Nothing fancy, half-clean, decent seating and picture/sound quality. I'm used to shinier interiors, comfier seats and bigger screens being from the D.C. area, but as far as being a theater goes, this one gets the job done. The teenage girls working the snack bar were pretty dumb and slow... had to repeat ourselves several times, remind them not to put butter on the popcorn, wait in line a while, etc. You really have no other option in the Beckley area for seeing a movie, so hope you like it!

I never worried because of previews and whatnot, but I stood in line (with 5 couples in front of me) for almost 20 minutes. The people working concessions were in no hurry what so ever. I got to the theater late and missed the opening scenes to the movie itself. I actually timed one couple who got 2 slushees and a popcorn and it took 4.5 minutes for this to be completed. The theater itself was dead, and it was clean, but I shouldn't have to show up 45 minutes early just to get into the theater on time.

I don't usually go out to watch movies because it gets to be rather expensive and I'm on a starving-student budget at the moment, but on Bargain Tuesdays, it's $5/ticket all day, and for movies starting before 11 a.m. on Saturdays, it's also $5. Otherwise, tickets range from $6-8 depending on how old you are. The seats here are super comfy + spacious! The popcorn and the drinks seem to be all-you-can-eat, which is a novel concept for a movie theater (at least to me). Food/refreshments at movie theaters are notoriously expensive, but considering that you can refill as many times as you want, that makes it more worth it (assuming you really do get up to get more). A small popcorn is $4.75, and the ginormous tub is $6.75, so make your decision depending on how good the movie/your company is and/or how frugal/lazy you're feeling! My favorite thing is probably the fact that they have all sorts of different toppings/seasonings for the popcorn, from your standard butter to...ranch, garlic parmesan, cheddar, caramel, and kettle corn. :D I was going to try every flavor, but got stopped up on the kettle corn, so...maybe next time!

The interior is pure original Art Deco, including the seats (so no cup holders, y'all). Tickets are budget friendly at 6 dollars a pop. A large popcorn is around four dollars and comes with real butter! They also play FREE movies during weekdays in summer and holidays, mostly for kids. The people running the Ritz are super friendly, and they do cute chalkboard advertisements (see photo). Located in the heart of downtown Hinton, it's walkable from anywhere in the National Historic District.

Unruly kids. Any kind of conversation during the movie. Anything that detracts from the movies entertainment value. Hell movie theaters used to have Valets that monitored the event and enforced the general rules for admission. Since the theaters have quit, it was good that streaming came along. Now we can watch new releases without rude interuptions from other people. Actually save money too. So theaters will eventually become a thing of the past. Just like drive in theaters.

This theater is one I went to when The Camelot Theater, The Keith Albee Movie Theater and Cinema Theater didn't have the movies I wanted to see. I don't know if they have upgraded the seating, but you might have heard of the term "Down In Front" spoken from time to time. I came to this movie theater once with a friend who did not like Valentine's day mainly because we were both single. Going to this mall or the movies was tricky at times. Mainly because the last bus was around 5 or 6pm. If you missed this bus you either had a car, took a cab back to campus or walked back to school. Still, there were times I chanced watching a movie at the mall. Then I had to rush to the bus station in a hurry. Great times:)
