I must admit I've not had the best time with Pinn Medical Centre. Back when I first registered with them, they were a much smaller practice, in a location easy to get to, with a bus stop right outside. The staff were helpful, I saw the same doctor or two every time, and it wasn't too hard to get an appointment. Then they became one of those big surgeries with 20 rooms, a dentist, a pharmacist, and various clinics that would normally be run at Northwick Park. While I don't deny there is convenience to be had (for example, I've had an abdominal scan at the Pinn, and some minor surgery - much easier than going to a big hospital), the size has just gotten away from them. The lovely staff at the old location are all gone, and have been replaced by bitter, unfriendly receptionists who always seem to resent your mere presence. They have so many doctors, but so many more patients, that it's nearly impossible to get in for an appointment without waiting about 10 days. Things like the new technology to book online or with an app are great - but twice I've got an appointment that way, only to turn up and be told that they have no record of my appointment, and I can either come back in a week or two, or wait around 2 hours for an emergency appointment. I never can see the same doctor twice, and often (read: always) have to inform them of some relevant bit of medical history. And they have such a turnover because of registrars etc that the quality of care isn't great. Most recently I went in with what I thought was sinusitis, and the GP literally did not touch me. Didn't take my temperature, or listen to my lungs, anything, just said yep, sounds like it, are you allergic to anything? and handed me a script for antibiotics. I was in and out in just 2 minutes. If you have a smaller, more personalised surgery you can go to, you'd be wise to take it up! read more

I've been registered at the Pinn Medical Centre for around 10 years. I've always found the nurses to be very caring and helpful. Over the past year or so, the receptionists have become a bit more friendly and approachable. Since it's now a big surgery, I can usually get an appointment pretty quickly but it's rare to see the same doctor twice unless I specifically ask for a certain GP. Then I often have to wait longer for the appointment but that saves me having to repeat my complex medical history to a new doctor each time. The doctors now seem to be quicker at approving my repeat prescriptions directly with my local pharmacist. The self check-in machine in reception is also useful so you don't need to stand in the queue, as long as you get there before your appointment time. read more

I was surprised and disappointed when I went into the practice on Saturday 15th August in the middle of the afternoon that the staff were surly, unhelpful and totally lacking in social skills, presumably because they didn't want to be there on s Saturday afternoon. How odd that such a lovely new practice would employ receptionists of such a poor calibre. I went into this surgery firstly as a walk in patient. The reception staff were unfriendly, unhelpful and rude. I got seen to quite quickly which was good, but the nurse I saw prescribed me antibiotics which are dangerous in pregnancy, when she knew I was 8 months pregnant. Thank god I double checked at the pharmacy. My GP was disgusted that she didn't know that they were harmful in pregnancy. As we have recently moved pinn medical is my nearest practice. I thought I'd register myself and two sons as the doctors may be better, but when phoning to ask the receptionist some questions she was abrupt, rude, and had nil social skills. Avoid, avoid ,avoid. This medical centre is a good example of a failed model of a walk in centre. Their focus is always on their budgets, doctors play a variety of tricks to spread prescriptions onto different forms instead of prescribing say 3 months in one prescription - this saves their budgets and costs you more at £8.20 per prescription. The reception staff are non smiling, unhelpful and slow. Pooja who seems to be on duty after hours and weekends always does her best to FOB off patients with: "I will send a message to the doctor via our computer system and either the doctor or myself will phone you back on Monday". Nothing happens. You try to register for online access and nothing happens because she simply bins the email address you have given her. You want to see your usual doctor, wait three weeks for an appointment (if your illness permits) otherwise see a new doctor who seem to change every month as they have a very high staff turnover. You ask a doctor for more than one problem and you will be greeted with a surly: "We only deal with one problem at a time as we are only allowed 10 minutes per patient!". Yet when you make an appointment you will usually be taken in 30 or 45 minutes later. Their waiting room (which is busy most times) is like a children's playground where the parents let their kids roam around freely and loudly among sick patients awaiting their turn. You need a B12 injection, a stingy doctor will give you a prescription and ask you to buy the injections from a Pharmacist and then bring it into a nurse for her to inject you with it. Hospital referrals take ages, doctors need two to three reminders (firstly in person and then via phone) before they finally pull their fingers out and write a referral letter. If you go to reception to ask for a repeat prescription you will be told to check again in a couple of days before coming around to pick it up. If you ask the receptionist to phone you when its ready as you need it urgently she will sarcastically tell you, "We have 20,000 patients, we can't be phoning all of them when their prescriptions are ready!" The only problem is that she is too silly to realise that all 20,000 patients don't come to her for repeat prescriptions daily, it is only a handful of them who do! In short this medical centre needs to be investigated by the NHS because their service levels are so poor (you only need to search on Google to see how many dissatisfied patients have given them poor reviews on the internet). If you have a choice and need proper medical attention, go elsewhere. read more

This place is a complete joke! The walk in clinic they operate is ridiculous. Reception staff are unfriendly, last time I went it was a 2 hour wait! Then when I finally got to see a doctor, she could not do anything to help me as that was not my registered doctors surgery! Unbelievable, apart from that she had no experience in the ailment I was suffering from and basically told me there was nothing she could do. I was in and out of there in 5 mins.
