Last night in Tofino, I wanted to go out with a bit of a bang, so I decided to book the most expensive restaurant around town. Service here is immaculate servers and waiters are so polite. It's like they're afraid of you. Decided to go with the seasonal five course menu. Lacking portions it almost makes up for in taste. Amuse Bouche is a novel snack. Three kinds of bread are nice and fresh. The halibut brandade is so soft. It's almost like mashed potatoes. The White asparagus with duck rhubarb had nice sour zing to it. The Squid ink spaghetti was my favourite creamy, not overpowering delicious and leaves you craving more with every bite. Duck breast was very tender felt very forest fresh. Desert was fluffy and reminded me a little of a van goh painting. Granola felt very west coast. Overall, not a terribly filling meal, but the view is crazy and poetic and the ambiance is something else. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and both got the 3 course tasting menu. I got the tomato salad, the halibut, and chocolate raspberry dessert while he got the salmon salad, duck, and cheesecake. While the dining atmosphere was incredible and service extremely professional and attentive, the food was unfortunately not anything to write home about. It was beautifully prepared, but were very small portions and left a lot to be desired in terms of flavor. The desserts honestly outshone the mains. I'd maybe return for a more casual meal, but would not do the tasting menu again, as I didn't feel the price justified the experience sadly. read more

My partner and I were staying at the Wickaninnish Inn so we tried the Point restaurant the first night. The view was marvelous but the dinners disappointed. Except for the bread ( which was marvelous) the food was tasty but not great. And the portions were disgracefully small given the elevated prices. For the remainder of our stay we dined at other local restaurants, all of which served better meals at lower prices. The best was the Great Room at the Long Beach Resort. The chef there ( who previously worked at the Point) is a true culinary artist. read more

My wife and I were greatly looking forward to having a dinner at Wikkaninish Inn/Pointe Restaurant - but unfortunately were underwhelmed. The food was good, okay - but nothing incredible. my wife's scallops tartar were tasty; my beet salad was tiny, four little beet quarters, in a garlic sauce. Her entree of halibut with juniper curry sauce was nice. My bison strip loin was overcooked , came well done and a little tough, rather than the medium rare I ordered. Mushrooms and black peppercorn sauce were nicely done. We both had the dark chocolate with raspberry sorbet, and that was the best of the three courses. But for $280 I would have expected way more wow factor, nd at least have the steak cooked correctly. We would not return. Beautiful setting and sea views from the restaurant , but they seem to be operating more on reputation than meal excellence to justify the high prices. read more

A sight for sore eyes I haven't had smoked fish this good since we were in New York. This smoked salmon platter from @thepointetofino was amazing. There were three different types of smoked salmon on the plate, crackers, cream cheese, and fresh alliums. It was super interesting to play with the different components and textures on the plate. And the whipped cream cheese was so addicting, we nearly licked it off the plate! All the other dishes that we tried that night was also stunning, but I find myself craving for this smoked fish platter the most. We had a dinner reservation and had pre-ordered our meals. We were not served anything to eat until one hour and twenty minutes after our reservation. We asked for some bread to tie us over and the waiter refused. He told us he could not bring bread until after the amuse bouche. Our main courses were served two hours and ten minutes after our reservation time. The food was fine, but by the time it was served, it was so late that we were all too tired to enjoy it. The only really good thing I can say about our experience is that the view from the restaurant is stunning, but you better bring some snacks while you look. read more

You have to give this place an extra star for the view alone. Perched on the beachside, the restaurant provides amazing views of the crashing waves as you dine. It is the perfect place to be when it is wet and drizzling out, as you can really appreciate the storm without getting wet. We came by for brunch and luckily they could accommodate us even though we were not staying there. Just stop by the security booth and they will call in to check before letting you in. More people trickled in after us but there was plenty of space between tables and everyone had a good table for the view. We had the Smoked Salmon Rosti and the Braised Lamb Cavatelli. Both were delicious but the Rosti was the winner as we liked the use of the potato rosti as the base. A little pricey but definitely a great way to treat yourself. Came to check out the gorgeous Wickaninnish Inn & their gorgeous restaurant, the Pointe for Happy Hour. We sat in the bar to enjoy the insane water view and their prime location in Tofino on Chesterman Beach. The cocktail menu, beer & wine selection are vast. We enjoyed delicious cocktails, starting with the wonderful "Peats Day Off" a luxurious fab riff on a whiskey sour and a glass of bubbly with their famous spiced nuts. Service was top notch. The Pointe does not disappointe! We enjoyed two dinners in a row over a lovely weekend and EVERYTHING was amazing. Obviously the view is like nowhere else, but that's far from what solely defines this restaurant. The serving staff was polite, chatty if you want or invisible if you just want to watch the sunset with an amazing cocktail or glass of whatever. The food was well sourced, beautifully plated, and offered with a lovely description and little pretentiousness. Everyone I chatted with from the hosts, to the servers, to the sommelier, and the chefs were super pleasant and I felt very taken care of during my two night dinner stint at The Pointe. Ps. I could eat the view, but once your breath returns, and you realize that that really is Mt. Fuji in the distance, you'll notice the restaurant is all heavy beams and ceiling to floor glass anchored by a massive copper fireplace in the middle of the round room. There is a long bar with high tops to look over the tops of heads at the astonishing view. If Jay Gatsby wanted to open an upscale seaside exclusive restaurant this would be the model. The place is rustic subdued understated elegance on steroids. The Vibe: Who goes there? The rich, richer, richest and a few less fortunate sons. I expected to remain just a nose pressed against the window like a pound puppy but I booked a nappy hour table. The Staff: Falling over each other being helpful. Thomas Keller grade top professionals used to working the swells while they watch the swells roll into the beach below. The Bar Program: As good as any top New York drink depot. A Dark and Stormy Night was perfect for a dark and stormy day or better for a Donald and Stormy stay at the attached Inn. There are pages of signature cocktails and a wine list that equals War and Peace in length and is a better read. It is so big it has a two page Table of Contents which should make any malcontent content. One sip of a Honeysucculent Sour with Irish Mist, Peach Brandy, Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup and Egg White made me stop being contentious. Cocktails are offered based on the preferred alcohol base which makes it easier for base alcoholics. The Food: Is it appropriate to use the words "orgy and eating" in the same sentence? Yes, there is a tasting menu which looked daunting so I ordered ala carte which was more food than on the set menu. The Amuse Bouche truly amused my bouche. Pureed Edamame, Popped Quinoa, Puffed Rice Crisp with an IV drip of Scallion Oil. This was the perfect party dip...if you're having Gates, Buffet, Zuckerberg and Cuban over for cocktails and nibbles. The Brined Grilled Oysters with Kohlrabi Kraut, Raw Cheddar Sabayon, Toasted Rye Crumb, Grilled Scallion Oil showcased Marina Top Drawer Oysters with a full kit. (Scallion Mignonette, grated Horseradish, and Lemon). I would've been happy with some Top Drawers, sea water and Oyster liquor or any liquor for that matter. Marina's Tops downed in a hurry leaving only her drawers. It was as if Swan Oyster Depot hooked up with Acme Oyster House. Everyone got lucky. The Smoked Sturgeon came in a fetal curl nestled on Pumpkin Cream, Dill, Brunoise Poached Apple, with a mini Bagel and Fried Onion Rings. This dish was a whole bag of tricks, tastes, and textures. Add on a dollop of Sturgeon Cavier and be all the baller you can be. The Truffled Stuffed Chicken Breast with Roasted Onion, Leeks, a meadow of Mushrooms, and Stuffing (coins of the best thing about Thanksgiving besides not sitting next to your weirdo cousin) all buried in Veloute (Chicken Cream Sauce that did not drool out of a Campbell's can.) I'm often chicken to order the chicken (unless it's fried which makes me genuflect at the mere mention of that argument for God's existence.) But this chicken was cluckin' at me and not with me so I took a chance. It channeled Chicken Kiev, Cordon Bleu, Involtini, and made me glad I didn't chicken out. The Sable Fish was smoked and seared and I feared just a Cod Brandade but no, they were separate components, along with Celeriac Puree, Micro Potato Chips, Hemlock and Cynamooka Berry Sauce. This was created from the local bounty of Nature and looked like the box of a Paint-By-Number set. The fitting dessert for such a feast? Feast your eyes. There's a list as long as a Seal Flipper. I had a Bourbon Pecan Tart with a Pecan Sable (cookie) and house made Vanilla Ice Cream. Brilliant. A laundry list of Canadian Cheese to please is also available at your whim, all with house baked Breads, Crackers, a fancy Trail Mix, Honeycomb, an Apple Fan, and Berry Jelly. I had to have the Avonlea Cheddar which was rare and raw. A Fromage Cru slightly P. U. a bit grainy with a definite cheesy finish. Don't we all know someone who fits that description? The Ashley Goat was as funky as a gym sock and twice as tasty. "What are those little craters and what makes this so devilishly good?" I asked the server. "The Ash Holes that made it." Don't we all know someone who fits that description? When you can barely breathe, out comes the Chocolate Truffles, Cassis Jellies and the check which tops your breathing or gets it going quicker. Many years ago (25 ish?) I made a quick trip to Tofino and stopped in at Wickinanish Inn for brunch. I was blown away by the perfection of the place (from beautifully carved cedar doors to the spectacular dinning room) and rember the great care that was taken in all aspects of the food and its presentation. I was astonished on a recent visit that the place was exactly as perfect as I rembered it. We stopped in on a cold rainy day and had very yummy seafood chowder with sable fish and spotted prawns, perfect again. read more

Surprised at all the 5 out of 5 reviews on here. Maybe I ordered the wrong things. I had the Westcoast Clam Chowder, which I thought was a little watery and bland. Amount of clams and ingredients were good though, just bland. I also had the Fish and Chips, which again was bland. I usually don't like overly salty dishes, but both of these were too plain. For the prices The Pointe charges, I expected much more. ($17 for chowder) Coffee was bold and strong. The service was good and of course the view was gorgeous. The Pointe restaurant is located in Wickaninnisb Inn. The restaurant is surrounded by majestic windows overlooking the ocean. Inside, the decor is upscale rustic elegance. The servers are attentive, knowledgeable and experienced about the wines as well as the dishes. The dishes are pricier, but the ingredients they use are fresh coastal seafood, free range meats and organic produce. The table starts with an amuse bouche followed by a small bread basket. The chilled seafood was presented beautifully in a cavier tin. Inside was a mix of dungeness crab, shrimp, panna cotta, with a dollap of caviar on top. This was an interesting taste because the panna cotta was suppose to be a savory dish, but it leaned to the sweet side. The braised octopus appetizer with puffed quinoa waa tender. The poached pheasant with truffle, leek, and wild mushroom was delicious, but the presentation for me was a bit off. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I was looking for a dish that resembled some sort of poultry. The duck breast with poached foie gras however was perfection. The petit fours dessert with house made chocolates and small pastries were decadent. The baker's dozen which was small dipping dessert donuts was crispy and doughy soft. Spectacular view, wonderful food- this place has it all. We came here for brunch on a wednesday morning and was fortunate enough to be seated right by the window, close to the surf so we could watch the surfers. I had the smoked salmon eggs benedict with a small rosti potato (basically an extremely well made and crispy hash brown), which was wonderful. The boyfriend had the smoked salmon rosti, which was kind of like a variation of eggs benedict with rosti instead of an english muffin, on a bed of spinach and topped with tons of smoked salmon. Apparently this is a crowd favorite and the boyfriend loved it. Overall, you really cant beat the views and the food is wonderful as well. Definitely make sure you stop by this place! Incredible experience from beginning to end. The view alone is worth 5 stars! But the meal was great to match! Came for brunch and the freshly squeezed orange juice was perfect! The house sausage is amazing and they have the best bacon and rosti. Toast and eggs done perfectly and made chocolate chip pancakes for the kids. But again, did I mention the view? Breathtaking! Note, if you don't stay at the hotel, you have to drive up to the gate ambassador and let them know you are coming to dine. They will check with the restaurant for space before letting you in. We had an amazing vegan dinner here. Fried tofu (sounds like it could be boring but it is out of this world !) Green salads and a vegan coconut creme brulee style tart for dessert (also amazing !). My rating is solely based on customer service - not on the food. We came for brunch. I read on the website that brunch was based on walk-ins, so we didn't make any reservations. When we crossed the gate at the entrance of the hotel, the guard told us the restaurant was "fully committed" for hours and wouldn't be able to take us in. They sent us to the cafe instead. We decided to check at the restaurant anyway, and they told us the wait would be 20-25mins and that we should wait at the cafe, where they would call the barista to let us know when our table would be ready. When we got to the cafe and told the barista we were waiting for a table at the Pointe, they told us "let me call the restaurant to verify"...did they think we were lying? Then, the barista told us "it will be a 45-50mins wait". Somehow, from the time it took us to walk from the restaurant to the cafe, 25 mins were added to the wait! At the cafe, I ordered some sparkling water. The guy behind the bar told the cashier "there's a bottle of 350ml and one for 500ml". The cashier told the guy "give me the 500ml" - she decided for me what size I should get. I then told her I prefer the 350ml. She gave me a weird look. Everyone around us has been treated with such courtesy - Im wondering if they have a problem with the fact that we are a family of 5 (with young kids) or with the fact that we are non-white. From the moment we stepped into the property it seems like they have been trying to discourage us from staying here. When we finally got our table, there were only 5 other people there (that is, just 2 tables were occupied). The food is exceptionAl and deserves a 5-star rating. I just wished we were treated with more courtesy. read more

If you aren't a guest of the hotel, don't bother. The only thing appealing in this restaurant is the view, and if you aren't staying at the hotel, they will sit you in the back. I booked a reservation about 6 weeks in advance. I had let the lady making the reservation know that it was a special occasion, and I took an earlier seating so that I could get a Window seat. She said all the later evening sittings by the window were booked, so the only way we could be accommodated was if we went early. Fair enough I thought We showed up to a basically empty restaurant when we arrived, which was surprising given the production that the lady made about how fully booked they were...The went to seat us basically in a booth, with the fire place completely blocking our view. I said their must be a mistake, because I made a reservation 6 weeks in advance to ensure a Window seat...I was told that Window seats are only for guests of the hotel. I inquired if there was no one sitting in one of the 4 open tables, if we could sit in one, and they decline...I was trying to not make a production, again, as this was supposed to be a very special night. We sat for 2 hrs, and tried to make the best of it, and no one sat at the empty window tables. They would rather have tables empty, then give them to people that weren't staying at the hotel. Not only did they render my advance booking pointless, as the restaurant was basically empty, they ensured I will never eat there again, and let everyone know how they treat people that don't stay there read more

The Pointe was our favorite restaurant that we hit in this area. We came back later during our stay and had a few pints in the lounge and made a meal out of a cheese plate and bread basket. First thing you're going to notice at the Pointe is the view. It is set as far out on the rocks as the Wick goes. It is a huge, round room with a beautiful copper fireplace in the middle and ridiculous panoramic views from every seat in the house. The menu was interesting. We knew that we would have as much seafood as we could handle on this trip and they had some cool innovations and preparations that we really liked. We split a few appetizers and each had an entree. That turned out to be the right amount of food for us. Shrimp and Grits-spot prawns and popcorn Spicy Pacific Octopus-Chili Glaze, Sesame, Seaweed Salad, Crisp Sushi Seared Local Cod-Dungeness Crab, Tomato, Fennel, Saffron Arugula, Orange & Pinenut Crumble Tofino Salmon Tandoori-Apricot, Burnt Eggplant Puree, Red Lentil Crisp Scallion & Cilantro The Octopus had a nice kick. Kris loved the Lingcod and the crabmeat was excellent with it. I enjoyed the preparation of the salmon and it was a nice filet that came out perfectly medium rare. We finished with their Maple bacon stick dessert. This was unlike anything that we had ever seen before. You basically took the stick and rolled it in the maple syrup and then dipped it in the bacon ice. It was fantastic. read more
