I wish I would have remembered to get the name of the guy who cut my sons hair. I've been to Grand Barbers twice and my son has had his hair cut the the same person. My son is autistic and this particular barber was so patient with him. I had put off cutting his hair because I don't want to feel judged or have my son get weird looks for having a melt down. I've been coming to Grand Barbers for over a year. When I first moved down here I tried a few other shops but ended up coming back to Drew and Matt. Now I just stick with either one of them and I'm usually good to go. On Friday's, Drew only does appointments and is usually booked out a few days ahead. I'm originally from the bay area where an appointment is required otherwise you're waiting for hours. Sometimes I wish more appointment days were available so I wouldn't have to wait but I usually just make time to get in when I can. So far I haven't been able to gauge what afternoon's are the best to come. Sometimes I come in between 2pm and 3pm and it's packed, other times I don't have to wait. I think mornings are still the best but I'd avoid Saturday morning. I enjoy the shop talk and everyone is always chill & friendly. There's a good mixture of diverse people that work here and come here. I have thick straight hair so it's important to me that my barber goes over my hair a few times otherwise I have a hair or two that get missed. I've never had that issue here. It's not just about the haircut. The first time I walked into this place there was no wait, Gilbert cut my hair and did a really good job. Enough that I wanted to come back for more. Well, I've been trying to get in since last week. They don't take appointments. They have a board you can write your name on and come back later to see where you are. Which is what I did today... twice. The first time I had moved up about 5 slots. The second time I was evidently late and my name had been crossed off the waiting list. I have a business. I can't either sit and wait for hours for a cut nor can I keep coming back throughout the day on the offhand they might find a spot for me. Sorry, I won't be back. Best barbers around! My boys have had their haircut by all the guys there but they especially like Gibby! Even my daughter who is 5 yrs old wants to get her turn too! Gibby has cut her bangs and given her a trim with layers...they are a busy shop but i do like the fact that they stay open later than most. Why did I come back again. Seriously. Was in town seeing my grandparents and if I could sum it up I would say, overpriced and a wait for a haircut (good quality though) that may not even happen! As someone who has things going that day, I booked my appointment at 11. I didn't get it till after the business closed when I was literally the last customer in the place. I was told 5 hours for a wait. When I got there I sat there so long my granddad took the truck and left me sitting there alone to walk back to his place. I should've took his advice and left with him instead of having to endure a walk of several miles and I don't see why I kept insisting on waiting. Every single customer that I saw when I walked in an hour before closing (6 hours after I booked) wasn't even on the wall of written names when they got their haircuts done within minutes of walking in the door in front of me! When I had my haircut done it was almost 7 and by than the place was long closed to the point the employees dimmed the lights and were doing deep cleaning I finally was charged $20+ for a haircut that should've been worth $12. Many people will post a 5 star but a lot of those reviews solely focus on the good quality and not the fact that seniority customers who are locals are treated with royalty while travelers are being made to take half of their day just to make their quality but overpriced haircut a reality. Also, how many are these reviews are actually by locals favorited by a business that may not even get you service simply based on the fact that you don't go there every month? Big, comfy couches and 2 flat screens made the time pass rather quickly. Awesome haircut and beard trim. I was asked what I wanted and advised on what would make my decision better. I've gone without a hair cut for awhile and decided to do a Barbershop Yelp experience. Visited 3 local shops all had customers waiting but that's where it separates the competition. All shops were fairly clean to clean. Barbers on hand at the other two shops were 50/50 as far as interacting with there client. One shop told me a forty minute wait, I thanked them and and said I'll return alittle later. Nice place. The next place was busier had 3 barbers with clients and waiting was crowded but the atmosphere was very comfortable. A Barber spoke up and said a thirty minute wait. I appreciated his honesty and said I'll return later. ( I'm here today to write this review ). The 3rd shop I visited had two clients in chairs when I walked in, I asked the waiting time and the nice lady said there's another barber in the back. I waited. Never saw him. The other barber finished his client then said to me he's going to lunch the other guy will out soon. Never saw him and no word from the staff to me about anything thing or the delay. I walk out. Not mad just left. I've read Yelp reviews on these businesses and all impressive but Grand Barbers had the most impressive reviews from the most diverse costumers. I am here to say that I too am impressed. family-friendly atmosphere. The waiting room is comfortable with a lot of open space. The customers that I seen it in the shop the last two days range from six years old to 65. Men and women brought in their child. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed. I have found my barbershop.
