I brought three artworks in to be fixed. It took more than four weeks and it cost almost $300. One of the artworks had the wire on the back incorrectly installed and after five days of hanging on the wall, the frame fell down and was irreparably damaged. I sent an email to The Picture Store with images of what had happened and asked for a refund for the one artwork that was done incorrectly. I left a message a week later and now, after almost two weeks, I still have not heard back. Go someplace where the customers are treated respectfully after the work is finished. read more

This is an upscale framing store with "competitive" prices. I was initially thinking about going to a houseware store, buy the frames for the two items I had and do it myself, but I decided to at least stop by and see what they do. Adam was very welcoming and explained the various options. He has a good eye on the matting and type of frames to use. The price was "competitive," as I said. I just received them yesterday. Okay - now I know why it is best to have them professionally done. They are beautiful and worth every cent. I just dropped off a third item to be framed as a gift for my church - again "competitively" priced, but I know it will look fabulous! read more

The Picture Store did an amazing job stretching two large canvas paintings for us, delivered them back safely and well wrapped, and coordinated scheduling a professional to hang them. Diane was wonderful to communicate with - very responsive over text, and super accommodating in scheduling the delivery down to the minute. I had a large wedding print re-done and medium sized painting custom framed here, and was very happy with the results. Adam kept me abreast on the timing of the work being completed throughout the entire process. Both frames came out beautifully. One frame was custom wood from Italy, which looks almost metallic and has a lot of character. The other was a distressed look that had a lot of depth to it, therefore Adam framed it with a gap around the border, highlighting not only the art but the beauty of the frame itself. There were a million options in the store and Adam was ultra friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I plan to bring in any future art for framing. read more

Adam is awesome. I brought a map I needed framed for my boyfriend's birthday... after racking my brain on what to get him, I had 4 days to get this done. Ok 3. He's hard to buy for. They turned it around! I guess that's not the ideal time frame, no pun intended, so try not to do that to him. But got it done, looked amazing, had a great eye for what frame and matting would look best. Reasonably priced. I'm now trying to find other things to frame because it came out so good. I got a frame and it took 17 days for them to frame a poster. The frame cost me more than $300 and was delivered with large scratches all over it clearly visible when hung on a wall. Now I have to bring it back and hope they give me a new frame without these horrible scratches or argue for a complete refund. Meanwhile it's been 17 days since the drop off and still no art in my home... High prices, long time to delivery, and poor quality upon delivery. read more

I have had 4 pieces framed at the Picture Store, with 2 more being done as I write this. Other reviewers will denote the high cost. The cost is about 20-40% higher than what I paid at the Paint Box in Medford. However, the quality is at least double or triple as good. In fact, previous prints I've had framed at other stores I've taken to the picture store to have them corrected, because the Picture store is just that good. I have brought them rolled posters that are as curled as possible, and they use their in-house press to flatten my artwork without damaging it. They keep a computer database of prints so if you want them to use a similar style and material, they bring in your old records to use an exact match. Where the Picture Store really shines is in custom work. If you have rare artwork or special items (like a combination of photos / maps / ticket stubs or whatever), they will take the time to arrange the project correctly. This makes a world of difference and helps protect and display your best memories. The Picture Store is my go to place for framing. The owners are friendly and accommodating, and have always been very helpful when I am looking for ideas to make a framed piece of art special. They have also taken the time to explain to me the advantages/disadvantages of using certain types of glass in different lighting conditions/ I can count at least 8 items that I have used for their services and all the work in my office is framed by them as well. I've used quite a few frame services in MA over the years for various pieces of art, special photos and the occasional family history document, and The Picture Store is by far and away the best in Boston and the surrounding area. If you're looking for a cheap frame for a cheap poster this isn't what you're looking for, but if you're looking for a beautiful frame that will accent your artwork or memory perfectly, this is your place. Amazing work, museum quality, and I've already been back for more. The owners really worked with me to make sure everything was perfect and that the frame would add to the piece, but not distract from it. What I got was a beautifully framed photo that will last for ages without needing to be re-framed when my fickle taste in decor results in yet another overhaul of our home's style. read more

My wife is a Granddaughter of the painter Morris Louis, and for our Anniversary I had a copy of one of his paintings made for her. We didn't have room for it to be full size, but it is 8.5 x 5.8 feet. We needed the canvas stretched and mounted, and I wanted to get it up as a surprise for her. Adam and Diane were absolutely fantastic. Working with a canvas of this size was a bit of an oddity; not just the room and equipment to stretch it, but the delivery and mounting as well. But in the end, looking at it not only conjures memories of family and a gift that I'm particularly proud of, but of the great experience and two new friends we made getting it out of the tube and onto the wall. I found The Picture Store from other reviews on Yelp and decided to take a chance on a new store with some very special pieces. Adam was exceptional. He took my budget into consideration, but also made a point to get to know my style, and what I was looking for in a final product so he could pull some ideas together. The framing itself took a little longer than expected, but Adam called with updates so I knew what was going on and when to expect everything. The finished products, which included one panoramic photo and 2 very high-priced scarves in frames, were absolutely stunning. I couldn't have been happier as I hung each framed piece of art. This is what customer service and local business is all about. I was sitting in a coffee shop on Tremont street when I started talking to a very sweet, older couple next to me. Somehow we began discussing our plans for the day, mine included getting a very old picture of my parents wedding day framed for their anniversary. The second I said "getting something framed" the older couple started telling me about an experience they had at the Picture Store on Berkeley street. And that they themselves have had multiple pieces framed there over the years - all based on a local referral they once received. To me, that was enough. I was sold on giving it a try. When I got there I met Adam. Moments later I met his wife, Diane. Not only did they both help me put together one of the most beautiful pictures of my parents I've ever seen, but my parents both cried when they saw it and it now hangs in their bedroom. The experience of getting it framed was friendly and, dare I say, fun! Adam and Diane have a very easy-going way about them and worked with me to put something together that was both in my budget - and that brings a smile to my parents face. I could not have asked for more and would never frame anything anywhere else. They do good work here but my GOD --- the prices are ridiculous. I had a medium-sized poster framed and it cost literally $325 for a nice frame, but STILL! I've had other pictures framed in other cities for 1/3rd of the cost of The Picture Store. My rant is entirely based on pricing here - the service and staff are good and nice but I feel completely taken advantage of. The high prices are not justified at all. read more

I had an extremely positive experience here and would go back to Adam and Diane again and again for my framing needs. I found The Picture Store when I did a Google search for places with ready-made frames in Boston. It was the weekend before Christmas, and I had art I needed framed that day for gifts. As soon as I walked in, Diane set to work helping me find the right frames. One of the pieces I had was more complicated, because it consisted of 6 small maps lined up in a row. Amazingly, they had the perfect frame, already made, right there in the store. Diane said she could mat and frame my art that very day (as I said I needed same day service). She went above and beyond. The final product for both gifts was absolutely amazing. I still can't believe I was able to have both pieces perfectly and professionally framed in a matter of hours, and at a busy time of year at that.
