Smucker Gardens knows how to kick off fall in style! My first visit was for their 2025 Mum…read moreFestival, and let me tell you--it was everything I hoped for and then some. The Scene: Easy to find on GPS, well-signed from the road, and plenty of parking in the gravel lot. Their greenhouses are massive and overflowing with plants, and inside the main building you'll find home décor, gifts, and seasonal goodies galore. Prices lean a touch higher than some other local greenhouses, but given the location and setup, it felt fair. The Mum Festival: Perfectly organized. Food trucks up front (grab a bite first, wander later--smart!), vendor tents sprinkled throughout, live music filling the air, and kids' activities that looked like pure joy. It was a warm, sunny September Saturday--ideal fall fest weather. The Adventure: While mums and pumpkins were great for the vibe, my main goal was something a little...unexpected. The ad mentioned camel rides. Yes, CAMEL rides. At a mum fest. At 40 years old, I had never ridden a camel, and I wasn't about to miss my shot. I called ahead to confirm that the "kids activity" was indeed open to grown-ups, too. Fast forward to the fest--I see the sign: "Camel Rides $10 Per Person." Ten bucks for a once-in-a-Central-PA-lifetime adventure? SOLD. Nervous, excited, and slightly in disbelief, I climbed aboard. And it was everything I hoped it would be--totally worth the thrill (and the bragging rights). The Food: Yummy eats from food trucks and coffee from Brewboxx to keep the energy high. Perfect fuel for festival hopping. All in all: a fun, unique, and memorable event. Smucker Gardens is worth a visit on any regular day--but during Mum Fest? Add it to your fall bucket list.

What do you when you're extremely tired from a 12 hr foot race? Follow your friend who attended…read morethat exact race event as you into the Home Depot hours afterward. It was cool that this Home Depot was close enough to my hotel - the Sleep Inn, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. There wasn't a whole lot going on within walking distance and the 7-Eleven convenience store was not 100% functional yet, at the time of my experience here - Memorial Day weekend 2023. And with that, I ventured here to Home Depot with my friend at around 7:30pm without a proper dinner. My friend wanted to grab cash from her debit card. I didn't realize Home Depot did that, but I knew grocery stores did. It's pretty cool to know, but I usually carry credit cards anyway. With that in mind, I decided to purchase a couple of soda drinks to kill time while my friend withdraws money from her debit card. The store itself seemed empty, especially on a Saturday evening randomly in May 2023. There was basically really no customers that I could see shopping. Just a couple of staffers and my friend and I at the front of the store where the check out registers were. All seemed quiet since you know Saturday evening in central Pennsylvania. My experience took about 15 minutes at this Home Depot location. The service was good and friendly. I got to enjoy the rest of the evening watching tv with knowing that I don't have to run a foot race the next day and enjoying my drinks purchased from Home Depot. The overall experience here at this Central Pennsylvania location was fairly good and fast. Friendly and quite satisfactory since my friend need to get cash from her debt card that evening and I just happened to tag along. For the most part, though, it was a pleasant and pleasing experience to be here, even though it was really weird to be at a Home Depot during my travels anyway. But it was cool though, because I got to buy some drinks to try on my vacation after doing the 12 hour running events in Central PA nearby. Home Depot is basically a hardware superstore, as many of you know. It's basically for any job you have around the house or apartment, or commercial space building whatever. Home Depot is your one stop shop, usually for anything hardware or home related dealings. For me, though, it was just a place to buy soda pop for my own benefit and pleasure. So, if you're in the area and need cold drinks, consider stopping here at this Home Depot location in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Even if you're passing through, it's always a worthwhile stop. This Home Depot location is physically located at 1235 Main Street in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, basically next to the Sleep Inn hotel. They accept major credit cards, as well as cash. As far as parking goes, they have The most generous parking lot options available for most people's needs, so you can actually grab a spot at the entrance if you don't want to walk too far from your car. Plenty of space for everyone. If you rely on public transportation, not sure if there is one honestly. Best to check with the regional transportation authority and see if there is one in Harrisburg and in Carlisle. Best to rent a car or have your own for convenience, to be honest. However you get here for your home improvement needs or just grabbing money like an ATM from a debit card, like my friend did, Home Depot has a lot of the stuff you need. The price for soda and other drinks are pretty good and probably the only thing in walking distance, if you don't have a car and don't want to spend on an Uber. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. 4.0 stars for the service and being open when we needed it to be. 5.0 stars for location. 3.0 stars for the prices. Support local! B

I was able to contact Home Depot because I simply wanted a water softener put in my home. That's…read moreall I wanted: a water SOFTENER because I have hard water. Very hard water. They sent me someone trying to sell me an $8500 military grade system that would soften the water to zero, but also filter out chlorine and chemicals. I learned a lot about my water, but all I wanted was a water softener. This, though, was the first time I had a questionable experience with Home Depot. I certainly cannot afford an $8500 system and most people cannot either. I'm somewhat frustrated that they didn't send someone to give me a quote on a system that is solely a water softener which may run 400-800.00 according to AI. I smell something odd going on here.
