But if you want Truth, whether you disagree with some of his interpretations of the more complicated parts and Revelation, at least he teaches it. That takes courage and boldness. This is the one fellowship that I can easily reccommend for teaching the whole Bible from Genesis 1 the verse first to the last period in Revelation. No fellowship is perfect. And these Brethren tend to be more mature in the Love of GOD and friendly. The only challenge is it's on the last part of the last island of Merritt Island on Banana Drive. and for GLEN C., well, are you in Tennessee? You'd know that GOD can do miracles and gives 2nd chances to fellowships that change. I don't know their past, but I do know their present. I love this church, I've been attending several years now, and I think I'm a rare breed of…read moreMillenial who enjoys attending a traditional church service without a band and without a big projector screen. I didn't grow up Lutheran, I grew up generic Evangelical, so for me the traditional structure of the service, called the "liturgy" is fascinating and unusual. I feel like I get in touch with the roots of the early church when we kneel and start every service with confession & forgiveness, sing short songs between parts of the service, stand for the reading of the Gospel, give each other a sign of God's peace by shaking hands and saying "Peace be with you" with the folks around us, sing from the hymn book, and take communion every Sunday as part of the eucharist. (Roman Catholics reading this are probably like "hmm, sounds familiar") The music is wonderful, with both piano and organ at every service, plus a great vocal choir and handbell choir during the school year. If you love to sing or listen to music, try this church because we sing at least 3 hymns every service, plus 4-5 voluntary hymns during communion, plus 3-4 short pieces of liturgical music during the service. Haha, if you hate hymns...don't say I didn't warn you! I feel like it's easier to hear "the still, small voice" of God in this beautiful sanctuary with its amazing stained glass windows (when's the last time you saw stained glass that included people of color? And a space shuttle? And Frank Lloyd Wright's midcentury icon, "Falling Waters"?) While the service format is traditional and might even be easy to compare to a Roman Catholic service, the ELCA denomination is refreshingly progressive, allowing women to be ordained as ministers since 1970 (the current head of the church in the US is a woman) and allowing pastors to marry. This church welcomes people of different orientations with the radically inclusive love of Jesus Christ - although be aware that like many beachside churches, there aren't a lot of young people who attend, but I've still felt welcome. Pastor Jay's message is always Christ-centered, and I love that he backs up his sermons with scripture and also takes time to educate the congregation about historical norms when Jesus was alive, and also tell us about the different meanings behind the ancient words and languages the Bible was written in. You can listen to his sermons on the church website. Every July he does sermons based on questions from the congregation about Christianity in general. I love this transparency and willingness to entertain questions about something that some people think is "unquestionable" like faith and religion. I also always feel better when I attend, I found the people there to be friendly, but not overwhelming. I started to attend when I was in a place where I didn't know if I wanted to attend church at all, but every time I attended a service I was filled with a sense of peace and well being, and that kept quietly drawing me back for something I didn't realize was missing in my life.

Resurrection is what church is supposed to be...what Christ wants us to be. We are worship…read moreservices, but so much more. Worship Services...we go at 11 am regardless of the worship genre. Right now we have a wonderful contemporary service with song leaders who are mindful that this is a worship service, not a concert. We learn the songs and they reverberate in my mind throughout the week. Pastor Jay makes this service personal and understandable. His sermon message is the same in our cafe service on Saturdays at 5 pm; our 8:30 traditional service with choirs, bells and organ; and the contemporary 11 am with guitars, keyboard, drums and song leaders. Our friends and our members support an active ministry to the homeless and those less fortunate through a food pantry, a bike ministry, a burger bash for one and all, a laundry day, a hair-cutting day. We seek out our homeless friends and new friends Saturday mornings, not to evangelize them, but to be their friends and put out a helping hand if they want it. As the song says "go make a difference, we can make a difference, we can make a difference in our world". And that's what we are doing at Resurrection, one person at a time. Pastor Mark is a leader who teaches practical applications of the gospel every single weekend. With Jesus at the core, he trusts his congregation to understand deeper concepts that will transform their lives. 2. The mission work at this church spans from the local community to a much broader international scope. So, when Pastor Mark preaches about the servant heart of Christ, the body of believers can be inspired to work in any of the church's mission fields. 3. The student ministry for middle/high school students is very active and I've personally seen God's hand transforming the lives of many that attend. I have been a leader at 3 summer camps and every year I see the students opening up to their peers in order to form a christian support system at school. 4. I love the worship at this church because it reflects the vast array of emotions a believer experiences in life. There are upbeat songs that relate to the pure joy we have in the presence of our Creator/Father and there are songs that speak to our graceful, forgiving God that strengthens us when we are weak. The style is in the likes of Bethel, Elevation, Chris Tomlin and other contemporary praise artists you would hear on Z88.3 5. This church is large but it encourages its members to join a small group. Small groups are a great way to grow close with other believers who may become lifelong friends. You will feel welcome at Church at Viera so if you are looking for a church, this would be a great place to try out.

Church of Viera was the worst experience my wife and I have ever had at a Church. After watching a…read moreservice online last week we thought we would give the 10am service a try and drove 30 minutes to Viera only to be treated as if the Church did not care. After dropping my wife off at the door she is handicapped and walks with a walker, I went and parked the car and met her inside. I was super excited as the Church was packed. That is when it all went wrong. 1) We saw an usher and I said 2 seats please and pointed out my wife's walker. He looked at us and very rudely said "I ain't got nothing for you" which was weird as there were several reserved seats right in front of us. 2) So, we decided to just leave as we did not want to burden someone who cared less for us. 3) Upon walking out we gave the person holding the door the papers he gave to us as we walked in. We told him the usher said "he ain't got nothing for us". Instead of trying to help he then said, "have a good day" and I said, "thank you for making us feel wanted". 4) Several Church volunteers overheard and just said, "have a good day". 5) As we were approaching our vehicle a gentleman named Steve asked, is everything alright? We explained what had taken place and he was very apologetic and offered to escort us back in and help find seats. At that point we were already upset that the usher was so rude and declined his offer. He again apologized and said as a Christian that is not how you treat people. I know this is long winded, but I am still in shock as I write this 3 1/2 hours later. We are both in our middle 50's and my wife is handicapped from leukemia walking with a walker, and we were treated so rudely by an usher. Besides Steve from outside, not one single person offered to assist or help. This is clearly NOT the way JESUS would be treating people. Do Better Church of Viera Do Better.
