White trash with tattoos who has the chair that sits in the corner by the white board. Sat down, he asked what kind of cut I wanted and I told him I wanted a mid taper. At this point he started to ask me what size clipper I wanted for the sides and I told him I wasn't sure I would always just tell prior barbers who have cut my hair what I wanted, whether it be a fade or just a mid or high taper fade skin fade and they would do it and ask if I want any off the top. Not the case with this guy, he starts laughing at me and asking me " do you even know what a taper or a skin fade is? The difference?" I told him no sorry I don't. He thinks it's funny so he laughs more and he starts explaining to me but in a disrespectful manner mind you I am 36 years old. He asks what I would like after he explains and laughs and has his moment. He starts cutting my hair and the half way through the cut he ask me "where are you from?" I told him where I as from because I said I'm new to the area. At one point I gave him a confused look because the way he was cutting my hair and he asked me " you good" almost as if he was mad and taking his anger out. Starts combing my hair hard enough to the point where the comb hits my nose. His whole demeanor was very off during the whole haircut I won't be coming back here for one of the most disrespectful haircuts i've ever received. The total was $32.00 I gave him $40.00 with a 8.00 tip. I figured he needed it more than I did with his whole attitude. The vibe was off, the moment I walked in. Do better I'll make sure people stop coming to this shop. The guy needs to learn respect and he needs to grow up. Customers paying for your service don't need to be disrespected, grow up and do better.

I've been getting my haircut at this place for a while now and like supporting local businesses. My go-to barber is Jared, the owner, who always does an excellent job. I make sure to tip extra to show that I appreciate his work. The shop has that classic barber vibe, but there are some cool decorations. They take walk-ins, but I'd suggest booking an appointment through Booksys since it can get pretty busy--especially on weekends with all the tourists around. Overall, recommend Pismo Beach Barber Shop if you're into supporting local spots like I am. Just a heads-up, they only take cash, but there's an ATM inside if you need to pull out some money. read more

My wife always gives compliments. The one thing I really appreciate is that every cut is consistent. I have Asian hair and a little bit of a receding hairline, which can be tricky to cut, but he manages to cut it the way I like it all the time. He used to have a chair in San Luis Obispo where I live and it was convenient. I was bummed that he moved to Grover Beach because it can be hard to find a barber that cuts your hair the way you like it consistently. I followed him to Grover Beach anyway instead of finding someone new in SLO. Honestly, I hope he stays local but if he ever decided to move away to someplace like Santa Barbara I would still follow him there. I travel on business and I speak in front of crowds a lot so I need someone who delivers consistent great service and is dependable, but flexible enough to work with my irregular schedule. I highly recommend him. He's easy going, is a hard worker, and very professional.
