant is in a nice little out of the way area. It's filled with mounted animals. The atmosphere is pretty family oriented. My husband is from Cleveland so we have been to Crawdad's a couple of times before, many years ago. Went this evening and upon arrival, it was pretty much empty. We were scared, and for good reason. The staff was friendly and our server was great, but the food wasn't. The steaks were fine. I ordered the salmon and asked for medium temp. The salmon came out well done, was very dry and heavily peppered. Everything else was average at best. We had a good time but the food could use some work. read more

Terrible service. They cancelled a party we booked months in advance, on very short notice. They promised to make the food free of charge, deliver it and provide utensils to make up for it. They not only didn't deliver the food on time, it was an hour late and we had to go get it ourselves! No utensils, and it was cold. If you want real service, go see Cole at Delta Meat Market. He saved our party when Crawdads tried their best to ruin it. read more

This is a don't miss place to eat if you are in the area. Upon entering you will feel welcomed by a great waitstaff and soon find yourself immersed in what feels like a huge hunting lodge. My first time in I tried the Catfish Parmesan. Absolutely wonderful! I new then and there this would not be my only visit to this gem. Next time in I fell into my old pattern of not messing with success. I had the exact same meal as last time and once again I was not disappointed! Then and there I made a promise to myself to return and try new things. Decided to try the Grouper Gautier. I was not disappointed! Very rarely do I feel compelled to thank a chef on the spot for such a wonderful meal, but this meal warranted it. I have since been back a few time and have never been disappointed. Many delicious appetizers. You may find a gumbo as good in the area but I guarantee you will not find better. Locals love to rave about Crawdad's, and honestly, I'm just not getting it. The reason I'm giving them two stars instead of one is because the food is pretty decent -- not mind-blowing, but decent. The catfish is OK, but I've had better. Their shrimp and grits were very good, but my portion size was tiny, and I was finished with my meal long before everyone else in my party. I'm not pretentious by any means, but their atmosphere is way too... er... "down home" for me. I noticed that their page on here describes proper attire as "dressy." That is *definitely* not the case. I also don't really understand why the restaurant is divided up into so many separate rooms. Finding the bathroom is like walking through a maze. Service could definitely use some improvement. The last time we went, our waiter acted as if he had a chip on his shoulder for some reason, and it made us just a bit uncomfortable. I suppose for being in an area that suffers from a serious lack of good, quality restaurants, Crawdad's is OK, but anywhere outside of the Delta, I doubt they would be as packed as they usually are. read more

I was in Cleveland on a business trip, and wanted a MS delta dinner. Crawdad's was the perfect stop. The rustic interior was great. McKinsie was our server. She was very attentive to our needs. She suggested the spicy shrimp dip appetizer. It was very good. I had crawfish alfredo. Huge entree, sauce was perfect! I had to take half of my dinner home with me.
