Poke lovers rejoice, there is a straight up Poke spot in Sydney!!!…read more Found on the backstreets of Coogee Beach, if you ever missed the poke in Hawaii there is now a solution. When you rock up you can order a small bowl for $15 which comes with your choice of poke, one side, and black rice or if you're hungry you can order a large for $20 which comes with two choices of poke, one side, and black rice. The poke varies from spicy tuna, salmon, kingfish, and others all with different marinades and ingredients. Super fresh and tasty af....sides vary from seaweed salad, potato salad, coleslaw, kim chi and more. I got the large with spicy tuna (ahi) and the Aloha way (salmon) which is the classic along with potato salad. This will definitely fill you up and I plan on coming back. Real healthy and real tasty...can't ask for more.

Came here on a Sunday and was very disappointed…read more Out of the entire poke bowl menu of about 8 selections, only 2 were available. We were told that on Sundays, they made other poke bowls which weren't on the menu. It sounded like they were using their leftover ingredients to put together what they could. We chose 1 of the 2 bowls that was available, and then told that this was actually not available either as what was left was needed for an existing order. Service was poor. Staff were disorganised - there were 2 waitresses behind the counter and one told us that she could describe the food to us but couldn't actually take our order - for some unknown reason only 1 staff could do this. We ordered some poke and vegetables which were on display at the counter. It took them 15 mins to put on a plate (there were only 6 guests in the cafe and some were eating when we came in). It turns out they had forgotten about our order. A staff approached us and asked if we had ordered yet. While we were eating, I heard the staff shout out to eachother in the kitchen describing what ingredients they had and working out a poke bowl combination to put together - supporting my theory that they were using leftovers.

Clovelly is a beautiful beachside town situated in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. It is a great spot to…read morevisit if you want to head to the beach for a swim or do the coastal walk or have a beer at the local pub. However if you are looking for somewhere to have a meal, look no further than Clovelly Social House. Located close to the beach and opposite the pub, you will find parking easily and it's also free. Clovelly Social House offers a relaxed dining experience, quality food and a great place to catch up with friends and family, or just dine with that special someone. Clovelly Social House is open for breakfast lunch and dinner and on this occasion we visited for dinner. This place could be described as a cafe by day, bistro by night. At night, the food on offer is a good mix of modern Australian/Mediterranean/Middle Eastern. With a new winter menu that will help embrace the cool weather, to be enjoyed with a nice glass of wine from their list. The mixed board is a must and a great option to share. This board is a tasty mix of salmon croquettes, lamb kafta, grilled haloumi chorizo and mushroom arancini. The sauce served with the mushroom arancini was so good it should be bottled. For our mains, we shared the pan fried gnocchi served in a delicious creamy truffle sauce and we almost put in a requst for some bread to mop up any sauce left behind because we loved it so much. We also shared the crispy skin salmon which had a middle eastern flare and a bit of a spice kick to it. Thankfully we managed to spare some room for dessert, the tiramisu was nice but the blueberry cheesecake literally took the cake. It is worth visiting Clovelly Social House for this alone. It is a lighter version of cheese cake that is not overly dense, it was a beautiful dessert with a creamy cloud like texture and one of our favourite desserts of the year thus far. The staff at Clovelly Social House we're friends and hospitable and you will enjoy your visit here.

Amazing brekkie! I had the eggs benny with salmon and halloumi! Would highly recommend!! The hash…read morewith the eggs benny just topped it off and made it absolutely perfect!! I would've rated this place a 5 star, BUT, when we first sat down, the waitress brought us water and some glasses, but the glasses had lipstick on them!! Such a let down since I was so thirsty and wanted to drink water right away! Haha The waitress was apologetic and super nice about it, but had that not happened, it would've been an absolutely perfect experience. Hope they're more careful next time and that doesn't happen to you!

I was very happy that this cafe was close to the accommodations we had! We came in a couple times…read morefor coffee, every time we did come in, it was nice and lively but not crazy busy where the wait would take forever. The coffee was nice and they have a good selection of milk alternative although no macadamia milk which I view as an Aussie treat so I always ask about it. I also had a smoothie one day and it was so good! I had mixed berry and mango and the most delicious thing is that they put cinnamon in their smoothies, which apparently is a thing that people do, but this is the first I've ever experienced so now I'm going to do that at home when I make a smoothie!! I was only in their for food once and I had a delicious toast covered in house-baked beans with a perfectly poached egg. It was one of their daily specials which I saw on a chalkboard. Their regular menu had lots of options. The baked beans on toast thing gave me inspiration for breakfast food at home too! The service was great! Since I had gone in there a couple times, I should have asked for my server's name but she was absolutely lovely! It's like she knew exactly when I was ready to order, ready for coffee, ready for more water, etc and she was so kind and great. This a cafe is a nice, cozy, inspiring neighbourhood gem!

AVERAGE at best…read more Mr/Ms Gordons owner. Keep the Cafe, the location, the menu... but get rid of your staff! They're miserable! I've tried too many times to go back and "give it another shot" because I want it to be better than the last time, but one bad experience after another at Gordon's makes me permanently move the 4-5 minutes up the road to somewhere else. Food is ok, standard - but ok. It's the staff that are the worst. Every. Single. Time. I'm disappointed by the staff at Gordons. Order a take away coffee to a rude lady behind the counter who ignores you for 10 min before looking up. Only to wait a further up to 20 min (yes 20 min) on a takeaway coffee, then when you go up and ask if it's far away, you get glared at and handed a coffee without any words. They had a steady stream of customers, but by no accounts were so busy that the 3 people behind the counter could not get a take away coffee done in 20 min. Dine in is no better. 15 min for someone to clear a table (on a quiet day), a further 20 min for a menu, a further 15 min for someone to come back to take an order, a further 15 min for a Soda bottle to be brought to the table all while the wait staff ignore you and chat to each other.. and honestly, look miserable. In saying this, there is 1 nice lady who works there. In summary, walk the 5 min up the road and go somewhere else. Here are some of my favs to get you started. The Village Man and Monkey Clodelly
