Had a fantastic meal here tonight! Firstly the restaurant is fantastic inside very elegant but comfortable too Ok so we loved the pappadams very nice not oily the raita was a bit chunky and no mint but ok The reason I rate it five is the entrees mixed for three was outstanding whilst the Samosa was so so the tandoori chicken was too die for so soft tender and perfectly spiced Then the onion Baja again deliciousness was a 11 out of 10 Lamb cutlet was also awesome imho it was a little overdone I like myn rare but flavour wise spot on Now the butter chicken delicious too with good spice and the Rogan josh lamb was nice and spicy and I loved the fennelgrek taste yum The garlic naan was soft and buttery with a nice char What stood out the most too was food presentation and excellent service I would definitely go back again and again Thank you for your wonderful food and awesome service!!! read more

I've been a real fan of the foods of India or at least I was until I ate at Tandoori Palace. It's certainly a good looking place. Matter of fact, I say it's real good looking, has nice colors, sort of upscale in appearance with decent uncrowded seating space. It's also clean in appearance and the wait staff, though somewhat average in competence, aren't all that bad. The food I had here, however, just didn't cut it for me. I went for their "Lamb Josh" which was to be a classic lamb curry dish traditionally prepared in medium hot aromatic spice sauce along with tomato. Unfortunately, to my taste, it turned out to be singular in flavor, being of a flat out curry having very little if any depth of anything else that hinted of aromatic. The lamb seemed to be more mutton than lamb as even when cooked had an intense meat redness, near harsh in flavor and the cuts contained an inordinate amount of fats and grizzle. From its texture alone I would guess the lamb must have been over age three when slaughtered. Another matter is that Tandoori also does a takeout business which might be fine if want take out, but if you're dining there the takeout customers coming and going can be a bit annoying. read more

I'm back again at the Tandoori Place - principally because it is close to my hotel and I know what to expect - so went with a new dish; smokey eggplant masala with the pilieu rice and of course a peshawari naan The dish was very different to what I had expected - a generous serve of eggplant cooked well in mild spices but just a tad too oily. Not that feature slowed me down - I was hungry and it was getting late. Eggplant has its own texture and it was nice to have something different to standard vegetable medley. At the end of the day this is solid fare served simply and honestly. The peshawari naan is to my mind a sweet and a weekday indulgence - time for a stroll and then hit the treadmill to atone. read more

I had my Hen's night here. I accidentally booked the restaurant for a bit earlier than when we actually arrived, but I let them know and they were lovely and accommodating. We had the downstairs area to ourselves, complete with drag queen, and sung our hearts out to karaoke! The food was delicious and carefully catered to our group (coriander on the side, extra chilli for some, etc.). I had ordered a bit too much but our hosts served us what was appropriate, which ended up being more cost effective! I would highly recommend Tandoori Palace for a group event! read more

I loooove Indian food, yum. Admittedly I tend to sway more towards the South Indian thali and dosai but a really good aromatic North Indian curry can be one of the most divine taste sensations.... Tandoori Palace is several cuts above the greasy spoon North Indian Diners peppered along the other side of Oxford St, with delicate, authentic curries with a modern twist, lovely staff and service and nary a bain-marie to be seen. My friend and I shared a few veg dishes, rice and a couple of nice glasses of red. Everything was top notch, and if you join their email list they give you a free meal on your birthday! Bless... FYI they have a karaoke room here, which I've yet to visit but something sounds so right about curry with karaoke. read more

Decent Indian conveniently located on Oxford Street. They do the basics well enough, and luckily for my friends and I are also open quite late. The food didn't blow me away, but for Sydney Indian it was quite good - I probably wouldn't recommend it myself for an evening out, but neither would I object to returning. As an extra tip - apparently they do karaoke downstairs as well. I leave it to the reader to decide if this adds value, or detracts! read more

Indian food and karaoke is an interesting mix (for me anyway) and that's what is on offer at The Tandoori Palace on Oxford Street. (They actually call it curry-oke!) Actually upstairs in the street level dining area, you'll avoid all karaoke and you can enjoy some old school Indian faves. If you're after some karaoke to accompany your meal then book a table downstairs for a group and let the fun (for lack of a better word) begin. To be honest I'm not the biggest fan of karaoke but I headed over here with a group from work. We ordered the banquet which was nice and quite filling and you can get some stuff which is a bit different from the norm. We had a table downstairs with karaoke playing through out the night which let's just say, wasn't as fulfilling as the meal itself. That's not fault of The Tandoori Palace though but more the people I was with! It's worth heading over for some great Indian food but if you decide on curry-oke choose your friends wisely! read more

The food is very tasty I tried the butter chicken (I know what you're thinking - hardly Indian!) but I've eaten here before and had other dishes and they are equally as good!. The decor was nice, the older seemed very intuitive to my needs. The service was a little bit slow and the food took a little long to come out but it was definitely worth it. I had the Rogan Josh with saffron rice and it was absolutely delicious read more

We thought we would give the old site of Betty's Soup Kitchen a whirl and see how the Indian was. Unfortunately, not as great as we had hoped. Obviously, with a focus on tandoori, that was the star. Unfortunately the curries lacked the depth, thickness and body that we are spoilt with in this area. The samosas appeared to have missed the seasoning stage, it couldn't be an intentional choice to leave the ingredients plain so that one will just have to be chalked up to a kitchen mistake and they happen from time to time. For charred tandoori, the meals were great, unfortunately the other dishes were a bit of a miss. read more

We stumbled upon this near our hotel down the street looking for a quick bite, and figured it was a good sign that it was so crowded at 9:30 on a Sunday. We ordered the palak paneer and balti curry and the whole wheat roti, which were both great. Staff were nice and the service was good. read more

We went there last night, after the movies and had a great meal. We had samosas, and duck for entree delicious. For main masaman beef and goat curry, tender juicy and full of flavour, mopped up with naan and accompanied with chutneys. We brought our own wins and there is a $3.50 per glass. Total bill around $80, it was around 7-30pm when we arrived and the place was half full, service was great and friendly. Well worth another visit read more

Worst. Experience. Ever. Received such poor service as they told me my food was going to be delivered in 40-60 minutes. I called them after an hour and a half and they said that the delivery guy had just left. Half an hour later I called back and complained that the food still hadn't arrived and it had been not only two hours, but an hour after thir estimated delivery time. They were unapologetic and merely made up excuses over and over again and when I said that I shouldn't at least have to pay the devilry charge he rebuttled with more excuses. I finally got my food...and it was cold. Cheers for that Tandoori Palace. read more
